  1. <Pose Tracker> Akemi Ohashi [U] has posed.
  2. This seemed to happen a lot, with Yuuki. Akemi sat at a restaurant she didn't entirely want to be at, ordering food expensive enough to make her cry, trying and failing to look surreptitiously at the door for the kid she was going to get to do something stupid for her. The auspice that kept her in constant contact with the rest of her paranormal friends... only worked on Yuuki but once, and so she was /forced/ into waiting at the diner and probably would wind up paying for his food too, given circumstances.
  3.
  4. I mean, he was the one who had almost killed her, but she still felt bad. It was mostly her fault anyway.
  5. <Pose Tracker> Yuuki Hikaru [U] has posed.
  6.
  7. Opening the door and stepping in after it quietly shuts behind him, Yuuki lets out a quiet yawn despite having gotten here surprisingly quickly for the laid back teen. He scratches the back of his neck for a brief moment, eyes gazing left and right for a minute or two before he vision locks onto Akemi. Grinning slightly, he slips his hands into his jean pockets before he quietly walks over, taking a seat across from her as he lets out a breath. "I'm here.. So wait- what was it you wanted to talk about again? I forgot." he says, as eloquent as ever as his left hand comes over to push his glasses back up onto the bridge of his nose as he crosses his right leg over his left, getting rather comfy in his seat. He seems cheery enough.
  8. <Pose Tracker> Akemi Ohashi [U] has posed.
  9. "H-hi, Hikaru-san," Akemi said uncertainly. Maybe she's the only one that takes life-threatening situations to heart. "Mostly, uh, it's about the TV. You've probably heard the rumors- I mean, uh, living here, I've come to understand that it's hard not to have heard of them. You know, the one, about what happens if you..." and here Akemi trails off, because apparently (as confirmed by a quick scan of her notes) she neglected to ask the mundane form of the rumor. "Uh, about the odd activity of the television sets here?" Akemi finished. Nailed it.
  10. <Pose Tracker> Yuuki Hikaru [U] has posed.
  11.
  12. Blinking, Yuuki tilts his head over to the side as he purses his lips, squinting with his left eye slightly as he hums quietly in contemplation. "Mmm'- Oh!" he says, before he snaps his fingers with his right hand and looks back over towards Akemi with a lopsided grin, "You mean the Midnight Channel, right?" he asks with a bit of interest himself. Sitting back in his seat, his right hand comes down to gently tap his fingers along the tabletop. "Well, truth be told I don't know too much about it. Apparently if you watch it at midnight you'll see your soul mate or something, but..." he begins, furrowing his brows as he tilts his head back, "Not only did I get a bunch of girls, but I also got a lot of guys. As far as I knew I wasn't a playboy." he says with a slight frown, before shrugging and looking back to Akemi, "That's all I can really recall. Why?"
  13. <Pose Tracker> Akemi Ohashi [U] has posed.
  14. Akemi dutifully inscribes the mundane form of the rumor in her notebook. It's a big notebook. "Yeah, uh, that. A-apparently, the TVs here are, uh. Well, you'll believe it. They're portals into some sort of a space, wherein one's personal... personal issues are rendered into litteral extant monsters. And you fight them- or, rather, people fight yours in your stead, and then, provided you can own up to them, uh, you get a Persona. My research is... clearly not very good at getting Personae, so. This presents a rare oppertunity, for me," Akemi orates. She looks at Yuuki intensely. "B-but, I need your help. I can't fight my own issues- and even if I could, I don't have the power, so the monsters wouldn't yield to me. B-but you can! And, uh. I've been gathering people together to help me out. But, well. I need more. And, I hate to beseech something like this from you, especially after last time, but it's basically vital. S-so, will you help me, then, Yuuki?" she said. As she concluded, she looked about. Nobody reacted. She'd like to think that she's not that oblivious, but... who really listens to everyone's idle chatter?
  15. <Pose Tracker> Yuuki Hikaru [U] has posed.
  16.
  17. Yuuki brings his right and over to scratch his chin for a moment, quirking a brow as he listens to her, neatly folding his hands in his lap in the meantime. When she's finished, he stares at her for a second with what appears to be a slight frown- his own look rather intense, as if he were about to flip the table and yell out no. But then he snickers and smirks, "You could've just asked me to tag along. Sure." he says with a shrug, tilting his head back to stare up at the ceiling. "I mean, friends help each other out, right?" he says, before looking back down to her. "Also, what was with you saying my first name like that." he asks with a quirked brow before his brows descend drastically and a mischievous smirk plays on his lips. "Don't tell me you've got the hots for me?" he teases with a chuckle, resting his chin in his right palm.
  18. <Pose Tracker> Akemi Ohashi [U] has posed.
  19. Goddamn European upbringing goddamn practically-American brother goddamn Yakuza asshole goddamnit it all to hell.
  20.
  21. Akemi blushed cherry-red. "A-uh. N-no, it w-was a slip of t-the tongue. I-I'm, um. N-not interested, uh, i-in men, i-in that sort of capacity. Uh. F-fuck," Akemi said.
  22.
  23. Minutes pass. Akemi slowly returns to her... slightly less nervous, usual self. "S-so we're friends now, Yuuki- I mean, i-is that how friends work? I-I wouldn't, uh, I wouldn't know. B-but you mean it! You'll, uh, you'll come along, even if it's really dangerous? A-are you, are you sure- I m-mean, after w-what happened last time I asked you to do something, uh, to do something, relating to my research?"
  24. <Pose Tracker> Yuuki Hikaru [U] has posed.
  25. Leaning back and his seat and gently cupping a hand over is mouth, Yuuki suppresses a chuckle before he sighs. "I'm just kidding, I'm just kidding." he says with a quiet snicker afterwards, waving his right hand dismissively before he sighs and settles down. After the few minutes pass and Akemi has come back to being a bit less nervous, he looks up from his phone for a second as he was checking the time as he hears her speak up. "Well, we're meeting up and pretty much hanging out from time to time, right? I think that's friends in my book." he says with a shrug of his shoulders. "And sure, I'll come along. It'd be bad if you got hurt and all after all. Though Kai may want to come as well, so mind if I drag him along?" he asks with a quirk of his right brow. He blinks at the last question, "What do you mean after what happened? I just got tired is all and was a little spooked." he says with a bit of a confused expression.
  26. <Pose Tracker> Akemi Ohashi [U] has posed.
  27. "U-uh, I-I guess we are, t-then. A-and, of course bring Kai! T-the more the merrier, so long as you don't bring anyone without a Persona. Anyone else without a Persona. I've come to understand that that would be, uh, that that would be very very bad," Akemi explains. "A-and, uh. I guess, uh, having your psyche run rampart because of drugs, uh, p-probably not the most pleasant experience. B-but I'm glad to know, uh, to know that you have more confidence in me than, uh, than I do."
  28. <Pose Tracker> Yuuki Hikaru [U] has posed.
  29. Yuuki Hikaru offers a nod, crossing his arms along his chest as he does so. "Hm-hm. Alright, I'll bring Kai then. And he's the only one I would bring because well, he's the only life-risking person I know." he says with a shrug as he grins. "And well, I guess it wasn't /too/ nice of a feeling but more or less I was fine. No need to worry about me." he says with a wide smile. He stops for a moment though, frowning when she mentions the lack of confidence in herself. "Well, why aren't you worried about yourself? That isn't very healthy you know." he says with a rather concerned stare.
  30. <Pose Tracker> Akemi Ohashi [U] has posed.
  31. Time to give The Speech again. Akemi should really write it down. "Uh, handling radium with your hands is also very unhealthy, b-but Marie Curie is still regarded as one of the foremost chemists, and, really scientists, uh, ever. And, the process of smallpox vaccination was also tremendously unsafe in its early years, but we still regard it as one of our greatest triumphs. So really, it doesn't matter, overmuch, how unsafe this is, for me. I /need/ to do this. This could be the secret to, well, to everything! Energy generation, medicine, apparently psychotherapy- immortality! Hikaru-san, it doesn't- it doesn't matter! If this is a shot at immortality I /have/ to take it- without immortality, living is dangerous! Even if I wean down my life expectancy by decades, there's little difference between living for eighty years and living for thirty, compared to living for eighty years and living for eighty million million million years! A-and this isn't for me- this is for everyone! This is for you, and for the people at this restaurant, and tiny babies just begining to live their thirty or their eighty years, and, and for those almost at the end of theirs! S-so it's important! It's the most important of all things!"
  32. <Pose Tracker> Yuuki Hikaru [U] has posed.
  33.
  34. Yuuki crosses his arms along his chest and shuts his eyes for a moment, before he takes on a more serious tone and says, "It's unhealthy.". Having practically shot down everything she's said, he opens his eyes and stares at her somewhat sternly, "Whether what you're going to do is safe or not doesn't matter. If you go into something with no confidence, whether it's for your own or another sake, chances are you will be running out of there with your tail between your legs." he says, glancing over his shoulder idly, "Besides, a life with immortality seems rather boring." he says, before looking back, "But if you /want/ that, you need to be confident in yourself as well as those around you." he says.
  35.
  36. Raising his right index finger to point upwards at nothing in particular, he carries on, "Whatever you're going to face, if you don't face it with some form of courage and self-confidence, even with everyone's help you'll no doubt collapse. But, from what I've seen.." says Yuuki, tilting his head back as he leans back in his chair, tipping it somewhat as the chair dares to fall back on him. "You're strong. Even when you're under pressure, you will try and see things through to the end. So I believe in you, so you should believe in yourself a bit more as well." he says, before looking back towards her and offering a thumbs up and one of his trademark happy grins, "So ease up, alright? I've got your back."
  37. <Pose Tracker> Akemi Ohashi [U] has posed.
  38. "I-I-T- I- You're right, Yuuki. I-I've got this. I know what I want, I know how to get it, and I... I know what I'm doing," Akemi says, mostly serving to resassure herself. "A-and, uh. And you're /wrong/ about living forever. No matter what, even you, I don't think, will want to, to talk to someone, one more time, or to eat food just once more, or, or to see another sunset! A-and this doesn't stop, and you never run out of things you want to live for!"
  39. <Pose Tracker> Yuuki Hikaru [U] has posed.
  40. Yuuki simply shrugs with a quirked brow and momentarily shut eyes, "Well, in my opinion it's because that I will potentionally lose everything that I am able to enjoy it so much." he says, opening his eyes to stare at Akemi, "And it's fair for that to be your opinion- All opinions are fair, in well.. My opinion." he says with another shrug and a smirk. "But cheating death is never, /ever/ good." he says, now staring rather critically at Akemi as he says this. "After, death is here for a reason. And it's one of those cycles that I feel is necessary. How else are we supposed to move forward if some things can't be left behind?"
  41. <Pose Tracker> Akemi Ohashi [U] has posed.
  42. "Y-you can't move forward, if there's none of you left! Just like, like fire is not a vital part of the development of a log, but it's end, death isn't like, like heartbreak, or, or like any of the myriad sufferings that characterize the human condition- it's not something that helps you improve yourself, or, or that- you're just done after it! Like the log is just ash, you're just a corpse!"
  43. <Pose Tracker> Yuuki Hikaru [U] has posed.
  44. Yuuki links in his fingers inbetween his hands, tapping his thumbs together for a moment as he listens to her rather intently with a quirked brow. "What do you think would happen if people stopped dying?" he asks with a quirked brow. "For one, if it's a individual- you'd be sought after as a test subject, and humanitarian rights would be thrown out the window as they begin to poke and prod at what makes you work. Excruciating, especially if you cannot die." he says, tilting his head back, "If it's the majority, then there will be more people coming in and literately none leaving. Things like war and starvation may end, yes, but now we're running out of food, resources, land, and change." he says, before looking back down to stare at her with a twitch of his right brow. "When food runs out, we will be driven to the brink of starvation. Our bodies will be a simple layer of skin over bone, minimal muscle, and organs. That's hardly living. When we run out of resources, all those beautiful sunsets in nice grassy plains will be the simple sign of another claustrophobia day in practical barren wastelands of dirt and what little stumps of what were once trees that are left. Capitol punishment for whatever the worse crime could be could escalate as far as putting someone in a barrel, filling it with cement, and then dumping it in the bottom of the ocean. There are lots of things that could happen, and almost none of them would be good." he says. "The end of one thing theoretically allows for the increased possibility of survival for another- while also potentially guaranteeing death for another lifeform. Life isn't fair, but if it were I'm sure it'd be much more pleasant in the world... But death is why things are running so smoothly now. I am alright me and others dying, because then I know someone- or something else will at least have the smallest of chances at surviving." he says before sighing, "Essentially, I'm alright with dying if everyone else is alright in the end. Immortality is selfish if anything.
  45. GAME: Save complete.
  46. <Pose Tracker> Akemi Ohashi [U] has posed.
  47. Akemi was stunned. Briefly. "I- T-that's, uh, that'd be true, but for space. Yuuki, space is really, really big, and not altogether too difficult to get at, especially if you're possessing of corporal immortality. I mean, roughly five times ten to the eighty-first people could fit in the universe, uh, theoretically. I mean, all of this would be a problem, if everyone woke up undying, today, and then we also abandoned Lunar and Martian colonization efforts. B-but I'm not worried- I-if it did become a problem, I would, Uh. I mean, I think we'd organize a system of stepping down, uh, so to speak," Akemi explained, having regained her composure.
  48. <Pose Tracker> Yuuki Hikaru [U] has posed.
  49. Yuuki tilts his head to the side, frowning as he says, "And how long would that take? Sure, if military funding was dropped due to the lack of death, then it could be put towards bigger and better things, but just how much do you think would be allocated to the colonization of the Moon and Mars? Governments have much different mentalities than you and I. And a lot of Governments make a living off war, believe it or not. When war, altogether, is no longer possible to be conventionally waged- their gross domestic product will sharply drop. They don't have the resources, or /anything/ to make money out of anything else. When nothing works, they would be absorbed into the next bigger and more successful guy on the block. Now that country has a much larger area that has no substantial worth to it. Sure they can begin to try and make residential areas to promote the growth of business, and maybe there will be the growth of business, but that will only lead to more and more peaceful annexations. And then a whole new different kind of war will be invented- the kind where death is not possible, but excruciating discomfort is. Countries will completely destroy the land and either destroy or take resources for themselves. Countries will be left to rubble with men women and children left not knowing what would happen. And there'd only be a dozen or so countries genuinely putting research into expansion into the stars. The only countries left would be the major countries in their respective part of the world. The British empire would exist once again for efficiency, and the United States of America would have to go on another island hopping campaign for expansion and to keep up with other countries. The Soviet Union would definitely rise up again, and with how things are going, eastern Europe would become something not unlike Nazi Germany. That's how I see it at least. With all that in mind, I even doubt the survival of the nation we know and love that is Japan." he says with a shrug. "Whether space is big or not won't matter, what matters is whether the priorities of those who can get us there will be in favor of the new concept of life as we know it, and properly adapting to it."
  50. <Pose Tracker> Akemi Ohashi [U] has posed.
  51. Akemi wasn't a sociologist, or a political scientist, or really anything involved in this. "I-I, uh, I'm not sure about that, b-but, the secret to immortality... I was going to say 'isn't like that', but I, I don't know, really. Maybe it is. Magic is real. I don't really know how much of what I know is wrong. B-but, there's a way around this. There's definately an ideal solution here that doesn't involve, well, mass horrors. A-and maybe I'm not going to be the one to find it but I'm damn well going to get close," she says resolutely.
  52. <Pose Tracker> Yuuki Hikaru [U] has posed.
  53. Yuuki offers a light nod, "There's definitely an ideal situation to immortality, but in truth I'm not too sure if we're getting any closer to it than we were already. Not that I'd really know, I haven't looked into it at all." he says with a shrug, before looking back to her with a grin, "Regardless of what happens though, I'll help you out. I have been helping you up until now, I don't necessarily see why I would stop anytime soon."
  54. <Pose Tracker> Akemi Ohashi [U] has posed.
  55. Akemi nodded, too. "We're getting there, definately. And, uh. And thanks, Y- Hikaru-san. Thanks so much."
