- Why the BBC narrative is hugely exaggerated and unlikely to be true: According to western
- media, about 1 million Uighurs are detained or have ‘vanished’. This is unlikely for 2 reasons.
- 1. There are about 1.1 to 1.6 million Uighurs in China, is it likely that the government catches the
- majority of them and secretly torture/kill them without invoking massive public outrage? If you go
- to Xinjiang, you’ll see lots of beautiful Uighur people living peacefu
- 2. It would cost the government a huge amount of money, multiple billions of dollars to build the
- camp for 1 million people, which is 6 times the size of Oxford population! The so-called satellite
- image of ‘concentration camp’ can accommodate hundreds at most. Use your brain. Why would
- the government do such thing with so huge a cost and so little benefit? As an advancing
- economy, we need talents and skilled people to fuel the growth; training minorities who lack
- access to education resources would hugely benefit both them and society at large.

- Based on my experience, I have 1) Uighur friends who came from Xinjiang 2)lived in Xinjiang for
- a week 3)met their families, who are all beautiful, great and welcoming secular Uighur people.
- Xinjiang is nothing like what’s been depicted in western media. It’s a beautiful place and most
- people want to cohabit peacefully with the other ethnic groups and work hard to live a fulfilling life.
- It’s also strange that some confused western journalist equate Uighur(回鹘) with east Turkistan(
- 突厥). They have never been the same and will never be in the future. Back in the Tang Dynasty,
- Turkistan Islamic military invaded Xinjiang, which at that time were inhabited by Buddhist and
- shaman Uighurs etc. They forcefully converted everyone into Islam, but the Turkistan force were
- later cracked down by the collaboration of Uigher and Tang military. So called ‘free east Turkistan’
- is nonsensical and wishful thinking, and we all know that ‘east Turkistan Islamic movement’ is a
- terrorist group according to international authorities, including UK officials. Conflating east
- Turkistan with Uighur is an enormous disrespect to our beautiful Uighur sisters and brothers,
- most of whom live happily and peacefully with the other 55 ethnic groups! As to those who
- identify with east Turkistan terrorists, you are being used by these malicious forces in their
- attempts to divide China and tear it apart. These people will not be welcomed in China unless
- they wake up now and choose the right friends.
