  1. [20:46] Lucrecia Elstrange asks, "Ooh, is that a new sword?"
  2. [20:51] Rook takes his payment and pockets it then looks behind his back at the hilt of the new sword he bought. "Oh, yeah. It's a bit lighter than my last one so I bought it. But it doesn't have an enchantment on it yet." he said and turned back towards Lucrecia.
  3.
  4. "... Anyway... I kinda need help with somethin'. Er, just a question really..." he said, looking more troubled than... Most likely ever."
  5. (Rook)

  7.
  8. [20:54] Lucrecia Elstrange asks, "Uhh, sure, what is it Rook?"
  9. [20:59] Rook sighed and looked away. He honestly felt his thoughts were on the stupid side of things right now. "Well... It's about the Syndicate again. I heard they attacked some noble in the upper city... I just dunno if they're gonna be stopped at this rate. The Knights don't do anything until the Syndicate take action first and the Watch defends but that's all."
  10.
  11. He looks back over towards Lucrecia looking rather conflicted. "What would you do, if you wanted them to go away? Join the watch? The Knights? Go hunt them down in the sewers or wherever else they're hiding?" he let out another sigh.
  12.
  13. "I just don't really get what I'm supposed to do here."
  14. (Rook)
  15. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  16.
  17. [21:10] She walks over to Rook and squats down beside him. There's a pensive look on her face as she stares at the boy. She could see his conflict, she could tell that the turmoil he felt could even be painful, maybe if not now but over time. She starts with, "Aww... Was the noble a friend of yours? Or is it the building call of manhood telling you to do something?"
  18.
  19. She looks up to the ceiling to contemplate. "I think that you are a bit young and the world is very contemplated, so rushing to pick up your blade might not be the best option... But..."
  20.
  21. She sighs. "If you were to pick up your blade now, it depends on where your feelings lie. If you want to stop the conflict, trying to use your voice might be best. But if you want to align yourself with a cause... The knights of the Order is the route to destroying the Syndicate. But the knights of the order are also lazy and more concerned with a more carefree life overseeing carefree people."
  22.
  23. She muses, "And the watch is the better choice if you want to protect everyone, and to save lives. The watch is at the front lines, protecting the people on the streets from the Syndicate and keeping the peace. And if it were me personally, if my only choices were the order of the watch, I would pick the watch."
  24. (Lucrecia Elstrange)
  25. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  26.
  27. [21:25] he questioned internally but didn't say anything aloud. "No, the noble wasn't any friend of mine. I just don't want the Syndicate to do whatever they want." he answered and continued to listen to everything else she had to say.
  28.
  29. Once she was finished he turned away, looking down at the ground thinking about it all. "... I don't think 'voices' mean anything. Even the Syndicate know that. Everytime they open they're mouths it's followed by bloodshed, that's when people listen." he then thought about the Knights and Watch... It's true the Watch is on the frontlines here in Sudbury, fighting the crooks and Syndicate members. Usually the Knights are called in after the fact.
  30.
  31. "... So I can either battle the Syndicate in the streets with the Watch or eventually help take them down in the Knights, whenever that'll be." he looked back over towards Lucrecia. "... I guess the Watch is better to find the Syndicate, but couldn't I get away with more if I become a Knight?"
  32. (Rook)
  33. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  34.
  35. [21:41] Lucrecia shakes her head. "Being a Knight... Its noble... But there's so many other problems. You could create much more syndicate. Yourr every mistake can contribute to the advancement of their agenda. You could be stuck waiting for a chance to do something or worse, get head strong and go off on your own and get hurt while the others drag their heels..."
  36.
  37. She puts her hands on her hips and stands up. "The... I just think the watch is better. In every possible way. For your future, for what you want. For Messaris, for Sudbury. The knights will only have more sway when war is declared. Then their authority may go unquestioned."
  38. (Lucrecia Elstrange)
  39. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  40.
  41. [21:46] Rook turned away, staring ahead. "... I think I get it. Being a Knight is easier but only good in the end, but for everything else it'd just be a problem. While joining the Watch puts me where I need to be the whole time." he stated.
  42.
  43. "Well... I'm not sure if joining some big group is the way to go. But I guess I could always just leave if it doesn't work out." he shrugged. "I think I might join the Watch then. If I can find Syndicate members on the streets and take 'em down, maybe the city won't change into... Whatever it is the Syndicate wants."
  44. (Rook)
  45. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  46.
  47. [21:48] Lucrecia nods her head.

  51. [21:48] Lucrecia Elstrange says, "Rook... This is all very dangerous."
  52. [21:50] * You have been awarded 4 Roleplay Points! *
  53. [21:50] Rook says, "Well... I like to think I'm used to that sorta thing."
  54. [21:50] Lucrecia Elstrange says, "... I think this is another level Rook."
  55. [21:50] Lucrecia Elstrange says, "II've heard about Exarchs falling."
  56. [21:52] Rook says, "... If I do nothing, I'll probably regret it later when the Syndicate controls the slums."
  57. [21:59] Lucrecia Elstrange says, "I see. I see."
  58. [22:00] Lucrecia Elstrange says, "I trust you Rook"
  59. [22:09] Trust? For most of his life Rook only trusted himself. Though now that he thinks about it there's actually a few people he'd put it in at this point. Weird. Though he wondered if her trust in him was a bit misplaced. Sure, he was trying to take down the Syndicate... But it was for entirely selfish reasons.
  60.
  61. He just wanted the city to stay as it was, for better or worse. Joining the watch was nothing more than a means towards that goal. 'Helping the people' was very low on the list for him. In fact, he wondered what his reaction would be if he had to choose between helping someone else and pursuing a Syndicate member. He wasn't one to think before acting after all...
  62.
  63. "... I... Trust you too." he said with a slight smile. "I'm gonna go out for a while and think about what I wanna do."
  64. (Rook)
