He offered me a ride to his house and stay the night to get out of the cold, which I accepted wholeheartedly. But when I got to his house... it was a lot different than I expected.

The house itself was a wreck, with trash, graffiti, and... fluids everywhere. It reeked horribly, but the snail, who called himself "Ishnail", took me to a relatively clean room and let me stay the night there. Unfortunately, while I was warm and protected from the elements, I couldn't get much sleep, because the other guys there were making a huge riot. They got into a fight with one another, and I heard what I coulda sworn were gunshots at one point...

He seemed to be acting different from usual, as if he were hopped up on something; he was a lot louder and hyper than usual.

He knew it would be a big hit with the Toad population there, so he was gonna try to do it ASAP.

The star... spoke to me somehow, saying that where I was wasn't where I should be. I don't know what it was, but something about that star's message was really convincing. The next day, everything seemed to be back to normal, and everyone was cheery again, so I secretly left the Robbo Gang's hideout and took a boat on course for the Mushroom Kingdom again.
