51. In 1960, a lone survivor of a plane crash named Jack discovers an abandoned underwater utopia, only to find out that the mystery behind its creation is much more sinister than he first believed.
 52. The year is 1960, while flying over the Atlantic ocean, average citizen Jack blacks out and awakens to discover that he is the sole survivor of a plane crash. Amidst the wreckage of his plane Jack spots and swims to a lighthouse and boards a Bathysphere that takes him deep within the ocean and into Rapture. Originally conceived as a utopia where a man would be entitled to all that he made without the interference of "parasites" by idealistic billionaire mogul Andrew Ryan. Rapture has since decayed and festered from the infectious effects of civil war and anarchy, brought about by the very ideals it citizens and it's leader embrace. Aided by a sympathetic smuggler and a rogue geneticist, Jack salvages gene altering chemicals transforming himself into a superhuman, and uses his newfound powers and abilities as well as an arsenal of weapons to fend off the vicious hordes of psychotic mutants, security robots and armored supersoldiers that resulted from Rapture's unrest while given the choice to either rescue or lethally harvest the genetic material from Rapture's only citizens with a chance: the 10 year old "Little Sisters". As Jack wanders through the condemning atmosphere of rapture, he treads towards a secret that for could shatter all that he has known forever.
 53. So, I have decided to play what is considered to be one of the greatest games of yesterday's generation - Bioshock. I went in with an open mind when being told this is one of the better first person shooters on the market because... when Halo Reach almost makes my top 10 First person shooters list then I need to look on the market a bit more - no offense to Halo fans, the game was okay but I really don't think that they're that great. But onto this I really would consider it one of the better first person shooters out there.

So the game begins with you surviving a plane crash over water. Making your way to a lighthouse you then find yourself visiting the underwater city of Rapture where the original promise was it's a city where the great can aspire to be great with almost no restrictions. However when you arrive the place is overrun with people that are completely crazy due to something called Splicing, basically altering genes to increase human evolution to give people superpowers. You are asked by a seemingly friendly NPC to go up to the office of the man who built Rapture and kill him.

My biggest complaint with it is the ending, or at least the good one. So how the ending is is determined by what you do with the Little Sisters, basically holding some genetic keys to making you more powerful. You can choose to save them from having that kind of life or straight up killing them to get more of it. Anyway the ending is that... They offer the city, you refuse and you raise them as children somewhere like in a Disney movie? Is this the same game? Because if you showed me the ending I wouldn't really buy it was from BioShock.

Onto another thing, I don't really like the silent protagonist, I mean I can tolerate it but in every game I play where this happens it gives me a disconnect to the story, I don't even remember if you see his face. I only remember him saying one line and that's in the opening. Call it nitpicking but it reduces the dialogue down to the insane ramblings of the Splicers or the NPC voices in your head saying "would you kindly do this?" It just gets tiresome.

So onto what I liked, well I liked the story of the thing even if I feel some disconnect to it, I think the gunplay and weapon upgrades are really creative, as are the gene upgrades and the city of Rapture has this constant atmosphere to it that I just love and gives off the mood that whatever good was in here was quickly trans-morphed into a nightmare city. Oh I also liked the limited health because it gives off more fear, in such a way that I'd say works better then most actual horror games although with that said, it does get annoying to go back to the checkpoints, especially because it's a game where everything you have done is set in stone, regardless of whether you died doing it or not and it has respawning enemies.

So really, I don't think this game is as great as everybody is saying it is, however I would put it up there with the better First Person Shooters of today. I will play the sequels, maybe starting with the third one because, that one is considered to be the best of the series. I wouldn't really say anything else except "would you kindly respect my opinion if it's one you don't agree with".
 54. At the time i kept hearing about BioShock, a game i really wanted yet i didn't have an xbox. But i bought an xbox for several reasons: Halo, Gears of War and BioShock.

So, if i'm being perfectly honest, i really liked the look of the game and it's gameplay and stuff but i never truly understood its critical success, i didn't think it was going to be THAT good.

But.....would you kindly read on.

BioShock....is honestly one of my all time favourite games now. It's just fantastic. It has great atmosphere and interesting characters with a good story which unfolds as you pick up diaries and you slowly learn the disturbing truth the hell under the sea.

A place crash survivor ends up in the god forsaken under-water city of Rapture and it's inhabitants of drugged up psychos and drill and rivet gun wielding juggernauts.

pros first. The Level design is excellent obviously it was a difficult undertaking in an undersea city but water graphics are amazing and the whole setting is just incredibly immersive and feels real and eerie. They really have excelled themselves by making some truly twisted characters in Rapture. The two scariest ones were Dr. Steillman and Sander Cohen, these characters were well created and written to show just HOW INSANE they are, these guys are so insane it's scary. The scary characters adds to the atmosphere and its gorgeous graphics. BioShock broke a genre it made a first person shooter with RPG elements and while some developers under-develop and idea like this, 2K have perfected it and made it work well for the game. Big Daddies, while they may be easy to beat, they are an essential part of your BioShock experience.

Cons. They weapon selection system is a little off and you find yourself using the radial selection and sometimes all your plasmids and power ups can becoming slightly overwhelming.

thats it. Honestly thats the worst i can say about this game. WOULD YOU KINDLY BUY THIS GAME NOW it's one of my all time favourites and is one of they few games i consider art.

and like i said once you enter rapture....you never leave. Rapture will stay with you for the rest of your gaming life.

would you kindly ;D

 56. 1960 The Atlantic Ocean. Yes there is a Bioshock 2, and Bioshock: Infinite was announced that acts as a prequel. Yes, there are three endings.

It depends on how you dealt with every Little Sister.

You get the Good Ending if you don't harm any little sisters.

You get the Bad Ending if you harvest some of the little sisters.

You get the Worse Ending if you harvest all of the little sisters. a5c7b9f00b
