  1. Brew of Tears
  2. > In a familiar meadow dry and parched by drought stands an old tree
  3. > This has been one of the worst droughts in recent memory
  4. > Tough yellow grass sprouts up defiantly from hard caked earth
  5. > The cicadas howl through the blistering heat
  6. > Fluffies cry during this awful weather
  7. > Many fluffies have met their end at the hands of heatstroke
  8. > The playful and happy fillies and colts were the main casualties
  9. > Foals during this time are small
  10. > Weak from lack of milk
  11. > Mothers have had very little water to drink
  12. > The gray fluff have reached their limit
  13. > The "hawt bwight" has to go
  14. > With no other options the gray fluff turn to their last resort
  15. > "Fwuffy wawa fow sky wawa"
  16. > The oldest fluffy, a once pure white pegasus, is chosen
  17. > She has lived for over six years
  18. > Extraordinarily long for a fluffy
  19. > As she walks towards the dry river bed spotted with contaminated puddles the herd follows
  20. > Her weggies are weak, and she practically crawls there
  21. > Each step causes her thin gray/white fluff to float wispily in the air
  22. > Were it not for her hooves beneath her she would appear to be floating like a ghost
  23. > Tired light blue eyes stare at nothing in particular as marches to fulfill her duty
  24. > The sky ball did not like the berries, it didn't like the flowers, it didn't like the words they spoke
  25. > Gray fluff had failed
  26. > It was up to them to make it better
  27. > Behind her the once blue and red unicorn drags a leaf filled with silly berries
  28. > "Whew owdestest mummah gowin?"
  29. > A young white and yellow pegasus asks to her mother
  30. > "Owdest mummah gotta make sky happeh, ow nuu wawa come fow fwuffies..."
  31. > The foal looks confused
  32. > She was born, raised, and now weaned all without seeing rain
  33. > "Wha? Sky nuu wawa, sky hawt, bad fow fwuffes, wiffow haff yikkie wawa..."
  34. > The green algae tainted puddles before the herd are undrinkable
  35. > This herd has gone two days without any water whatsoever
  36. > Unwilling to risk sickness after a young stallion decided to try and drink and didn't survive
  37. > If they hadn't been sleeping nearly that whole time even more would have died from thirst
  38. > "Gway pointeh... gway wigie is weady..."
  39. > These fluffies have long since forgotten their original names
  40. > Gray wing has lived long enough, and it's time to help the herd
  41. > Her oldest friend Gray point gives her the berries
  42. > Slowly the old pegasus eats the whole pile
  43. > Were it not for her built up immunity she would die within the minute
  44. > Despite this she still gets sick
  45. > Years of consuming silly berries leave her weaker than normal
  46. > Her body is numb and the ritual begins
  47. > "Gway winhgie *hic* iss..is weaahdyyyyy oooo..."
  48. > The gray pegasus lays on her back facing the sun
  49. > "Ouuhouuu weggies suu hiiiiighhhh heahheahheah..."
  50. > She wiggles her legs above her happily babbling
  51. > Now unaware of what is happening
  52. > Point and his fellow gray earth fluff set about their grim task
  53. > With a sharp rock they found in the river the two fluffies jam the stone into her stomach
  54. > "EAhagghhhh! Huuuwwaaaa dat? Whaaa happen? Feeewww funnehhh.... in fuh..neahhhh.. pwace..."
  55. > The numbness doesn't completely remove the pain
  56. > But, she can't tell where she is hurt
  57. > "Fwiends... hewp fwuffy... fuahhfee enuu.. nuu wan diee.... hewp.."
  58. > The once willing fluff has a change of heart, but it is already too late for her
  59. > The two males aren't done yet as they draw the rock down her belly and remove it
  60. > With great effort and with the terrified gasps of onlookers the two grays use their teeth to widen the hole
  61. > Pulling on each side of the wound they rip the fragile elderly skin from ribcage to teat
  62. > "GHhaaauu! GAUuugahauuuu! ahhh! HAaaauuu! HEewp! Nuu! Aga! Nuu wan huwteahhggg..."
  63. > Blood has begun flowing from her mouth
  64. > the fluffies then reach their faces into her guts and begin to tear out her intestines
  65. > The organs trail in two directions draping down her sides
  66. > "AAAAAAAAAH!"
  67. > Several onlookers who have never seen the ritual begin screaming
  68. > Fillies, colts, foals, and young adults all cry and scream for their oldest mother
  69. > "Nuu! Owd mummah! Gway mummah! Why huwt?! Why nuu hug? Mummah nee hewp!"
  70. > Older adults hold back their children as the gray fluffies continue their task
  71. > Then the pegasus stops fighting and simply whimpers
  72. > "pwease... hewp... huwt... nuu feww pwitteh... suu hawt..."
  73. > The sun bears down on the exposed organs and skin
  74. > She'll live for a while yet
  75. > Placing several red berries in her body the gray are finished and step back
  76. > Their front legs and faces drenched with blood
  77. > "SKY! WISSEN SKY! BOOBOOJUICE FOW SKY! FWUFFY GIFF MOWST IMPOWTANT WAWA! GIFF AWW WAWA! SKY GIFF SOME WAWA FOW HEWD!"
  78. > The gray fluffies all shout at the sky for water
  79. > Save the eviscerated pegasus still twitching and breathing shallow on the river bed
  80. > "SKY TAKE NUMMIES! NEE NUMMIES FOW WAWA! HAFF SADDIES FOW FWUFFIE! FWUFFY SADDIES CUZ' NUU WAWA!"
  81. > Then a crow descends on the corpse taking berries and bites of flesh
  82. > "Hewd! Saddies biwdies hewe to take nummies tuu sky! Wun to twee! Nuu wan saddies tuu!"
  83. > Fleeing from the begging elder the fluffies watch from a safe distance
  84. > Soon over a dozen crows are eating from the still breathing fluffy
  85. > Then the fluffies see the biggest scariest bird they've ever seen
  86. > A vulture swoops down and forces the crows away
  87. > "Hewd! Sky heaw fwuffies! Biwdies take nummies tuu sky! Sky cwy fow fwuffies soon! Haff wawa fow fwuffies!"
  88. > The herd waits anxiously, too afraid and mesmerized by the spectacle to look away
  89. > Many are trembling with fear and cry wet sloppy tears for their oldest mother
  90. > "Nyouuu, owdest mummah... why huwties... why wongest sweepies... wan hug nuu can..."
  91. > Bit by bit the pegasus is torn to pieces until nothing remains save a flimsy skeleton which falls to pieces
  92. > The herd cries hard, their final prayers left unanswered by the meanie sky
  93. > A friend sacrificed to try and keep the herd alive to no avail
  94. > Then as the sun starts to set the black kitty monster's tail begins to flick rapidly
  95. > He also tried to get a piece of the fluffy body before the vulture scared him off
  96. > Now sprinting he returns to his hollow, igniting cries of "nuu huwt!" from the terrified youth
  97. > Almost as if on cue the sky thunders in the distance
  98. > Fluffies notice over the clearing gray clouds aproaching
  99. > "Mummah! Owdest Mummah comin back! Owd mummah FWYIN! Fankoo owd mummah! Wuv ouu owd mummah! Waaaahh!"
  100. > The onlookers cheer and cry as the storm clouds draw closer signaling not only rain, but the return of their friend
  101. > With cool air sweeping over the field the fluffies are all celebrating
  102. > Thanking their oldest mummah for helping the herd
  103. > With the drought over and the sun obscured by clouds
  104. > The sky cries with the fluffies
