  1. Alex spent most of his youth trying to get his parents to notice him. Coming from a fairly wealthy home, both of his parents were much too busy to actually, you know, do any parenting. He acted out constantly starting at a young age, breaking dishes and throwing tantrums every now and then. He still had a sunny disposition on the rest life, acting as the stereo-typical spoiled latch-key kid and telling anyone who'd take half a second to listen how much better off he was. This would pull a sharp 180 in the very near future.

  3. Getting really sick of not having parents – in the figurative sense – he decided to do something very drastic. Targeting their love of religion, he tried to burn the church down. Being a young adolescent and not knowing exactly what to do, one of the pastors caught him before he could do any real damage. Deciding this young soul needed guidance, and this place might not be the best thing for him, he gave him something that he hoped would occupy Alex: an old guitar.

  5. He seemed to pick it up rather quick, learning how to play a couple of old kid songs by ear and moving up to something better, but hit a wall quickly. A lack of creative energy and ideas was keeping him from improving. Feeling a bit downtrodden one day, he decided to try and improve his mood by playing, and a much more developed style came out of it. Beginning to play on that, his music began to blossom, and he listened to types that like the one he'd begun to develop constantly.

  7. His outlook on life slowly began to change; seeing something with value other than money in life, he began to dig deeper into his music. The seamless string of alternative (and sometimes just depressing) lyrics/songs began to develop his psyche, giving him a more somber attitude and cynical look on things. While it did peak (or whatever a downwards peak would be) at one point, and he'd came up a bit since then as to not be a complete Marilyn Manson, his attitude had changed mostly. The world was his oyster; the oyster was an 80-year old leper with Alzheimer's, and most of it wasn't worth taking.

  9. He hit another wall once the old guitar's strings and frame began to wear. Asking his parents what he'd have to do to get a new guitar, his mother just threw a credit card at him so she could get back to work. He decided to go out and buy one of the best guitars in the store
