  3. ALTERNATE NAME: Don't be a dick to a shoggoth
  4. THIS IS A BAD END - READ AT YOUR OWN RISK
  5.
  6. >Starting to look for a job
  7. >Something easy
  8. >A friend of mine suggested that I try applying at a job in his hometown
  9. >He said that they'll hire anyone and all they needed was my application
  10. >It's a weird situation altogether, and supposedly the place is haunted
  11. >Friend repeatedly said that, too
  12. >Ghosts aren't a problem, since they don't exist
  13. >Still the job's a live-in groundskeeper
  14. >Pay's not great, but I can't complain - it has free room and board
  15. >Take the bus to the next town, since I don't actually have a car
  16. >Last one got totaled when my old ex-girlfriend decided to start snorting lines
  17. >Transfer off of it and onto the local bus
  18. >Sit way in the back because I know my stop is at the end of the line
  19. >Notice that the sun's getting low on the horizon
  20. >It's always nice when it's quieter
  21. >A few people get on at the next stop in the center of town
  22. >I look over everyone getting on
  23. >Oh look, there's a cripple coming on
  24. >She’s walking like both her knees and hips need to be replaced
  25. "Damn woman should've got her knee surgery done right away."
  26. >I get a few looks from the people in front of me
  27. "What. I'm not saying anything that y’all aren't thinking."
  28. >Her clothes cling to her every movement, as if they were a part of her
  29. >Who the hell wears a veil nowadays too?
  30. >Weird as hell woman with curves for DAYS
  31. >She turns her head a little, and her left green eye slowly rolls to look through her veil at me
  32. >Stare right back
  33. >She slowly walks towards the front of the bus
  34. >It'd be funny if she trips
  35. >The bus quiets down as she walks past each of the full aisles
  36. >Not walk, shambles… like a zombie or something
  37. >She's walking all the way down the aisle
  38. >People ahead of me try to take up more space so that she doesn't sit next to them
  39. >I had already put my luggage overhead, and there's clearly an open spot beside me
  40. >I lean over the seat beside me, staring right into her dark green eyes
  41. "Seat's taken."
  42. >The people in front of me all turn around
  43. >She gives a partial smile
  44. >"Oh do not worry. I wouldn't dare sit directly next to a worm like you."
  45. >I smile
  46. >She's feisty
  47. >The people in front of us slowly resume talking
  48. >I keep staring at her
  49. >She's fidgeting
  50. "Hey lady. What's with the getup?"
  51. >She slowly turns her head towards me, while the rest of the bus goes silent
  52. >"My... Getup you say?"
  53. "Yeah. Did you come from a funeral or some shit?"
  54. >"Only a brute would swear in front of a proper lady. And if you must know, I simply enjoy dressing like this."
  55. >I keep staring at her
  56. >She turns her head away, looking out of her window
  57. >Even for being crippled, she's still got a rockin bod
  58. >Tits, ass, face... All of it top notch
  59. >Maybe-
  60. >She cuts off my thoughts, "Why are you staring so intensely at me?"
  61. >She glares at me, "Tell me honestly."
  62. "You're just weird as hell, lady."
  63. >The corner of her lip twitches
  64. >"I thought I told you to answer truthfully?"
  65. "What are you, like a mind reader?"
  66. >I laugh and look forward
  67. >Everyone else avoids my gaze now
  68. >Doesn't matter
  69. >"I have not seen you in town before."
  70. >OH, and now she's trying to initiate conversation
  71. >I look over at her
  72. >Now that's a good disgusted face
  73. >Even looking like that she's hot...
  74. "You just haven't been looking well enough."
  75. >She shakes her head
  76. >"Liar."
  77. >She's even cute when she's angry
  78. >"Why are you here? Are you planning on running your mouth off until someone decides to tear if off?"
  79. "Ooh, that's a good one. Sounds like it'd be fun.
  80. >"You are an asshole."
  81. >There's a squelching noise from her chair
  82. >I wait a few moments, then prod her with another question
  83. "So what the hell is there to do in town? There's gotta be something of value, right?"
  84. >She glares at me
  85. >"You do not care about my words, nor do you care about the places in town."
  86. >She spits a dark liquid down onto the floor
  87. "I didn't know you chewed tobacco too. Use a bottle next time. You never know when you're going to trip in it."
  88. >"Asshole."
  89. "You used that one already lady. Or are you getting senile too? Do you need me to get your cane?"
  90. >She starts laughing
  91. >Beneath her laugh, there's a bunch of different sounds blending together
  92. >The bus screeches to a halt, the driver, and everyone else freezes
  93. "What the hell is wrong with you, lady? If that's your laugh, you better get to the doctor."
  94. >Aha, she's really pissed now
  95. >Her red eyes are twitching, and her mouth is shut tight
  96. >I can hear her muffled voice
  97. >It kind of seems like it's coming from her chest
  98. >"If you continue with your beration, I will have to take action."
  99. "OOOh, scary! I'd like to see the kind of tongue lashing you could do on me."
  100. >The honking horns behind the bus prompt the woman to shout at the bus driver
  101. >"HURRY UP AND DRIVE. I do not want to be stuck with this asshole for any longer than is necessary."
  102. >The driver coughs several times and finds his voice
  103. "W-what's your stop?"
  104. >She answer quickly, "The end of the line."
  105. >The driver stops at the next station, radios in a replacement bus, and everyone except myself and the lady get out
  106. >She half-snarls at me
  107. >"WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE?"
  108. "Only one reason. We've got the same stop."
  109. >She shakes her head
  110. >"Oh no... You are-"
  111. "Yeah, I'm applying for the same position you are. Hard to do groundskeeping when you're crippled, right?"
  112. >A grin grows on her face
  113. >"Oh yes sir, that is correct. A crippled man could never do the same kind of work as a healthy one."
  114. >The driver's passed through the past few stops at a speed that makes me feel uncomfortable
  115. >She on the other hand seems perfectly unfazed with the speed, and is staring hard at me
  116. "What's your problem lady?"
  117. >"I do not have a problem. You on the other hand have several."
  118. "I'm fine! Besides, with all your health issues, I'd think that you're almost on your last legs."
  119. >"You really should tell the truth..."
  120. >I shake my head
  121. >This lady's nuts
  122. >Briefly spot a bus stop and a grocery store fly by
  123. "Oh hey, we must be getting close. That's the second to last stop.."
  124. >It isn't two moments later that a loud screech assaults our ears, and I slam into the seat in front of me
  125. >She bends over and looks at me
  126. >"Oh dear, are you hurt?"
  127. >I rub my nose and force myself up
  128. "I'm fine... Hey. That's my suitcase."
  129. >She holds it up
  130. >"Yes, and? Aren't we both going to the same place?"
  131. >She glides down the aisle, holding her fist over the money machine
  132. >"Sir driver? I would like to apologize for the rudeness of this man, and also for my own selfishness."
  133. >He holds out his hand, but keeps looking away from her
  134. >She opens her fist, and five gold coins drop out of it and into his
  135. >She closes his hand over the coins and walks off of the bus
  136. >I hurry to follow her
  137. >The bus driver says as I pass
  138. >"Ya really shouldn't have gotten on her bad side lad."
  139. >I step out of the bus and start to say a remark, only to have the door shut in my face
  140. >He pulls into the driveway ahead and turns around, speeding back towards town
  141. >It's getting dark, and now it's just her and I alone
  142. "So, what's your plan? Give me a thorough tongue las-"
  143. >She flicks something on the tip of her finger straight into my mouth
  144. >I immediately cough, finding that my tongue is slowly going numb
  145. >She tilts her head to the side, with an eerie smile
  146. >It’s almost has if her eyes are glowing red
  147. >"Oh my, is there something wrong?"
  148. "W-whaddya do ta me bith..."
  149. >I grab at my tongue, feeling a sticky substance across the whole surface
  150. >I pull at it, tearing a small bit of the slime off
  151. >She playfully bites the tip of her tongue
  152. >Even like that she's hot, but what the hell did she do to me
  153. >"So sir, tell me the truth. What do you think of me, the owner of the Starcursed Mansion?"
  154. "W-wha..."
  155. >I'm focused on the slime that I pulled out of my mouth
  156. >And how it's slowly growing to encompass my hand
  157. >"Oh sir? You better speak the truth soon, otherwise the slime will keep growing, and then you will not be able to speak again~"
  158. >I stumble forward down the driveway, my head is starting to feel light, and my vision is starting to blur
  159. >She's just a step behind
  160. >"Sir, why won't you tell me the truth?"
  161. >I cough out, feeling it creeping down my throat now
  162. >"Sir, you are running out of time."
  163. >I trip and fall into a metal gate, using whatever strength I have left to hold me up
  164. >She leans in close
  165. >Even with my hazy vision, I can see her glowing red eyes
  166. >I try to spit at her with the last of my consciousness
  167. >She wipes it off with her thumb and stands over me as I drop onto the cold pavement
  168. >"You could have saved yourself had you simply told the truth..."
  169.
  170. >I wake up coughing hard
  171. >My stomach lurches and I vomit onto the floor
  172. >I open my eyes, hoping to let them adjust to wherever I am
  173. >But no, there's nothing
  174. >I can't move my arms or legs
  175. >A slimy hand caresses my chin
  176. >"Oh mister asshole is finally awake!"
  177. >I try to pull my jaw out of her grasp
  178. >Her grip tightens around it
  179. >"What is the word you thought of earlier...Ah, yes... Feisty."
  180. >My mouth can't make words
  181. >She taps my nose in the pitch black room
  182. >"Maybe I can tell you a little bit about myself, hmm? I know you would not be able to speak, and since all you do is lie..."
  183. >"I believe I rather enjoy simply reading your thoughts. It is far better than listening to your annoying voice."
  184. >I hear a squelching noise
  185. >"Oh, you want me to let you go? Soon. Very soon. But I'm going to have my fun first."
  186. >"A shoggoth will always have more difficulty reading memories compared to a mind flayer, but with practice..."
  187. >There's another loud squelch
  188. >"Sorry if it is a little too loud, but please bear with it."
  189. >Her hand once again caresses my chin
  190. >"Not that you have a choice."
  191. >She taps my nose three times
  192. >"Where... was... I..."
  193. "Oh, that is right, thank you! With practice, a shoggoth can be just as efficient."
  194. >There's another squelch in my ear
  195. >"So let us dig through those foul lies you spoke of earlier... Yes in fact, I will give you your voice back when I am done."
  196. >Two glowing red eyes bend down to face him
  197. >"It is just so much easier to do it this way."
  198. >She lightly slaps his cheek with her slime covered hand
  199. >"You called me, and I quote,'You're just weird as hell, lady.'"
  200. >I'm in shock
  201. >She just spoke in my voice
  202. >"Yes I can mimic any voice and transform into any shape I see."
  203. >She giggles
  204. >It sounds like each giggle is coming from all over the room
  205. >"But what was the truth? What did you actually think...hmm?"
  206. >She mimics my voice again
  207. >'Even for being crippled, she's still got a rockin bod. Tits, ass, face... All of it top notch'
  208. >She clears her throat
  209. >"Does that sound about right?
  210. >"Do you know what is quite sad? Oh come now, I do not care if you want to know or not."
  211. >There's that same giggle
  212. >"Had you spoken like a gentleman, I might have considered you a possible partner."
  213. >Another loud squelch
  214. >"Oho, what about this one."
  215. >"When I said that I have not seen you in town, yo-... How long will this go on?"
  216. >Her red eyes shine a little brighter
  217. >"This punishment is for my benefit only. You will have no memory of any of this.”
  218. >She giggles
  219. >”Days or weeks will have no meaning to you here, so what is a measly few hours?”
  220. >I desperately try to struggle, but I'm only able to move my face up and down a few degrees
  221. >"It is no use. You are completely covered by my body. If I desired, I could dissolve you into nothingness."
  222. >"Oho... that is an interesting though. You wish to see what I look like in the light?"
  223. >"You will, after I've had my fun."
  224. >Her red eyes slowly rise out of sight.
  225. >"So you had stated, and I quote, 'You just haven't been looking well enough.'
  226. >My body shudders in its slimy prison
  227. >She spoke in my voice again
  228. >”Once again, how hard would it have been to simply tell the truth?”
  229. >She slaps my face with slime
  230. >”It is such a simple task, and yet a lummox of a man like you has no grasp of it.”
  231. >”Oh, you will tell the truth if I let you speak one more time?”
  232. >Her laughter fills the room from every angle
  233. >All of the voices stop
  234. >A small yellow light appears below me
  235. >I strain my eyes to look
  236. >Everywhere around me is ink-black slime
  237. >Then another yellow light appears behind the red-eyed figure
  238. >No… is that an eye?
  239. >Can’t be, since it’s
  240. >”Oh yes, that is one of my eyes, and yes it is larger than a dinner plate!”
  241. >Feel something lick my face
  242. >”And that’s one of my tongues… Tsk, it is too bad I made a promise all those centuries ago.”
  243. >Other large glowing eye opens up beside her
  244. >Smaller ones start opening all around
  245. >”Allow me to loosen your neck a little bit so that you can properly see me as I am.”
  246. >The slime that was holding my face in place drops to the ground in a loud splat
  247. >Eyes everywhere
  248. >Every now and then, the glowing jagged teeth of a mouth appear
  249. >The red-eyed figure in front of me shudders
  250. >”I love that mental scream of yours. It is such a pure, wholesome, mental scream! It reminds me of a maiden!”
  251. >It suddenly gets a lot brighter above me
  252. >Look up and see an eye wider than I am tall
  253. >I fucked up
  254. >”Yes you did.”
  255. >Her voice came from three different mouths
  256. >I look at her
  257. >Can finally see the horror standing in front of me
  258. >Mouths and eyes open up simultaneously along every inch of her person
  259. >”So tell me sir, why did you choose to lie?”
  260. >The slime drips down from my lips
  261. >This is a nightmare
  262. >It’s the only explanation
  263. >”You know you did this to yourself.”
  264. >She’s grinning, and there’s a particularly loud squelch in my ear as a slimy tentacle drops out of it
  265. >”Go on, say something. I am not listening to your thoughts anymore.”
  266. >Choose the coward’s way out and scream like hell
  267. >Scream until I can’t breathe
  268. >She shudders and rubs some of her slime tentacles
  269. >End up causing myself to lose my breath and cough as I try to inhale
  270. >I feel my tongue start numbing again
  271. >”That was such a d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s scream. A true maiden’s scream...Delicious”
  272. >She squelches down into the slime so that my head is eye level with hers
  273. >She grabs my jaw
  274. >”Now all that is left is to ask you one final question. I will even give you your voice back for this.”
  275. >”Do you want this nightmare to end now?”
  276. >She shakes my jaw
  277. >”Only speak yes, or no.”
  278. >More like those are the only two words I remember
  279. >I start crying
  280. “Y-yes…”
  281. >I immediately can’t talk again, and there’s a squelch in my ear
  282. >”As you wish. Now I will tell you my name.”
  283. >What… what does a name have to do with ending the nightmare
  284. >”You should feel honored, worm. I hear that those that hear my name are visited by such glorious nightmares.”
  285. >The two eyes in her head open wider than they ever should
  286. >”And the blessed insanity that goes with it stays with you the... Rest. Of. Your. Life.”
  287. >She taps my nose in line with the last four words.
  288. >”Ah ah ah~ There are no take backs. You said that you wanted this nightmare to end.”
  289. >I cry helplessly, feeling her slime absorbing all of my tears
  290. >”So enjoy the nightmare that lasts the rest of your life.”
  291. >My face is held tight, and the tentacle in my ear squelches out
  292. >She whispers directly into my ear
  293. >”Neph-----”
