CALLOUS: heres a copy/paste of the message I sent to many of the top top top adv players on smogon about an hour ago

Hey everyone. I've had an idea in my head for several months now and I am now at the point with it where I want to get feedback from my target audience (you guys and a few others) and potentially move forward if there is enough interest. Here's what I have in mind-

"CALLOUS Invitational Tournament"

Let me be clear right off the bat- this tournament does not yet exist and I'm merely looking for feedback at this time!

Let me get this out there right from the start so I can get and hopefully keep your attention-

The tournament would be completely free to enter BUT WOULD HAVE A REAL LIFE CASH PRIZE!!!

Details may change and are definitely not finalized, but here's the general idea.

32 man tournament, invitation only, stacked with elite ADV players.

Single elimination

Structure would be best 2 out of 3 matches- 1 ADV OU game, 1 ADV UU game with a BL cap of 1 or 2 Pokemon, 1 ADV NU game. Winner of the 2 out of 3 advances. Loser is eliminated. The order in which these games must be played would be randomly determined each round.

Two finalists would receive a cash prize. I haven't decided the exact amount but I'll be paying with my own money. I'm thinking maybe a 400-500 dollar prize pool. So an example would be, if I went with 500, $350 USD for the winner and $150 USD for the runner-up. All prizes would be paid in USDs via PayPal.

All you guys would need to do is-

1. Play the matches.

2. UPLOAD THE REPLAYS. This is important, because I want to put ALL the games on my YouTube channel. Matches that are not uploaded will not count so it's on you guys to make sure to save the replays.

3. Specifically, the replays would be uploaded to the thread I'd make about this tournament on Pokemon Perfect, not here on Smogon, so you guys would have to make an account there if you don't already have one. It's free and this shouldn't be a problem for anyone.

4. I don't mind if other YouTube narrators, such as BKC, post the games to their channels as well. I ask only that you give me the credit that I'm due for organizing and funding this by putting a link in the video description to my channel. Many of you know it, but it's youtube.com/callousnarrates.



So with that I'd like some feedback please. Would you guys be interested in playing in this kind of thing? Is there something specific you really dislike about what I'm proposing? I think it'd be an excellent, highly competitive tournament in which all of you guys have nothing to lose but something to gain. If enough people are interested I will move forward with this. Your feedback is invaluable. Thank you for the time. :)

I think smogon's ADV tiering is awfully done tho: the tiers themselves ended up fine but I think the method they're reached by is horrible and there's a lot of mons out of place: plenty of not overpowered stuff in BL, plenty of stuff in UU that's not actually viable in UU, etc.
DA: also it means lower tour quality overall bc very few players are high level at all these tiers

DA: huntail is kind of broke but there are cool checks available to it but a crit can demolish almost all of them
DA: sableye isnt broke but requires u to think but it's super passive and weak to spikes so I think anyone who thinks its broke is bad at pokemon
DA: and almost everyone not called like me or triangles thought it was broke
