  2. [2017-05-03 13:38:12] <Mare-Do-Well> 10"Beloved Citizens of Roam! Do not fear, although the hour seems dark and murderous barbarians storm at our gates!"
  3. [2017-05-03 13:38:21] <Mare-Do-Well> 10"For we are Zebras! And we are Roaman! A nation of love and nobility unlike any before us, stronger in our bonds and our love of country and kin than any who could hope to strike against us!"
  4. [2017-05-03 13:38:28] <Mare-Do-Well> 10"Today is not a day for fear! It is a day for celebration! Listen to my words, your Caesar, for I bring you good news."
  5. [2017-05-03 13:38:41] <Mare-Do-Well> 10Even as they strike at our walls, our enemies have been felled by a loyal and true citizen of Roam. And thanks to his bravery and love of nation, we have captured the ringleaders of the ignoble pirate 'resistance' and their dark alliance with ponies!"
  6. [2017-05-03 13:38:48] <Mare-Do-Well> 10"Even now, they are being lead to this very place, where they will not merely stand before me, your loving Caesar, but before YOU, the zebras I have been so blessed as to lead!"
  7. [2017-05-03 13:38:57] <Mare-Do-Well> 10"Here, before you, they will be tried. And here, by you, they will be sentenced!"

  10. [2017-05-03 13:41:21] <Mare-Do-Well> 3As Mitzi, Ditzi and Shatara climb the long stone steps from the cistern up to the streets of Roam, they can see the image of Caesar lighting up the side of one of Roam's crumbling skyscrapers. Her voice rings above and throughout the city.
  11. [2017-05-03 13:42:21] * Mitzi looks around the cistern, appreciating the architecture without full comprehension of its purpose. When they near the surface she stops and watches with her ears perked, glancing back at Shatara and Ditzy.
  12. [2017-05-03 13:42:40] <Mare-Do-Well> 3In the Palace Courtyard, Bookwright, Noble_Heart and Golden_Dream react to the words as the Imperial Guards pause to listen and their hoverbot translates.
  13. [2017-05-03 13:43:02] <Mare-Do-Well> 3One of the Guards responds with a slightly incredulous, "What the...?"
  14. [2017-05-03 13:44:04] <Mare-Do-Well> 3In the hidden apothecary's basement, the zebra stirs agaisnt Get_Lost and awakens. The voice of the Caesar is the first thing he hears, pulling him out of a dream.
  15. [2017-05-03 13:44:09] <Mare-Do-Well> 3--- Session Begins ---
  16. [2017-05-03 13:49:50] * Golden_Dream has had something wrong with her fake eye as of late. She's walking up this fucking palace, and she sees her father out of the corner of her eye. His chin's up, looking down at her, with this scolding look on his face. And when she turns to face him, he's gone. Golden huffs a little. Stupid fucking glitches. She didn't really even need to hear words to know what he would say next, in his low, disappointed look. "Well,
  17. [2017-05-03 13:49:50] * Golden_Dream you're where I was now. How're you going to do any better?"
  18. [2017-05-03 13:53:55] * Golden_Dream slung her head down, hunched down like a beast of burden. The difference is, I got friends. You had me.
  19. [2017-05-03 13:58:52] * TenMihara looks to Shatara. "Golden said we wur go een tu find her friend und den she had plan, right? Yu know where we're go een? "
  20. [2017-05-03 13:58:58] <TenMihara> * Mitzi
  21. [2017-05-03 14:01:06] * mimezinga waits for the alchemist to be completely awake
  22. [2017-05-03 14:02:00] * Shatara hurries onward, clearly in no mood to pause for chitchat. "We gotta get back to the alchemist...and hope that goop doesn't have to cure for a few days..."
  23. [2017-05-03 14:08:30] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The alchemist gasps loudly as he come to full consciousness. He looks around, bewildered, getting his bearings. His first reaction upon waking is surprise and panic, first at the strange (cyber!)pony in his home. Then at the strange feelings in his own body. His eyes travel down to where his leg has been replaced by a machine.
  24. [2017-05-03 14:09:25] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Get_Lost can tell he is on the verge of a scream when the unicorn filly glomps him in a teary embrace that utterly demolishes his mental state and shifts his attention entirely to her.
  25. [2017-05-03 14:09:50] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The babbling of the girl and the responses of her father (figure) give all the signals of a happy reunion.
  26. [2017-05-03 14:10:25] <Mare-Do-Well> 3...
  27. [2017-05-03 14:11:25] * TenMihara follows Shatara as quickly and quietly as she can, loping along on her large paws and trying to avoid as much notice as possible, but sticking close to Ditzy in case anything should way lay them.
  28. [2017-05-03 14:11:29] <TenMihara> * Mitzi
  29. [2017-05-03 14:11:30] * Get_Lost as soon as the filly is distracting the alchemist, the mare trots next to the zebra and pushes the release button of the leg, letting it detatch from the lodging "Don't worry, it's not permanent"
  30. [2017-05-03 14:12:22] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Ditzi Doo swoops off suddenly, only to return moments later with what looks like some zebra's laundry. She offers a blanket to Mitzi before creating a makeshift hooded robe for herself, wrapping herself in a bright, floral-print bedsheet.
  31. [2017-05-03 14:15:40] * Shatara nods at the derpasus's quick thinking enginuity, taking a moment to tighten his own cloak for maxiumum sneakifacation.
  32. [2017-05-03 14:24:28] <TenMihara> Mitzi stifles a chuckle, but smiles at the cheerful ghoul. The smell was unfortunate, but it seemed everything she'd heard about this saintly pony was true.
  33. [2017-05-03 14:29:15] <Mare-Do-Well> 3...
  34. [2017-05-03 14:31:24] <Mare-Do-Well> 3As the Imperial Guards lead the trio through the courtyard, zebras of all stripes turn to stare. At least, those few who braved the rain and the threat from the nearby fighting. They are sharply reminded of the latter as another seraph explosion rocks the north side of Roam. This one sounded like it was inside the city itself!
  35. [2017-05-03 14:32:48] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Overhead, a Roaman zeppelin blots out the daylight filtering through the rainclouds. It's Imperial banners ripple noisily in the wind as it moves toward the combat zone.
  36. [2017-05-03 14:34:18] <Mare-Do-Well> 3...
  37. [2017-05-03 14:34:58] * Bookwright trudges wearily. Power armor isn't so great when it's unpowered.
  38. [2017-05-03 14:37:01] * Mare-Do-Well 3appears again in the apothecary's basement. "Luna damn them," she spits, her voice rippling in the ether. "Hey, Get. Doctor Sonica is... well, super busy, but alive. Looks like the E.L.R. pulled her back into service when they started taking casualties. Every doctor needed, even the mad scientist kind."
  39. [2017-05-03 14:40:14] * Mare-Do-Well 3adds dourly, "The Legate sent a bunch of Legionairres to repel the invaders, only to find a bunch of monsters in the middle of things."
  40. [2017-05-03 14:41:04] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Her eyes narrow. "The Imperials and the Enclave are shooting at each other across the Anulus Mortis. When I left, some of the pirates had started moving in to engage. And, of course, the seraphs are attacking everything. The Caesar might have summoned them here, but she's got about as much control over them as babysitters had over Flurry Heart."
  41. [2017-05-03 14:45:36] * Get_Lost frowns "not really good... we should try to tell this to the others..."
  42. [2017-05-03 14:53:48] * Get_Lost "i wonder where they are or what thy are doing
  43. [2017-05-03 15:06:31] * Get_Lost "is there some hope to explain that we need to replicate this goop to the alchemist?"
  44. [2017-05-03 15:06:39] * Mitzi comes to a halt when they reach the destination Shatara intended, but she doesn't enter. At least, she wasn't going to be the first one to enter and scare someone who was supposed to be a friend.
  45. [2017-05-03 15:07:12] * Shatara bursts through the apothecary's door-gate-thing. "WENEEDALLTHEANTIBUGJUICECUZTHEYGOTGOLDIEANDNOBLEANDBOOKIE"
  46. [2017-05-03 15:07:48] * Get_Lost points a hoofie at shatara "exactly what he said, but in zebra"
  47. [2017-05-03 15:08:26] * Get_Lost "also, what!? they got caught!? i hope it's part of a plan!"
  48. [2017-05-03 15:12:18] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Jugeote smiles at Shatara, knowing he'd be successful.
  49. [2017-05-03 15:12:57] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Mwana perks, then his ears past back. "Goldie?"
  50. [2017-05-03 15:14:19] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Mwana begins hurriedly explaining things to the still dazed Apothecary. And when the zebra doesn't immediately jump to his hooves, Mwana explains it louder and faster, with extra emphasis.
  51. [2017-05-03 15:14:48] * Mitzi slips in behind Shatara, motioning for Ditzy to come inside as well. She hunches over and attempts to stay out of the way in a corner, not understanding the flurry of stripey ponee speech.
  52. [2017-05-03 15:15:06] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Mwana then picks up the apothecary (much to the protest of the unicorn filly) and plops him in front of his chemistry station.
  53. [2017-05-03 15:15:44] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Ditzy Doo nods, stepping in and looking around. She waves a friendly hello to Get_Lost, the filly and the zebras.
  54. [2017-05-03 15:16:26] * Get_Lost waves back "Hi, mysterious caped pony, i like you"
  55. [2017-05-03 15:17:02] * Shatara meets Jugeote's eye, strolls up to her, scoops her up in his talons and forcably kisses her lips. After a good eight seconds, he pulls back and sets her back down, panting and collecting himself, and doing his best to explain to her in more-broken-than-usual Griffon.
  56. [2017-05-03 15:21:01] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Jugeote stumbles a little and gives Shatara a grin.
  57. [2017-05-03 15:21:25] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Her grin fades as Shatara explains the graveness of the situation.
  58. [2017-05-03 15:23:12] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Meanwhile, the filly moves up to her father's side, shooting Mwana a nasty look, and says encouraging things, pointing a hoof back at Get_Lost. After a few moments and a few glances, the zebra bends over his lab workstation and gets to work, occasionally sending the filly scampering for an ingredient or a vial.
  59. [2017-05-03 15:23:23] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The two talk as they work.
  60. [2017-05-03 15:23:54] * Get_Lost listens a lot, understands nothing
  61. [2017-05-03 15:24:19] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Jugeote perks an ear in there direction, and tells Shatara, "At least things are going well here. We should have the first batch of changeling-revealing goop in an hour."
  62. [2017-05-03 15:25:47] * Shatara digs Golden_Dream's note out of his safe place, nodding to Jugeote. "Are...they okay?" He nods to the alchemist. "I thought I read somewhere that cybernetics and alchemy don't play nice with each other..."
  63. [2017-05-03 15:26:14] * Mitzi looks over to Shatara. "Du we have enuff time?"
  64. [2017-05-03 15:26:37] <Mare-Do-Well> 3...
  65. [2017-05-03 15:28:17] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The huge doors into the Imperial Palace are still perfectly balanced and swing open with ease despite their weight and the passage of centuries. The Imperial Palace was built centuries before the war, and will remain for centuries after this day... barring acts of war, spirits or starspawn.
  66. [2017-05-03 15:30:27] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The richness of the interior has faded, the intricate gold and bronzework that covers railings, trim and vaulted roof tiles have become tarnished by time. Some of the statues of historically important zebras that decorate the base of pillars and alcoves set into the walls have lost heads or legs.
  67. [2017-05-03 15:31:44] <Mare-Do-Well> 3But the grand scale of the Palace has not been diminished. "This was a place where the Caesar would meet with Dragons" the grand halls still remind any who walk them.
  68. [2017-05-03 15:33:30] <Mare-Do-Well> 3At a nexus of hallways, the marble floors meet together at a life-sized sculpture of Garble, the "rightful" Dragon Lord.
  69. [2017-05-03 15:42:21] * Golden_Dream looks around. Her eyes find the statue of Garble. Hrmph."Y'all know that they wound up killin' him fer' getting the dragons all up in that stupid war, right? Or ain't y'all ever seen what's outside these here borders?"
  70. [2017-05-03 15:42:47] * Bookwright takes it in. "Wow, he's uglier than I thought he would be. Even with the usual artistic licenses."
  71. [2017-05-03 15:43:09] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The Imperial Guards are met by an officious-looking zebra in robes of an unknown station. He turns off their translation robot before speaking with them.
  72. [2017-05-03 15:44:21] * Golden_Dream smirks. "I wonder what'd happen if all th' money and time they poured int' makin' this place sparkle, they also spent..." Aaand the robot turned off. "... Okay, Bookie. We're on our own. How good are y' at talkin'?"
  73. [2017-05-03 15:44:57] * Bookwright "I'm not good at all. You might say I'm bad."
  74. [2017-05-03 15:45:38] * Golden_Dream curses to herself. "Alright, plan B. How good are y' at going on and on about tiny details?"
  75. [2017-05-03 15:46:09] * Bookwright lights up. "Depending on the subject, I can expound endlessly."
  76. [2017-05-03 15:48:15] <Golden_Dream> "Alright, we need some time. So, if you ever get the chance, find somethin' to talk about and /don't let up until they forcibly take you down/." This is the first time someone's fillybustered a death sentence in at least a century, as far as she knew.
  77. [2017-05-03 15:51:45] * Noble_Heart looked up at the statue of Garble curiously. "Well. We can certainly see why he'd be unpopular. Beyond the obvious, in any case." She glanced in the direction of the zebra officials with a frown. "We should not assume that anything We say is not understood. Those in power in Roam certainly have access to some who speak Equestrian, after all."
  78. [2017-05-03 15:52:40] * Bookwright nods. "Of course. But that doesn't mean I'm not going to badmouth them anyway. What're they gonna do, execute me twice?"
  79. [2017-05-03 15:53:32] * Golden_Dream blinks and turns around to see Noble here, too. Oh, right. She's here. "Oh, right. You're here. You're actually good at talkin'. You ever think about getting into law?" She smirks at Bookie. Attacolt.
  80. [2017-05-03 15:57:06] * Noble_Heart peers side-long at Bookwright. "Use your speech against you? It would not be the first time that idle speech was used as propaganda against the accused. Especially in the court of public opinion." She chuckled slightly at Golden_Dream's insinuation. "Today may be the first day We truly step into that particular arena. Considering the confines, and the desire for public
  81. [2017-05-03 15:57:07] * Noble_Heart legitimacy which the Caesar must necessarily harbor for her own position and power to be maintained. To do something which would cause the public to lose faith in her would be suicide. Both figurative -and- literal in her case."
  82. [2017-05-03 15:57:07] * Golden_Dream quickly gets some stuff off of her chestfloof before they go in. "Their helmets look like they took brooms and jus' stuck 'em on their heads. They got their noses so far up in th' air they can smell Ozone. They look like such brown-nosers that their powder room is jus' the sewage room here. They're teeth are so yellow they could use 'em as bike reflectors. Their breath are so stank they can work as fumigators."
  83. [2017-05-03 15:58:25] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The next hallway is filled with alcoves and grand pillars whose accompanying statues have almost all been torn down. Many have their stands defaced, crude painted words now covered by blankets.
  84. [2017-05-03 16:00:00] <Mare-Do-Well> 3A few of the Guards take the time to scowl at the vacancies where the statues used to be. Most stare resolutely ahead.
  85. [2017-05-03 16:02:45] * Noble_Heart glances towards the side walls curiously. She wondered, briefly, whom had removed the statues and when. Were they old destruction? The view of the guards made it seem unlikely. Had the Caesar removed the statues of those who's families had stood against her? That seemed far more probable. Erase any who would voice dissent. Those who would stand against their Caesar were
  86. [2017-05-03 16:02:46] * Noble_Heart traitors to blood and country and deserved naught but to be burned from the pages of history. Such was the path of fervoristic nationalism to breed a people who worshipped their leader above all else.
  87. [2017-05-03 16:03:04] * Bookwright wonders aloud, "So why are the statues missing in here? Other statues that were ruined were just left in place. What's different about these ones?"
  88. [2017-05-03 16:03:56] * Noble_Heart verbalizes her own internal despute. "We would suppose, based on the look of the guards, that they are those who stood against the Caesar's power. Their names and roles in the history of Roam erased to solidify her position. Whole families removed from positions of authority and honor in favor of a world where only the Caesar's will and view matters."
  89. [2017-05-03 16:04:12] <Mare-Do-Well> 3A couple of the Guards look at Bookwright. One calls something forward. The procession stops a moment as they turn the translator bot back on. "What was that?"
  90. [2017-05-03 16:04:56] * Noble_Heart looks in the direction of the questioner. "We were questioning the reason why the statues had been removed, rather than merely covered as so many of those defaced had been."
  91. [2017-05-03 16:05:31] * Bookwright opens his mouth to speak, but Noble_Heart gets there before he does.
  92. [2017-05-03 16:05:58] * Golden_Dream just smiles and waves.
  93. [2017-05-03 16:11:07] * Noble_Heart waves a hoof in the direction of the displeased guards. "We had suggested that, perhaps, the Caesar had ordered their removal in an effort to displace those whom had a rightful place of honor in Roam's history. Lest the populace elevate their descendants above Her station."
  94. [2017-05-03 16:16:53] <Mare-Do-Well> 3A few of the zebras look at each other, then briefly discuss whether or not to discuss such things with Equestrians. But finally, they seem to agree... at least enough to permit an answer.
  95. [2017-05-03 16:18:22] <Mare-Do-Well> 3"This is the Hall of Shame. It was filled with statues of those who were once honored here by the disgraceful Caesar of Past Roam."
  96. [2017-05-03 16:19:54] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Another clarifies, "Legates of the Final War. Explorers who weakened our boarders. Diplomats who sold out our Destiny for alliances and trinkets from foreign, non-zebra lands."
  97. [2017-05-03 16:21:49] * Bookwright "So why remove the statues then? Seems like the message would be stronger if you'd left them here and just did the name change."
  98. [2017-05-03 16:22:37] * Noble_Heart raises an eyebrow. "We can hardly see how exploration would weaken one's borders. We should think exploration would only serve to strengthen them. Threats do not disappear simply because you do not know they are there. Then they merely have the opportunity to take you by surprise."
  99. [2017-05-03 16:29:10] * Golden_Dream crooks an eyebrow. "Since /fucking when/ did commerce weaken a country?"
  100. [2017-05-03 16:29:30] <Mare-Do-Well> 3"They did not deserve to be honored. They deserved to be scorned," one Imperial Guard answers Bookwright. "It was wrong for them to be in this place. They befouled it with their presence."
  101. [2017-05-03 16:29:51] <Mare-Do-Well> 3"They've been moved... somewhere more appropriate," another adds.
  102. [2017-05-03 16:30:06] * Bookwright "Honestly, you should put all the statues back, repaint them, and rename it to the 'Hall of Sanity'."
  103. [2017-05-03 16:31:18] * Bookwright shakes his head and tuts softly. "Destroying history is never the answer. Only by learning from the past can you avoid making their same mistakes."
  104. [2017-05-03 16:31:33] <Mare-Do-Well> 3One zebra stares at Golden_Dream. "Commerce weakened us when our petty and self-absorbed leaders made trade deals that benefitted other countries more than it benefitted us." He scowls. "Like with Equestria, for example."
  105. [2017-05-03 16:34:38] * Bookwright "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."
  106. [2017-05-03 16:35:18] * Noble_Heart sighed quietly and shook her head. "We are not surprised that the Caesar says such things. For what value did old Roam give you? Architecture, safety, homes and clothes and food? What value have those things compared to a brief moment of love, or the drive to conquer all they survey?" She scowled slightly and snorted. "Such is what the new Caesar gives, after all. To declare
  107. [2017-05-03 16:35:18] * Noble_Heart a new war. Where Zebras will be victors, rather than committing suicide by their own weapons." Her voice dripped with irony and sarcasm.
  108. [2017-05-03 16:37:16] * Golden_Dream raises her eyebrows and her eyes go aflame with righteous fury. "Oh fuckin' /excuse/ me? 'Cause I /very/ much remember that y'all were all like, 'let's fuckin' close up shop and raise the price of coal so that the Equestrians have to up their trading deal' and then gettin' pissed off that when y raise th' price basement on coal, we wanna buy less coal."
  109. [2017-05-03 16:40:05] * Golden_Dream stamps her hoof. "That's not how fuckin' economies work! And when politics and pride come in the way of making good economic sense, you can't fuckin' turn up yer' goddamned nose and say, 'it was for the good of the country'."
  110. [2017-05-03 16:40:25] * Noble_Heart glanced in the direction of the floating drone. "We would wonder, then, how many of the gems which are used for your broadcasters, drones and sentries were from Equestrian mines. Surely the Caesar would not stoop so low as to utilize foreign materials in the creation of Her servants' machines, would she?"
  111. [2017-05-03 16:42:01] * Bookwright is taken aback by Golden_Dream's and Noble_Heart's unusually strong knowledge of pre-war economics. "Are you two reading textbooks when I'm not looking?"
  112. [2017-05-03 16:44:09] * Noble_Heart glances in the direction of Bookwright. "One does not need text books to know that which one has lived. We may not remember all that has transpired in the past two centuries, but it is hard to forget the reasons for the greatest tragedies in one's life."
  113. [2017-05-03 16:44:13] * Golden_Dream snorts. "Fucker, I know more about bartering than you know about socks, and I know what /you/ read whenever you think I'm not looking."
  114. [2017-05-03 16:46:39] * Bookwright is immediately grateful Golden_Dream can't see him blush slightly under his helmet. "No, really. Where did you learn that? I only know about it because of the microfilm libraries of newspapers from the war maintained by the NCR."
  115. [2017-05-03 16:46:45] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The zebra speaking to Golden_Dream shoots back. "I've heard stories that Equestria is covered in Gem Farms. Where they grow gems! You know what you /can't/ grow? Coal."
  116. [2017-05-03 16:47:35] * Bookwright opens his mouth to point out that technically coal /is/ grown, then thinks better of it.
  117. [2017-05-03 16:51:15] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The lead Imperial Guard looks increasingly annoyed as the argument continues and more of her Guards join in. She finally barks, "Enough!" (in Imperial) just before leading the troop around a corner.
  118. [2017-05-03 16:51:51] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The argument has slowed their progress, but from the looks of the Royal Hall and the six great doors on the far end (the center two of which are three stories tall), they have arrived at the entrance to the Caesar's Court.
  119. [2017-05-03 16:51:55] <Mare-Do-Well> 3...
  120. [2017-05-03 16:53:54] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The apothecary watches over his brew. He is out of practice, but despite the strangeness that surrounds him, he has taken back to it exceptionally. In part, because it takes his mind off deep worries about his leg. In part, because he is doing something with his daughter. When last he was conscious, he had resigned himself to failing her.
  121. [2017-05-03 16:54:05] <Mare-Do-Well> 3And, in part, because it was just good to be working again.
  122. [2017-05-03 16:55:16] * Get_Lost tries to explain that the leg is detacheable, and he doesn't have to wear it if he doesn't want
  123. [2017-05-03 16:55:52] * Shatara has mostly collected himself, and has goldy's scrawled note spread out on a table.
  124. [2017-05-03 16:57:58] <Mare-Do-Well> 3With much translation, and several repeats, the zebra understands. Mwana finally gleans enough to tell Get_Lost, "He is thankful. But he is worried. He has augmented his body through alchemy... many times, I think. Cybernetics and alchemy... the likelihood of rejection becomes almost certain."
  125. [2017-05-03 17:00:56] * Get_Lost "That is not really worth as cybernetics... i used a servo and two cables! really? it's almost a wooden peg! if he wants, i can make him a wheeled chair if that's really important for him"
  126. [2017-05-03 17:01:25] * Get_Lost goes in a corner and starts assembling a wheeled chair
  127. [2017-05-03 17:11:20] <Mare-Do-Well> 3--- End of Session ---
