Panned Shrooms

[23:03] [user]Shroom[/user]: The garden was [b]loudly prohibited[/b] by Demigra, which was all the more reason to go investigate, right? So many reasons to go! Plus, apples. Fresh delicious apples. Chronoa had swings put in, and that nice fountain. Shin had a stylish bench. So many liked to meditate there. But since when did Demigra own the garden?

For whatever reason Pan was there, she'd catch note of two distinct voices.

[color=cyan]"So we can still does monkeyball?.."[/color]

[color=brown]"Tch, of course. You're still a monkey." [/color]

[color=cyan]"But I'm bigger now.." [/color]

[color=brown]"Means you'll have more impact nailin' Salsa." [/color]

[color=cyan]"I'm still your Squirt too?.." [/color]

[color=brown]"Duh. Just 'cause you got a lil' bigger doesn't mean that this sorta stuff changes. Growin' up is what you're supposed to do. Not as fast, but eh, we'll work with it." [/color]

[color=cyan]"..Okays.. but.. I can read now too.. Does.. does that mean you won't read to me no mores?.. I.. I can read the books for both of us so we can still has readin' times..." [/color]

[color=brown]"Feh.. No you can't. Readin' is my job, Squirt. You may get the words right, but no way have you mastered the art of goofy character voices. Those are key to a good story. Text is text but the voices give 'em soul. It's all about the soul." [/color]

The garden was littered with random throwings of apple cores here and there and various paper crafted origami animals, some colored with crayons. There were certainly signs of the wayward monkey child and a reckless punk, though.. less of what one may expect of a demon, let alone the Demon God of Death. If anything, it was.. [i]different[/i] where some of those shrubs and plants had been pruned and adjusted, even weeded. [i]Tended to.[/i]

It was an odd sight, Shroom on his back, flat with an arm behind his head and other lifted with palm up. He balanced both Kayel's hands to his one, the girl perched in a crouch balanced with her feet to his bent knees, tail straight up to the air holding tightly wound to a stick skewered with three apples to each end for weight. [color=cyan]"Well.. you does know the souls bestest! I can read other stuffs. I like your voices anyways. I just.. didn't want you to not read to me no mores or no more readin' times or not do that stuffs with me no mores 'cause.. I's bigger... and can do more stuffs now.." [/color]

[color=brown]"Just 'cause you can do more stuff doesn't mean you can't do the other stuff. Things change.. but some stuff don't. I get you're scared, kid.. but.. go with what you feel. That's soul power. 'Em tugs? They'll come back. And if you need to hear answers, need to have it said to make what you feel be more real to ya?.. I gotchyu. You ask. Just.. remember.. right now, it's [b]Stick Bug.[/b] It's just gotta be that way.." [/color]
[23:14] *[user]Pan Unleashed[/user] wasn't the kind of girl who liked being told no. Unbeknownst to most, Pan had been going through some turbulent times lately on the emotional side of things, and her habit of locking herself in her room in that turbulence was probably why such things were unbeknownst! Demigra's loud, shouted, proclamations about the garden being off limits to all Time Patrollers and denizens of the watch, had disturbed the hybrid despite her window being closed and blinds drawn, even stuffing a pillow over her head hadn't muffled the shrill voice of the demon god enough, and Pan was just in a bad enough mood to do the exact opposite of what the man was shouting about simply to spite him...and even then her curiosity was strong despite her drained state, some things just never changed.

Sneaking by Demigra had been easy enough, she just had to wait for him to start shouting at a group of patrollers who weren't even going near the garden, just walking from one side of the plaza to the other, navigating through the plants towards the middle, thats when she heard the voices up ahead, recognizing them both- How did he...? Demigra knew..? Just when and how did this happen? No wonder Demigra was trying to keep folks away...and for that matter maybe Pan should consider not interrupting herself...she'd just have to sneak back out the way she cam- [b]CLICHE TWIG SNAPPING UNDER HER FOOT AT THE WORST POSSIBLE MOMENT.[/b]
[23:30] [user]Shroom[/user]: [color=cyan]"Okay.. I know it's 'portants.."[/color]

Shroom was about to speak, when suddenly he perked his head up.. just in time for Kayel to lose focus and balance, barraging him with three apples, one at a time crashing to his head and face. Then the stick. Then the other three apples. [color=brown]"Ow ow.. fu-shi-GAH!"[/color] Then Kayel. [color=brown][b]"OOF!"[/b][/color]

Kayel sniffed at the air, but it was Shroom who grumbled and sat up. [color=brown]"Whoever's there, ya miiiight as well come on out. Don't make me grab my scythe and fetch you."[/color]

[color=cyan]"But Uncle Shroom.. You said Mister Master Lord Demigra was polishin' it for you..[/color]

[color=brown]"Tch! Yeah but they don't know that. It's called a bluff, Squirt. I get Broly taught you fightin' dirty but dirty talkin' is key to that too."[/color]

[color=cyan]"But that's a lie then.."[/color]

[color=brown]"No, it's a.. Stick Bug. [b]Stick Bug.[/b] Speakin' of bugs.. GET OUT HERE!"[/color] Shroom finally rose to his feet, reaching up to adjust his newly acquired Kayel-hat.

[23:33] *[user]Pan Unleashed[/user] sighed. [sub]Glaring at the twig broken under her foot![/sub] Pan stepped out of the bushes, arms crossed. "Relax, you don't have to shout. If I'd known you were here I'd have left you alone, but all I heard was Demi-doof-" A glance at Kayel. "Demigra shouting up a storm about not coming in here." Pan shook her head. "I'd question just how you came to this arrangement, but I'm not about to interrupt your quality time. [sub]Anymore than I already have at least...[/sub]"
[23:49] [user]Shroom[/user]: Kayel squeaked, waving to Pan with a flailing, excited arm as she tried to cling to Shroom's shoulders. [color=cyan]"Hihi Pan! Mister Master Lord Demigra said he had a gift for me and look! Look! I gots my Uncle Shroom for visits times!"[/color]

Shroom sighed up at Kayel.. but where it may have come across as exasperated, his gaze slid to Pan and he smirked. [color=brown]"You're lucky it's you Pancake."[/color] He grumbled about that whole.. Master and Lord nonsense with a distinct [b]Demi-doof[/b] mumble and chuckle. [color=brown]"Squirt, Pan's got her own Stick Bug. We good."[/color]

Quality time.. He squinted at Pan with a slight scoff. [color=brown]"It's chill. 'Sides, not like I'll be doin' much for a bit anyway. Like she said, I'm a gift. Special packaging and all."[/color] He subtly showed off one of those binding cuffs about his wrist that kept him sealed and in place like a good prisoner.

[color=cyan]"So I can uses Stick Bug with Pan too? I didn't know you'd was friends.. She's really very nice!"[/color] Kayel hugged Shroom's head tight, chin tucked to his silver spikes with a broad smile. Overhead, the swarm of rainbow hued lights was quite abundant.. here.. there.. everywhere.. kind of all over in technicolor ambience.

Shroom glowered a bit at that term of [i]friends[/i] and looked expectantly to Pan, as if she'd sort that out.

[2019-08-07 23:56] *[user]Pan Unleashed[/user] smiled at Kayel, she couldn't help it with the little squirt looking so happy, especially with how torn up she'd been last time they'd talked. It was a ray of sunshine desperately needed in an otherwise dreary week. A glance was given towards those cuffs with a small frown following that only lasted a few moments, so clearly there were some caveats to this whole deal, just what was Demigra playing at here? Or had Shroom actually decided to take the leap and defect? She sincerely doubted it. "Friends huh? You could sorta say that, we've been watching eachother's backs a bit here and there for various reasons, speaking of Shroom, your nephew is real worried about you..."
[00:09] [user]Shroom[/user]: [color=brown]"Wha.."[/color] Shroom's shoulders sunk lower. Great, he'd get to deal with talking to Kayel about his new friend. Pan's words were not lost on him, a shift of his brow under maroon bandanna and the slight narrowing of ruby eyes giving way to something more complex as Fu was brought up.

[color=cyan]"That's good! Uncle Shroom could uses more friends! He can sometimes be lo--"[/color] [color=brown]"Squirt!"[/color]

[color=brown]"I'm kinda hungry. You wouldn't mind goin' on a super special secret mission to the cold box and grabbin' some grum, would ya? Just grab whatever. I'll make somethin' of it. I can't go and Pancake did just get here. 'Sides, you know what I like."[/color]

[color=cyan]"Okays! I can bring some stuffs for Pan too! I'll be's back really super real fast!"[/color] Eager to help and still overly excited, Kayel bounced up from Shroom's shoulders into the tree. And off she went, as evident by the swarm of opalescent lights.

Shroom sighed, reaching up and running a hand through his spiked hair, gaze settling to Pan on a more serious note with a glance that Kayel was out of earshot. [color=brown]"Specs, [i]worried?[/i] He doesn't.. [i]worry[/i]. I mean he does but.. .. What do you mean? And you can't tell him I'm here. Got it? No one can know.. I still need to figure a few things and see how I can spin this if I gotta."[/color]

[00:15] *[user]Pan Unleashed[/user] took a seat a bit closer to Shroom, but still a respectable distance, crossing her legs. "He [i]was[/i] worried, never seen him quite like that before even, said your last conversation with him made it sound like you weren't coming back...which begs the question...you here to stay? I mean more power to you if you are, but I for one didn't see it coming. Either way, I don't think I'm gonna tell a single soul I saw you here, though he'd probably like to know you're okay. I'm sure he'll probably pop back up...eventually, though...hard to say with him. Might be a good chance you'll see him again before I do."

[color=brown]"For all I know, Demigra could still off me or Pinksqueak can imprison me. I wasn't even sure if I'd get this far. But hey, here I am. Kekekeke..."[/color] Even that chuckle was a bit lackluster, matching the bittersweet of his grin.. a Cheshire smile of one balancing on a tightrope while juggling blades.

[color=brown]"If I managed to get myself killed, I couldn't just like.. yanno.. not say anythin' to him knowin' what I was walkin' into. Didn't think he'd like... [i]actually worry.[/i] Be curious, sure.."[/color]
[00:30] [user]Pan Unleashed[/user]: "I'd say he was real torn up about it. Though when I talked to him last, he didn't mention it either...so maybe that passed? Honestly it's not easy to read him at all." Pan frowned, hands in her lap as she looked down. "I'm assuming Demigra is the one who got you this far, I dont' think he'd decide to off you unless you tried to do something real stupid...Chronoa though...hard to convince he otherwise once she gets an idea going in her head. Someone might have to keep an eye on her to keep her from stumbling on on this and overreacting."

[color=brown]"Of course he ain't easy to read. Fu is logical, analytical. He's a guy who deals with reason, theories, numbers and variables. He follows his head."[/color]

[color=brown]"..Squirt and Specs are pretty opposite.. but way too alike."[/color] Glancing about, Shroom scooped up a few crayons and thought back a moment before grabbing up a wayward piece of paper and.. doodling. [color=brown]"Demidum coulda offed me. Logic would say he shoulda. Me bein' here is purdy stupid, doin' somethin' real.. real stupid.. Hopefully Demidum keeps his flingthing at bay just a bit more. Now that, [b]that[/b] is illogical. Pancake.. I need you to seriously keep it hush that I'm here. It ain't for me.."[/color]
[00:52] *[user]Pan Unleashed[/user] nods her head. "I get ya, not a soul is gonna know about you being here, and if I see Demigra losing track of Chronoa I'll try to run some interference too. Stupid or not I'm glad you're here, I haven't seen Kayel this happy in...well, as long as I've known her at least, which I can't say is too long but...she's a good kid either way." Pan smiled, almost a little bittersweetly, recalling their last conversation about the girl. "Whatever happens to this weird dimension, I hope if nothing else you and her get to walk away from it together."

[01:19] [user]Shroom[/user]: Ruby gaze narrowed as his shoulders slumped a little more. [color=brown]"..That's... not cool."[/color] He paused his doodle, seemingly in thought. [color=brown]"Fu is knowledge. Kayel is experience. They both need their own freedom.. and restrictions. ...Even if she's not [i]this happy[/i] is she still.. yanno.. [i]happy[/i]?"[/color] Back to drawing! [color=brown]"You're right, that she can [i]do stuff[/i] but she's kinda lackin' a lot of control and goin' about it all the wrong ways. The way [i]other people[/i] do it. But she ain't other people. I seen her tryin' the whole.. [i]normal life[/i] thing.. Just 'cause 'good people' take charge of somethin' don't make it good... Right now I think both Fu and Kayel are not 'zactly.. fine. [i]It bugs me.[/i]"[/color] Shroom's gaze focused further, narrowed. [color=brown]"Sacrificial souls don't get to walk away."[/color]

I dunno, I can just tell the connection between you two is a lot deeper y'know? Kayel...she's being taken care of at least, and Demigra and Chronoa aren't doing a bad job really, they just....dunno, maybe they just don't really get her yet? As for Fu...he's a lot easier to worry about, the list of people who can keep him from getting himself into trouble is very short."

They're [i]who they are[/i] and [b]not[/b] [i]what they are.[/i]"[/color] Shroom gazed down at that paper then folded it up, stuffing it into his vest. [color=brown]"Fact is, no one will ever get 'em. I won't. I know it. They both need people, more than they know. They will always be in trouble. Always be trouble. But that's what I like about 'em. I'm the fuckin' Grim Reaper of the Dark Empire, [i]of course.[/i]"[/color] Shroom snickered, flashing a too-wide grin and curling his tongue upwards from the right of his mouth.

"Feels like I'm more fractures than strengths lately, but...I'm [i]trying[/i] still... Fu though...well, his is growing for sure, and probably setting himself up for some fractures along the way."

If you lack that shield from experiences.. well.. there's a reason certain souls don't make it into system circulation. They just... break. True fractures lessen with each reincar-- eh I'mma sound like Fu and science. Where is that kid?.. I said the cold box.. Oh.. They got more than one fridge in there I bet.."[/color] His lips pursed before he broke into a fit of cackles, shaking his head. [color=brown]"Fu's got more heart and soul than he knows what to do with. Literally. He can't logic it. Hard to say if he's gained any fractures or hairlines. The nature of a soul is a complicated thing. Cultivatin' souls in intricate stuff."[/color]

Pan said idly, glancing around for Kayel to reappear, she might be stealing from Trunk's fridge again...if she can remember which Trunks had the fridge for her anyways. "I don't think I'm as strong as you think I am, I think theres probably a few real fractures from back in the day. Least it feels that way sometimes. Maybe I dunno what I'm talking about but...eh, I dunno, thats all gonna tread into mush pretty soon. Maybe I should just get out of your hair before Kayel comes back."

[color=brown]"She knows I like 'demon food'.. To my knowledge you guys got oooone other guy who's hung out in the Demon Realm. ..I think I sent Squirt to steal from Demigra.. ...Kekekekekeke... I thiiink.. I'mma scoot myself up in a tree for a better view of some of 'em fireworks.. Should grab ehr a few more apples anyway. Kid won't go get food for herself, would rather live on apples here to chill with me. I ask for food? Vooooom.. she's a speedster stealin' from gods.. Love that chaos."[/color]

Pan stood, wiping off her pants. "My room isn't actually too far from here, I'll be close by if things do blow up in some way, might be able to help out, dunno. Either way, glad you got a chance to be here." Pan smiled and made for the bushes again to sneak back out of the garden.
