  1. While Rose waffles on about neglecting an essay and assigning that time to some passive aggressive jibe at her mother, you flip to the allegedly "well-written" portion that damned your litersona.

  3. 'The last student to depart the schoolhouse took pause at the door to politely greet someone outside it. The individual in question tipped his hat smartly, inviting the little girl's amusement, then entered. He again doffed his hat, as a gentleman should, and addressed Miss Lalonde.
  4. "Hullo, ma'am," he said by way of greeting.
  5. "Hello, Mister...?"
  6. "Egbert, ma'am, John Egbert. Please excuse my comin' in here without askin'. I was told to speak to you regardin' a certain David 'Snoop Dogg' Strider. But where are my manners? How do you do, Miss Lalonde?"

  17.
  18. Wow, uh. This is not the right notebook.
  19. While you can't help wondering where that's going, particularly whether or not Rose actually finds you that annoying, you exchange the notebook for another to avoid a premature death and flip to the correct section.

  21. 'The apprentices, though youthful with respect to their wither-faced superiors, were nonetheless quite as solemn and pensive. Thus they could be located outside the council chambers, bony hands entwined in contemplative thought as their beards were not yet of sufficient length nor lustre to justify molestation.
  22. Their introspection was superseded by a cacophony on the staircase. The reverberations off the stones intensified the already unpleasant sound of Stoneheart's supercilious boots, preceding his entry to the chamber.
  23. "Greetings—" began one of the acolytes.
  24. "Greetings, brethren," overrode Stoneheart. "I take it
