'The last student to depart the schoolhouse took pause at the door to politely greet someone outside it. The individual in question tipped his hat smartly, inviting the little girl's amusement, then entered. He again doffed his hat, as a gentleman should, and addressed Miss Lalonde.
"Hullo, ma'am," he said by way of greeting.
"Hello, Mister...?"
"Egbert, ma'am, John Egbert. Please excuse my comin' in here without askin'. I was told to speak to you regardin' a certain David 'Snoop Dogg' Strider. But where are my manners? How do you do, Miss Lalonde?"

"Right. And I hear tell from her that Strider is your brother," Mister Egbert said pointedly.
"I daresay /your sister/ would know of his whereabouts better than I, Mister Egbert," Miss Lalonde replied coolly.
