- >The warning sirens got your attention.
- “God dammit…”
- >It isn’t guaranteed to be her, you reminded yourself.
- >She wasn’t the only one out there.
- >An orderly, if panicked, evacuation swarmed past your office.
- >Coworkers, managers, and clients all fled through the office space around you.
- >After all those drills, and a few bouts of the real thing, they were getting good at this.
- >All the time working around the girls really desensitized you to these sorts of things.
- >You listened for the distant footfalls.
- >You tried to concentrate over the more frightened screams from the ladies of the HR department.
- >…
- >There it was: the first big, rumbling that made everything around you clatter ever so slightly.
- >The “thooms” were distant, but slowly getting closer. Even the wailing sirens couldn’t block out that noise.
- >You could feel the vibrations through your feet planted on the floor.
- >You sighed, and walked past the rows of cubicles outside your office.
- >If you were feeling it all the way here it could only be one of the bigger ones.
- >And she was one of the biggest.
- >The windows at this height offered a beautiful, panoramic view of the city’s eastern half.
- >A wide, miles-long avenue ran straight from the office building you were in all the way to the ever-busy marina.
- >Under normal circumstances, you’d be able to see that marina.
- >Lots of bright colored sailboats and skiers added some color to the deep blue ocean.
- >Now? That view was becoming increasingly obscured.
- >And the obscurer was coming nearer with each massive step.
- >Her scales were an even deeper blue than the ocean.
- >Her milk-chocolate colored stomach and busty chest were free for all to see.
- >That yellowish hair of hers, tinted slightly green because of her aquatic lifestyle.
- >And if her coming from the marina wasn’t an indicator of her swimming abilities, the fins on either side of her head certainly were.
- >This is what you get for telling her where you work.
- >And it was such an innocent question too. God, you didn’t think that one through.
- >You’ve told her time and time again to steer clear of the city, but…
- >Boy, the suits in Washington were gonna give you an earful for this one.
- >Believe it or not, contrary to what officials around the world like to spout, humans can’t make a titan do anything.
- >The girl was almost 300 feet tall. She’s gonna go wherever she pleases.
- >Speaking of feet, her massive soles took up the entirety of the eight-lane avenue below.
- >Most drivers were smart enough to veer off to other streets, and those that couldn’t do so saved their vehicles by abandoning them at the sides of the road.
- >As for the cars left in the middle of the road…
- >Well, she tried to avoid them.
- >Mostly.
- >Her prehensile tail swung behind her, helping the giant keep her balance as she avoided crushing most of the important obstacles in her path.
- >She wasn’t a bad girl, but being enormous tends to result in smaller things getting flattened.
- >She toed around what she could, but couldn’t do anything to stop pulverizing the pavement below.
- >Cracks formed wherever her three-toed feet slammed down. The road could support a semi, but that was nothing compared to the weight of a macro coming in at fifty thousand tons.
- >And that was the conservative estimate.
- >At less than a dozen steps away from your skyscraper, with the avenue clear of people, the behemoth girl smirked and jogged towards the building you were in.
- >As she closed the distance, your braver coworkers who stayed to watch lost their nerve and bolted to the stairs.
- >No surprise there. They haven’t seen her in action like you have.
- >Her voluptuous chest collided with her swinging arms as she ran straight towards you.
- >Part of you wanted to record this, but that would have meant tearing your eyes away from the once-in-a-lifetime event in front of you.
- >Powdered pavement and crushed vehicles were kicked up behind her on a few steps.
- >Leg muscles that could have levelled the building skidded her incredible mass to a halt just a few dozen feet from the building.
- >Crushed asphalt and twisted metal were bulldozed into clumps at her toes.
- >The kaiju girl bent her knees and began muttering to herself, pointing a neon-blue claw at each floor as she counted.
- >For a few seconds, you were actually looking down at her.
- >You couldn’t remember the last time that happened.
- >”Ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen…”
- >She counted all the way up to the 25th floor, where you were standing in front of a window.
- >You began waving your arms as her emerald eyes peered through the glass.
- >It wasn’t hard to find you; you were the only one brave enough to stay.
- >Her face took up your entire view.
- >”Hey! How’re ya’ doin’, Honey?!”
- >Such a lovely voice.
- >Loud, but lovely.
- ”Great!” You shouted back.
- >You also had to be loud.
- “What are you doing?! I thought we weren’t meeting ‘till the weekend?!”
- >She scrunched her face.
- >Oh dammit, she couldn’t hear.
- >She raised a claw and delicately poked one of the large windows.
- >Behind that slight touch was enough force to flip over a tank. The glass stood no chance and shattered to pieces.
- >”Much better.” She mused. ”What’d you say, Sweetie?”
- >You sighed, looking over the shards of glass that fell over the carpet.
- >What’s a little more property damage?
- “I’m good.” You called. “Now, why are you here? Our date’s this weekend.”
- >”Well, I was in the neighborhood, and…”
- >She looked at you hopefully.
- >She knew how you felt about “visits” to any city.
- “And?”
- >”Well, okay, so me and the girls are gonna hang out and uh… well, I got a problem.”
- “And what would that be?”
- >Her jaws parted and opened wide.
- >She exhaled, and warm, salty air washed through the open window to fill the entire office.
- >A clawed finger pointed at one of the bottom molars on the right side of her mouth.
- >”Shumting’s schtuch.” She mumbled, using a finger to keep her jaw open.
- >Her wagging tongue, unable to completely form the correct words without her lips, spattered small globules of saliva across the unbroken panes of glass.
- >You couldn’t believe your ears. Did you hear that right?
- “You came all this way just to ask if something was stuck in your teeth?”
- >”Guh huh.”
- >You stood there, stunned.
- >”Ihz et uh car or shumting?” Your gigantic girlfriend continued, completely oblivious to your astonishment.
- >”Chan youg pleash ‘elp?”
- >You were sighing more than Hank Hill ever did.
- >Well, she did come all this way.
- >But damn, you were going to have a talk with her about this on the weekend.
- “Fine. Fine. Just…” You trailed off.
- >You needed a moment to work out the logistics of performing emergency dental work.
- >You decided on the stupidest option.
- >“Bring you head closer here, alright?” You ordered, motioning toward the broken glass.
- >The monstrous maw pressed against the building’s façade.
- >You glanced downward to see the kaiju brought her hand up below the hole in the building in case you fell.
- >Looked like she caught onto your plan.
- >Most people would consider dating a girl this size a dangerous task.
- >They’d be right.
- >But this might very well be the most dangerous thing you’ve done with her.
- >You’ve stared at her pearly whites before, she’s got a great smile, but this was closer than you’ve ever been to them.
- >How she keeps them so white without a dentist is a mystery you might never solve.
- >Saliva dripped from her upper palate and pooled on and beneath her huge tongue.
- >Thankfully, her body was so large it blocked out the gusts of wind that blew across the city.
- >There wasn’t much of any gap to fall through, but it didn’t make this task any less hazardous.
- >You hopped out of the 25th story window onto her wet, slick tongue.
- >Jesus, how many people can say they’ve done that?
- >The giant inhaled and exhaled through her nose. It was a surreal experience hearing it in such a strange position.
- >You took a deep breath of the warm, moist, and feminine air.
- >The city needed a hero to get this monster out of town.
- >The monster also needed a hero too, so this was a win-win.
- >You used her teeth as a guiderail to avoid slipping as you ruined your shoes by trudging through pools of kaiju saliva.
- >Thankfully, the toothache wasn’t too far in. You didn’t want to get close to that cavern in the back.
- >A small (for her) piece of rebar was wedged between the gum and surrounding teeth.
- >She could digest most of anything, but still you had to wonder what exactly she’d been eating.
- >More importantly, just how much force could her jaw slam down with to chew through wherever this had come from?
- >It was a slippery grip, and took a few tries, but you wedged the rebar back and forth enough to pull it out and away.
- >A grunt of satisfaction shook the entire chamber.
- >You fell back against her tongue and tossed the rebar to the back of her throat. Her body would put it to good use.
- >With slow, careful movements you managed to stand up, but just as you got your bearings a massive, blue thumb and forefinger snatched you from your damp perch.
- >You hugged the claw for dear life as the kaiju-girl gently placed you back inside the office.
- >While you made it in without a scratch, the same couldn’t be said for the windows.
- >Her fingers brushed against the frame holding the adjacent panes in place, cracking the both of them.
- >You sighed again. No way the government spooks were going to let you keep your job here after this one.
- >Somewhere outside of town, here you come.
- >”Aw, yeah, much better.” The colossal girl praised, rubbing her cheek where the bothersome rebar used to be.
- >For a few moments the kaiju just watched you struggle to brush and flick the copious saliva off yourself.
- >”Thanks a million, Anon.”
- “Only for you.” You answered, smiling up at her. “Seriously, only for you. I’m not doing that for any of the others, no matter what.”
- >”Aww, love you too, Hun.”
- “Just… Don’t step on anything when you head out, you hear?”
- >That got a building-shaking chuckle out of your kaiju.
- >”Only for you.” She answered, turning away from the building.
- “And don’t play with the boats either!” You yelled to her before she got out of earshot.
- >”Pssh… Spoilsport.”
- >Her first footstep was a light one.
- >For her, anyway.
- >Each stride down the avenue further obliterated the roadway beneath.
- >What was just a cracked street before was now a random series of three-toe pawprints compacted into the earth.
- >That probably had something to do with the newfound, confident sway she put into her hip movements.
- >With even fewer toys in her path to worry about, she was free to walk as she pleased.
- >Halfway down the boulevard the kaiju’s lengthy tail curled into the shape a heart and she turned her head to give you a sultry wink.
- >For the first time today, you let out a happy sigh as you fished out your phone.
- >Wet with saliva, but functional.
- >You managed to snag a nice, crisp picture just as she stepped over the beach and into the sea.
- >Assuming the phone survived, that was going to be your new background.
- >As you admired your friend’s enormous rear the phone began to vibrate.
- >And like clockwork, there’s the congressman.
- >Now, time for your least favorite part of the job.
- >Damage control.
- >On the plus side, you had a date to look forward to this weekend.
