- VENKELVORE'S ANTIPALADIN CODE
- Antipaladins of Venkelvore are depraved, gluttonous, and vainglorious. They seek to be the center of adoration of other creatures and to glut themselves on anything they get their hands on.
- Venkelvore's Antipaladin Code contains the following adages.
- - I am the most beautiful of all! If anything thinks they are more beautiful, I will destroy them!
- - I deserve adoration! If any refuse to praise me, I will make them!
- - To go hungry is to suffer! I will eat as much as I can so that I will never have the pain of an empty belly!
- UNDERSTANDING VENKELVORE
- Reckoned the most beautiful of the four barghest deities, Venkelvore is immense, grotesquely obese, and suffers from an insatiable hunger. Vain and gluttonous in the extreme, she frequently steals what morsels of food she can from others and demands utmost adoration from those she interacts with. At times even her servants suffer for her hunger as only sentient humanoid flesh satisfies her for even a short time.
- Goblins credit her for their voracious appetites and ability to stomach anything remotely edible. It is said that the goblins she created could eat anything, even materials like rocks or wood. She taught them what was tastiest and how to pickle food into delicious salty sour meals that can be stored indefinitely for later consumption.
- Venkelvore is also a depraved sadist with a fascination for graves and funeral rites as she compares buried dead to a finely pickled morsel. Her hunger extends beyond the physical need for food as she regularly practices disfiguring tortures on her enemies and even her servants. When unable to perform such acts, she is said to go into long bouts of sleepy, irritable, torpor.
- Venkelvore almost never takes worg form. In her barghest form she towers over the other Hero-Gods as a corpulently obese barghest with smooth flawless skin and sleek fur. In goblinoid form she appears beautiful (by goblin standards) and a much healthier degree of fat, making her goblinoid form her preferred form.
- Her favor is shown through finding forgotten or strangely placed pieces of food, while her disfavor is shown through food inexplicably disappearing when no one is looking.
- VENKELVORE'S CHURCH
- Venkelvore's followers are encouraged to pursue their own sense of vanity and to take any means never to go hungry. Her most ardent worshippers claim that goblinoids can feed on pain itself and are encouraged to regard torture as a sort of meal.
- Goblins following Venkelvore tend to gravitate towards positions that allow them control over food stores, especially if it lands them the ability to be an object of desire to others. Hobgoblin followers of Venkelvore are rare but those that do tend to focus more on her aspects of torture. Bugbears in particular think fondly of the Hero-goddess as she encourages their sadistic appetites and the larger portion of her faithful are bugbears using her power and teachings to satiate themselves.
- Goblinoids that transform into ghouls are said to be close to divine emulation of Venkelvore and are often treated with respect and curious reverence.
- TEMPLES AND SHRINES
- Temples to Venkelvore often amount to little more than a charnel pit or graveyard with a sizable hut filled with vanity objects nearby. It is said that creatures and food placed into such graves or pits by a goblinoid will go on to Venkelvore's realm. Shrines are typically offering pedestals where food is prepared and then buried in the dirt.
- When possible, shrines and temples to the Most Glorious Neverfull are constructed in caves or underground settings to be buried closer to her interest.
- A PRIEST'S ROLE
- Priests of Venkelvore are sadistic, vain, and gluttonous, often viewing themselves as the center of their own worlds. They know the best ways to get the most out of food and drink and classic creations such as goblin pickles and bramble-sick brandy are the results of a Venkelvore follower's experimenting. Tribes consult priests of Venkelvore on matters of food, particularly how to get more of it. As such a priest of Venkelvore often finds themselves taking care of a tribe's food needs, a task they approach willingly as it typically allows them to skim extra for themselves to eat.
- Venkelvore's faithful typically supersede and manage funeral rites where they are present. The dead's guts are cut open and stuffed with foodstuffs before being buried in a marked grave. Goblins believe this will keep them from going hungry in the afterlife while hobgoblins posit this is so that when Venkelvore eventually decides to eat them, they'll have delicious stuffing for her to enjoy.
- ADVENTURERS
- Adventurous followers of Venkelvore are rare, but those that take to a life of wandering tend to do so to sate their own desires of vanity. They enter a village intent on garnering attention and adoration, taking whatever they can get away with, satiating their personal desires, and then moving on. They combat the enemies of these places not for any moralistic needs, but typically at the promise of reward and for the adoration such heroics garner.
- CLOTHING
- Venkelvore's followers tend to wear clothes that accentuate their features of 'beauty' and girth. Iconography of bones and skulls are common and those in social positions tend to wear loose-fitting and revealing clothing to appear more attractive. More practical minded followers simply wear whatever isn't tight on their bulk.
- HOLY TEXT
- As a goblinoid faith, Venkelvore has no holy text to speak of. Symbols and pictures are scratched onto her holy places but for the most part her faith is an oral tradition.
- Hungry Songs - The Hungry Songs are a collection of tales and rhymes about Venkelvores knee-weakening beauty and intense gastronomic prowess. They sing to her gifts to goblinkind: particularly their ability to not just eat but enjoy those foodstuffs that other races would find sickening. Many goblins believe that when their bellies rumble for food, they can learn parts of these songs from the sound.
- HOLIDAYS
- Celebrations of Venkelvore are typically grandiose feasts and orgies that display a very goblinesque level of decadence.
- Deadfeast - When a goblin dies, a priest of Venkelvore takes it upon themselves to organize a feast in their honor. The dead is placed upon a table at the center of the feast and their stomach is cut open. The feasters eat three quarters of their meals and then approach to stuff the rest into the open guts of the deceased. After the feast the dead is buried and the tribe takes to an organized entertainment near the gravesite. This is usually a public display of torture (preferably of the deceased's killer if there is one), but other displays such as fireworks, singing, comedy routines, or other forms of entertainment are not uncommon.
- APHORISMS
- Followers of Venkelvore speak highly of themselves and their patron. Sayings of her faith tend to have selfish connotations that speak to hunger and the dead.
- I'm Hungry! - Where to most this simple phrase is an example of whining, for a follower of Venkelvore it is often a threat to others. It is saying that if their appetites are not sated they may turn hostile upon their companions. It is also used to intimidate victims of torture as the faithful salivates disgustingly over them. Occasionally it can also be interpreted as an invitation to court and mate. "I'm Hungry! Bring me those pickles!"
- Fuggsylugs - It is common practice for a faithful of Venkelvore to use their sexuality to get what they want. Indeed, as most followers of the Most Glorious Neverfull are quite attractive by goblin standards it is considered quite the treat to partake in and most goblins will go to great lengths to appease a Venkelvore worshipper. Particularly successful or strong chieftains will often take them on to be a part of their harem.
- "Give me those shinies and I'll let you fuggsylugs!"
- RELATIONS WITH OTHER RELIGIONS
- Venkelvore is on good terms with the male barghest hero-gods. Hadregash considers her his consort and she freely mates with Zarongel when Hadregash isn't around. She frequently sneaks food from the others which occassionally provokes their animosity but it is only Zogmugot whom holds a lasting grudge against her. Venkelvore thinks of Lady Lastbreath as envious of her beauty and is unafraid to insult Zogmugot's ugliness and sabotage her scrounged creations.
- Like all the barghest hero-gods, she is loyal to Lamashtu for freeing her from Hell.
- She is on friendly terms with Trelmarixian but is jealous of Vorasha as she expects the harbinger to forcefully end her association with the horseman at any moment.
- In particular, Venkelvore gets along well with Urgathoa whom shares many of the same ideas of gluttony.
- REALM
- In the scorched and blasted wasteland of Basalfeyst, Venkelvore maintains a series of underground crypts, chasms, and tunnels aptly titled the "Delicious Catacomb". In this realm of torture and undeath whole tunnels are stocked full of foodstuffs like a macabre larder in a vain attempt to satisfy Venkelvore's eternal hunger.
- PLANAR ALLIES
- Venkelvore is served by barghests and goblinoid undead who tend to her needs and occasionally suffer for her depraved hunger.
- Memrurgas (Unique Greater Barghest) - Regarded as Venkelvore's herald, Memrurgas is the strongest daughter of Venkelvore and Hadregash. She serves her mother as a prissy and vainglorious taskmaster. It is said that her stomach is a bottomless void and that she can retroactively steal past and future meals from the bellies of other creatures.
- She prefers offerings of pickles and live creatures to torture.
