- [17:18] <Mukora> I think so?
- [17:18] <maxwellelvis> Zarek: Yup
- [17:18] <Zarek> Okay, fair enough then.
- [17:19] <Zarek> You win this round, Bay!
- [17:19] <Zarek> But I got my eye on you.
- [17:19] <Mukora> Seeing the trailers for the new movie has actually made it really hard to remember what was so bad about the first one
- [17:19] <maxwellelvis> Zarek: Behold https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lSvVgFTL3E
- [17:19] <Mukora> Not that the new one looks especially GOOD. just that it doesn't look bad
- [17:20] <maxwellelvis> Apparently the trailers were deceptive
- [17:20] <maxwellelvis> For this one.
- [17:20] <maxwellelvis> For one thing, Casey Jones is a cop with no mask and no hockey gimmick.
- [17:20] *** whowho has joined #Wack'd
- [17:20] <maxwellelvis> Shredder is as much of a non-entity as he was in the original.
- [17:20] <whowho> Sorry, what did I miss?
- [17:21] <maxwellelvis> Original as in the 2014 one.
- [17:21] <whowho> I do remmeber this afterlife game, and, oh hay, LGR, I love this guy.
- [17:21] <whowho> Not by choice,
- [17:21] <whowho> Emily just can't stop playing his videos.
- [17:21] <Mukora> Man. I love that Shredder puts a Hazmat suit on OVER his whole samurai getup
- [17:21] <maxwellelvis> You don't wanna get Ooze on you.
- [17:21] <Phantomwoman> Bocaj came back
- [17:22] <maxwellelvis> Even if there's no animals around.
- [17:22] <maxwellelvis> That's what happened to Mutagen Man.
- [17:22] <Bocaj> Did any of the movies bring us baxter stockman and his mousers?
- [17:22] <whowho> Hmm, what else could work well in a isometric management sim format.
- [17:22] <maxwellelvis> Yeah.
- [17:22] <maxwellelvis> Well, Baxter.
- [17:22] <maxwellelvis> he's in the newest one.
- [17:22] <Bocaj> does he turn to a fly
- [17:22] <maxwellelvis> And he's played by Tyler Perry
- [17:22] <Bocaj> =|
- [17:23] <maxwellelvis> So he's the ONE character who looks like he's supposed to.
- [17:23] <whowho> I kind of like the idea of a premise loose enough where your goals could be "Build a zoo, build a hospital, build a prison."
- [17:23] <Zarek> Whowho: D&D-esque thieves' guild?
- [17:23] <whowho> You can't really build in that scenario though, unless you're robbing from yourself.
- [17:24] <Mukora> Why would you not be able to build?
- [17:24] <Zarek> You can expand your criminal empire.
- [17:24] <Zarek> It'd probably be a combination of some occasional building with lots of taking control of surrounding businesses.
- [17:25] <Zarek> Also this made me think of the Volcagnomafia, we should totally do more Ioglith stuff soon Mukora.
- [17:26] <maxwellelvis> I've gotten the impression the Bay-produced Shredder is one of the less-intimidating ones.
- [17:26] <whowho> Some games have the whole, building in more or less a void, I'm quite fond of Dungeon Keeper where, as you build into the void you discover surprising obsticals you'll have to build around.
- [17:26] <Mukora> @Zarek: Yeah definitely.
- [17:26] <maxwellelvis> Though, I think only one or two incarnations of Shredder were ever really intimidating.
- [17:27] <Mukora> I really liked the Shredder from the aughties TMNT series.
- [17:27] <Bocaj> the one who was an alien?
- [17:27] <maxwellelvis> Yeah.
- [17:27] <maxwellelvis> The renegade Utrom.
- [17:27] <Zarek> Oh, hey, Whowho! What about a Museum Tycoon?
- [17:27] <maxwellelvis> Or, a tengu. Depending on what time it is in the show.
- [17:27] <Mukora> Was he? I remember very little of that show despite loving it
- [17:28] <maxwellelvis> Yeah, Oroku Saki was actually Ch'rell, a rogue Utrom.
- [17:29] <Bocaj> a renegade tentacle brain pretending to be a ninja samurei
- [17:29] <Bocaj> now thats comics
- [17:30] <maxwellelvis> That's also the show where, instead of mutating, Baxter kept getting blown up, and every appearance there'd be less and less of him until he was just a brain in a jar.
- [17:30] <maxwellelvis> Bocaj: Krang/the Kraang are tentacle brains, the Utroms have short stubby limbs.
- [17:30] <whowho> @Zarek, can I use it too tell an incredibly inaccurate proganda history to manipulate the world outside my meuseum?
- [17:30] <Zarek> Anachronism could be a mechanic, sure!
- [17:32] <Zarek> A museum with high anachronism will probably have less popularity with customers but what customers it DOES have will be more "agreeable" and come multiple times and stuff. (See also: creationist museums)
- [17:32] <maxwellelvis> The other intimidatig Shredder I can think of is the one from the 1990 live action movie.
- [17:32] <Zarek> ALSO: has planetary government sim been done?
- [17:33] <maxwellelvis> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNQNoWABGDk
- [17:33] <maxwellelvis> Zarek: Probably.
- [17:33] *** InbarFink has quit IRC: Quit: http://www.kiwiirc.com/ - A hand crafted IRC client
- [17:34] <maxwellelvis> Man, Kiwi is just going on a tear today.
- [17:34] <whowho> The 00s TMNT was a great show, simply because it was great at escalating.
- [17:36] <maxwellelvis> I have a soft spot for the old-school 80's Shredder, but I gotta say, he's way more intimidating as Uncle Phil https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLkBycpU-8s
- [17:37] <Zarek> First thing that's awful about the Xbox Zoo Tycoon: You can explore the zoo but instead of being in first person like in 2, you're a third person brown-haired white guy.
- [17:37] <maxwellelvis> Maxwellelvis: But it's not like that's an original opinion.
- [17:38] <Mukora> There have been a tone of space 4X games that include individual planet governance as a mechanic.
- [17:38] <@Wackd> Man speaking of nostalgic cartoon shows
- [17:38] <@Wackd> I am super-tempted to listen to that podcast Nickelodeon's doing now that they've landed Arlene Klasky as a guest
- [17:39] <@Wackd> But I am extremely skeptical of how informative a corporate-run podcast on said corporation's history is going to be
- [17:39] <Zarek> I can't say this is a problem unique to the third Zoo Tycoon but its enclosures are uncomfortably small.
- [17:39] <maxwellelvis> It's probably pretty accurate to most zoos, I bet.
- [17:39] <@Wackd> It's a bit like those Doctor Who Revisited thingers they did where everyone's suuuuuper hesitant to say even slightly controversial things even about the Sixth Doctor era
