» | BACKGROUND: minji was born to a well known family, in mokppo, south korea.in school, she was well known for her natural beauty and a+ results. she wasn't the girl who would talk a lot but she was a known person in school. even though her family was richh, she always tried to enjoy the small things in life. she could be the one in her friends who would always talk less but when she did, it would be so dumb that it would make everyone laugh. since a young age, she started getting ballet and singing lessons. she even participated in a lot of competitions and won awards. her father was a well known business man in the garments industry, that is until he lost everything due to a fire which ruined his factory and basically brought them to the streets. her mom, being an unsupportive wife, decided to divorce her father and got the custody of 2 of her younger siblings, leaving minji and her brother to her father. they knew their father wouldn't be able to afford anything by himself. she and her brother did 3 part time jobs in a day and manged to save the money for three of them to go to seoul. she then auditioned for yg with her dancing skills, but she wasn't accepted as she did not know any modern dancing. she then decided to learn hip hop for 1 and a half year, then auditioned for jyp ent. and got accepted. she soon got popular among the trainees for her looks but she was always very timid. she wouldn't talk much and would always focus on her dancing and singing skills. she was always praised by the trainers for which many female disliked her.
