  1. Well, since that guy suddenly disappears from Loranthis's medicre ass park, Kyuri decides to make herself scarce, too. Pass by home, drop off her books, pick up her sword, and head out into the forest. Reading and learning mean nothing if you can't translate it into a physical result. And getting a chunk of her shoulder ripped out is sort of the opposite kind of result you want.
  2.
  3. Ideally, it's. Like. Getting stronger, or something!
  4.
  5. So that's what she plans to do, anyway. Shedded of her typical jacket, her left half wrapped up undernearth a very plain tank top, she drags the (very dull) tip of the blade across grass, leaving a trail behind her nearly from the doorstep of her home, and traverses casually into the Wych.
  6.
  7. Knowing her luck, she doesn't even see any lessers skittering around, the one time she might actually pay a yokai just a breath of attention. That's it. This is the moment she cna no longer deny that the universe just. Does not want her to matter. This is her enlightenment. She might as well remove her name, only say one line when clicked on, and never move again.
  8.
  9. It was time to become an NPC.
  10.
  11. Kyuri sighs, and flops on her back, in a tuft of grass, and looks to the sky. Does she even really feel like getting strong? What'll she do with strength, anyway? Sure, it would be nice to have... but what's her purpose for the pursuit, what;s her goal for self-satisfaction? Existential crisis, engage.
  12. (Kyuri)
  13. "Whoa!" Deo excalimed as he come tumbling over Kyuri, face planting into the ground past her.
  14.
  15. How did this happen? Let's find out!
  16.
  17. As the rather stubborn mute humaniod left the grasslands and headed off to do his own business. Deo made his way into the woodlands of Wych. It'd be good to sit by Asena's Bloom.
  18.
  19. That fishy bounty hunter kind of got him in his moods. Rather a down one as he couldn't seem to get to the creature. Get him to understand that killing people, beating them down brutally for no other reason but petty acts, and selling people off to the Queen wasn't the way to live. . . . But the teen was just to stubborn.
  20.
  21. The blind boy had every right to eliminate a danger such as him. But that wasn't his way. Deo truly believed that there was some way to eliminate someone from using their mana circuits. Rendering them as a normal organism who can't manupulate the elements to their will. A way to seal their potential to use Mana to their benefit.
  22.
  23. Of course, Deo wouldn't go around sealing everyones magic. He would only do it to brute as suchs and hopefully, that will get rid of potential threats that were soon to come. Maybe even stop the big ones that rule now. Of course again. . . It wouldn't just be anyone who he thinks is bad. It would be those who prove themselves to be as such. Who abuse their gifts for evil of course.
  24.
  25. Deep in his thoughts. Deo came walking straight for Kyuri where he almost came close to kicking her straight into her side as he took another step forward. But his instincts kicked in .Causing him to give himself a little hop with his foot as he lost balance and fell before Kyuri.
  26.
  27. "Owwowowowowwww!" he complained as he turned over to his side and wiped the dirt off of his face.
  28.
  29. "Man I'm sorry, can you ever forgiv- Ooh. . Your that one girl who writes down everything" he mentioned
  30. (Deo Hajara)
  31. Zack wandered through the Wychwood. He really wanted to fight someone strong, it's annoying when you can't find anyone. Under normal circumstances he would simply go to Nostvale or something to find a good opponent, but with Rindi here in Wychwood.. He couldn't risk something happening while he was gone, Rindi was just too important to him. Besides the time for all of them to act was getting closer and closer.. He could feel it, this was no time to be off looking for a fight.
  32.
  33. He sighed before hearing a rustling and someone in pain, better than nothing he guessed. He went in there direction to see Deo and some random girl.
  34.
  35. He smirked as he approached them, "Hey Deo, this your girlfriend or something?" He said playfully, he knew it probably wasn't the case, but why not just ask it to get some sort of reaction.
  36. (Zack Eden)
  37. "Oof."
  38.
  39. Foot to the rips. Not a good wake-up call from her curious daydreaming. Does she dare wander in the open, dare do anything but exist to be bullied? Well. That's totally up to fate now, isn't it? She's got some mild discomfort to react to now.
  40.
  41. She jolts up, a hand to her side, and sharply looks the way of whoever just hit her, but more clearly they seem to have fallen over her, somehow missing the sword she stuck in the ground (because geez, that could've been messy) next to her. Guy she's met before, in the desert. Before she had a home, said his name was Deo, Hajara the familial name.
  42.
  43. "Mmnn. 'S'alright. I wasn't very obvious down on the ground like I was. Yeah, I've. Dialed back a little on..." She trails off.
  44.
  45. Another one approaches, unfamiliar to her entirely and with a remark she can only blink plainly at, not as a rather poor first impression. Her only expression of any kind is a light wince of pain and a light rubbing of circles at her side.
  46.
  47. "... That."
  48. (Kyuri)
  49. Smiling, it would seem that the girl had remembered him. That was a good thing.
  50.
  51. "Dialed back a little on what? Writing things down?" He joked as he felt Zack approach them. But Deo didn't pay the man much mind as his face only turned slightly his way instead of facing him.
  52.
  53. The boy still dreaded the movement of having to face anyone who he talks too. He really didn't have to in his case as he never had used his eyes before. But as for respect. He had too.
  54.
  55. "Heyo Zac-. . . . . . . . Uhmm . . Girlfriend?" he questioned oblivious to that statement. That was one of the few words that he had never heard of. Sad truth but it was definite. He knew of the term 'Wife', 'Lover', 'Hubby', the list went on. But the term such as ' Boyfriend' and 'Girlfriend'. Never came up once, so he was lost.
  56. (Deo Hajara)
  57. Zack would shrugged his shoulders at the dry reception, he expected something like that. Oh well. He glanced between them, noting the wince of pain from the girl, but not really doing anything about it- it wasn't really needed for him to help out with something small.
  58.
  59. He tilted his head at Deo at gis cluelesness, "Hm? You don't know what girlfriend means? You know, like husband and wife, except not married." He said, moving closer to the two.
  60.
  61. "Oh by the way Deo, I wanted to ask how strong you are." He would say next, he had been itching for a good fight, and he was curious if Deo was one to give him that.
  62. (Zack Eden)
  63. Wow. Right into it. Tripping over her and then turning around and butting himself in, looking for a fight. Literally every guy she knows or meets is exactly the same person. Obsessed with strengths, consumed with the need to fight with each other and showing of no other immediate personality that overshadows that one singular purpose.
  64.
  65. Slight overstatement, but the presentation is almost always the same.
  66.
  67. Maybe she should be gay, or something. Because this measuring contest is not something she wants to be a part of, even if she becomes obscenely strong in her future. It just, all seems so redundant, so self-indulgent. It makes her want to find a different way to matter. A way to matter while never tangling herself even slightly int he concept of becoming a competent magi. She could dream, though. It's Valmasia. Everything is a measuring contest. The strong do what they want, and the weak quietly deal with it.
  68.
  69. "No. I am not anybody's girlfriend, random guy." Spoken as plainly as ever. No kindness, no harshness. She basically looks right through him, before she sits herself up, and then stands up, and pulls her sword from the ground, probably looking about ready to just go let these two dudes probably duke it out and walk off somewhere else. Because she really doesn't care. Watching them doesn't help her. She barely even wants to entertain a casual conversation at the moment. Her patience is thin enough without an introduction being a kick.
  70. (Kyuri)
  71. It had seemed that Deo was close to the meaning.
  72.
  73. Quickly his cheeks had seemed to hit a rosy red color as he stared out blindly towards Zack's direction. Giving the man his entire focus as he really didn't know how to come back from that remark.
  74.
  75. Confused and answerless, Deo just stared off after Zack as he tried to think of an answer but it just seemed that he couldn't. Not knowing if his answer of saying no would offend the girl in any way. Meaning such things as if he'd never date a girl like that or if he never found her attractive. He just didn't want to hit that mark. So he prayed for Kyuri to do so, because at the moment. He was out of things to say as his mind was pratically blank, and he wasn't just about to turn in her direction. But in his unique sight. He was totally staring at her. Waiting for her to break the now awkward tension that was now built up.
  76.
  77. No. I am not anybody's girlfriend, random guy.
  78.
  79. A heavy sigh escaped his lips as she finally responded to the guy's statement. In which he was quite relieved.
  80.
  81. " Uhm. . . I'm not really in the fighting mood Zack. I don't really see the point of fighting this late in the night. After all, I'm kind of exhausted. . . Trying to figure out a way too. . . " the boy spoke, and then fell short of words as a light bulb went off in his head.
  82.
  83. "KYURI!" he exclaimed.
  84.
  85. "Do you think that it's possible to seal someone's access to their mana circuits? Do you think that could be a thing? " He exclaimed desperately. It wasn't heavy in his tone, but he meant it.
  86.
  87. If anyone could find out a way to do this. It had to be Kyuri. After all, she basically written down everything in her little book scrapy thing.
  88.
  89. "Please tell me you know a way. If anyone has a clue about this, it has to be you!" he continued
  90. (Deo Hajara)
  91. Zack sighed, with such important things coming up it would be nice to make sure he was sharp and was good for what was coming next. There was going to be no more dangerous place to be right? It's a shame that when he was looking for a fight none would come to him.
  92.
  93. He simply shrugged at the denial between the two nonchalantly. Though he did note Deo's confusion, he probably just didn't have much experiance with it obviously. Oh well.
  94.
  95. It seemed like the girl was going to leave, but then Deo shouted after her, and then asked a completly ridiculous question. Zack's voice lost it's nonchalant tone of speaking. "Deo... Why would you want to know something like that?" He would ask. Why would someone search out a way to seal people's mana circuits? Most magi live their whole lives with magic, it's a wondrous thing, and it was so high up above living in the world of a normal human.. And Deo wanted wanted to take that from someone?
  96. (Zack Eden)
  97. ... An, unusual, sudden question asked, there. Something that actually has her turn on a heel, lax the grip in her hand, and face the younger man, or older boy, whatever, again. She shows her first signs of being anything but a robot by quirking her lips, glancing her eyes off towards nothing in particular, and then looking back. Despite Zack's seeming disdain, it's an interesting enough subject to get her talking.
  98.
  99. And talk. Kyuri. Does.
  100.
  101. "...Hmm. Mana circuits are an incredibly intircate thing, but under the right circumstances, they can be severely damaged by somebody of an incredibly high magical capacity, or when put under incredible duress by the user, as historical records do occasionaly suggest in the details of battles between magi that are more properly documented. To completely seal away somebody's capability to use their naturally porduced mana, though. Theoretically quite possible considering the nature of all things involved and the raw amount of magics in the world, but no doubt incredibly hard to use, if not for or even despite some sort of perverse, twisted sort of manipulative magics that wouldn't be common knowledge that was designed to or conveniently functions as an active buffer for a want to do as much. All speculative, of course. But magical experimentation has been around for a long time, and I wouldn't imagine something like that doesn't exist by this point. Would be a fitting, damning punishment for a prisoner of war, or a fallen king, or a legendary villain.
  102.
  103. So yes. It's probably a thing. But if you wanted to ask me where you would want to start chasing down information on something like that, all I would think to suggest is the darker reaches of magical practice in general. I wouldn't have much more of a direction for you than that."
  104.
  105. She talks a lot, and she talks fast, an arguable liveliness as she explains herself casually as could be. She ends up leaning on her sword, the tip pressed slightly into the earth, and her elbow atop the flat of the handle's end.
  106. (Kyuri)
  107. It seemed that Zack's voice was the one of his conscious. The angel on his shoulder.
  108.
  109. Why would he want to know something like that? A good question. All this time that he's been planning to find a way to do something. Change something. Deo's only way to do it without killing someone, without locking them in a cage or strapping a collar around their neck for the rest of their life was this. To destroy their connection with their mana circuits.
  110.
  111. But the way how Zack phrased it. Made Deo's heart stop. It gave him utter chills as he froze in place. His excitement was rather destroyed and cut in half throughly as if it was non-existant in the first place.
  112.
  113. But Deo had to go with it. It was the only way to do it.
  114.
  115. Tilting his head downward so his hat could cover his face. Deo stood up and faced away from Zack. But with his 'unique' eyesight. he was staring after Zack the entire time. Trying to find his voice to reply to his question.
  116.
  117. It was hard. Mostly because hearing it from someone who he considered to be his friend in such a caring voice bothered him immeansly. But he had to let Zack know. He had already made up his mind. So he was going to go through with it.
  118.
  119. "Look . . Zack. . I've thought of many ways on how to go about this. . . I spent about a year thinking on this. Dwelling on this. . . , and the only thing that I could come up with is this. I'm sick of the killing, the maiming. The Brutality. . . . . Locking people up in cages. Ripping them limb from limb, cutting out their tounge, having people as pets. The list goes on and on and on. . . . " Deo said, finally replying.
  120.
  121. Gulp
  122.
  123. "A magi lives their entire life with magic, living without it . . . is almost . . unthinkable. . . I . . It has to come down to this. That's the only way. . . . To take away the very gift that only two percent of the population of this country holds. . . their access to mana. . I plan to rid the suffering, the chaos . The torture, and those who fall won't die. . They will live the rest of their lives without the usage of magic. They won't be much trouble then. If anything none at all. Without their magic. . they will be just ordinary people. Humaniods. . creatures. . . This is the only way that. . . that I can think of . . to stop them. . ."
  124.
  125. Deo finally raised his head as a tear ran down from one of his eyes. Quickly he turned to wipe it away as he sniffled.
  126.
  127. "I already put my mind to it, Kyuri is my way of finding it. So I plan to go through with it and complete my goal." he said as he put up a weak smile. Attempting to look strong even though he felt like that one question Zack had said broke him down completely.
  128.
  129. Swallowing his pride. Deo fixed his smile and looked in the direction of Kyuri. " So?" he joked.
  130.
  131. So did Kyuri speak. Actually going into detail and talking fast enough to confuse him. More than fifty times over. Deo got the gist of ti. It was just that some words kind of threw him off balance. But the one thing that came as clear as day was when Kyuri said that it is probably a thing.
  132.
  133. And probably was good enough for him.
  134.
  135. "Do you think that you can help me chase down this information? Get to the darker reaches of magical pratice? We can do this together right? My power, your brains?" he said as his voice started to come back to him. At this moment, Kyuri gave him hope. So he would need that
  136.
  137.
  138. (Deo Hajara)
  139. Zack listened alright. He was mostly suprised by how quickly the girl could list off such facts- despite the fact there were some words that e still didn't understand despite being so old, no growing up with an education still hurt when more intellectual questions came up it seemed. Though it didn't change his current demeanor, it was cold and serious.
  140.
  141. He did acknowledge the amount of time and emotion Deo put into his ideals.. But it was all so wrong. When they were both done was when he finally spoke.
  142.
  143. "Deo... Magic does not do all those things, people do. Magic makes them strong yes, but what if noone in the world had magic? Then eventually people would come to such darkness anyway, it is simply how humans work. In this world, magic is only a means of doing this, it isn't needed to do things." Zack sighed, his hand went up and patted hit hat against his head as he looked down at the ground, "Do you think they will just stand there and let you take their magic away? What stops them from one day getting the ability to take magic themselves? A line needs to be drawn somewhere on how we change the world. And no matter what, to change the world you're gonna have to stand on a mountain of bodies." Zack turned from the two, making himself look like he was going to leave, but he stopped with one more thing to say.
  144.
  145. "Oh.. And going into the darker reaches of magic?" A horrible feeling crept into the air, Zack usually kept this hidden, locked away behind his holy magic and his own willpower, but right now he let it out.
  146.
  147. depravity.
  148.
  149. It wasn't a horrendous amount. In fact it was rather small, but with Zack's strength it was enough to send a message, "You might open a door you can't close."
  150. (Zack Eden)
  151. An eye to the man again, this time. Deo's question has ot wait, because that's quite the hefty one. What she can deal in, is facts.
  152.
  153. "Doors are just as meant for sealing away as they are for opening. That purpose is objective to the person looking at it, for the hand that reaches or the one that stays. Darkness is an objective thing in these lands. There is no lower threshold as long as you don't cross the powers that lurk the land."
  154.
  155. Her eyes comes back to Deo. This young man, who's asked something quite substantial of her. And it is an interesting concept, a direction she would enjoy taking, if not just to sate the curiosity of it.
  156.
  157. "All those raised before are fair points, though. And, even without a deeper perceptive look into things, I can tell you that taking the magics from a magi is a mutilation in and of itself, as bad as the bloodiest violence. If you're of significant magical prowess, magics are a part of you as much as every experience you've ever had because of those magics, ingrained into the fiber of your flesh. Silencing that irreversibly is a death in and of itself, just a death that waits for the physical body to follow. Who do you want to punish so badly, Deo? Specifically? Because a lack of magics won't stop war, won't stop violence, won't stop undeserved death. Even if you could steal that itself, which is impressed into the very existence of this realm in magic, what would it really accomplish?"
  158.
  159. An inquisitive quirk of the brow, and she crosses her arms over her chest. There was no way to end the cycle of violence and death. A young girl she might be, but she'd thought on this before, many times before, once thought how she could possibly make herself rise up.
  160.
  161. But goodness will continue to fight. Sadistic nature will continue to thrive deep inside of hearts, and as it has now, will weed itself into consuming those of signifigance. All any one person could hope to do would be to shape the world a bit with their presence, live their life and leave a legacy if that so pleases them. There was little more to ask, in the end.
  162. (Kyuri)
  163. It would seem that Zack would try to be Deo's voice of reason.
  164.
  165. Tilting his head once more towards Zack's position, Deo would give the man his full on concentration. But nothing that the man would do. Would change Deo's mind. He was going to find out the source and achieve this power to do what he planned. It was the only way without murder. The only way to do it without taking anothers life.
  166.
  167. But the statement that Zack had made was quite convincing as he brought up points as how human beings are, that the world would be the same even without magic. But in Deo's case. He knew that it would make a difference. It wasn't like he was going to seal off everyone's magic. Only those who abuse it for evil. Those who are given many chances and throw it away as if it were nothing but garbage.
  168.
  169. He was going to change the world.
  170.
  171. Staying silent, the blind teen took in all from Zack so he'd have some basis on how to respond and not just cut his friend off in a rude manner. But as soon as he was finish, Deo replied.
  172.
  173. "But that's not how I want to do it. People have done it that way. Many times. I personally don't want to take someone else's life. A life that is so vauable. People can learn to do right, they can change. It's possible. I've felt it. I've Seen it. It will just take time. . . . I don't want to be standing on a mountain of bodies. I don't want to have people sulking behind bars of confinement until they die. I don't want collars around peoples neck. No more. . . . This will bring a change. It will finally break the loop. You know how history repeats. This will change that, and I feel that we can build up from it. It's not like I'm going to take away everyone's power. Only those who proceed to abuse it. Those who ruin others lives. . . . Tell me Zack. If you had the chance to obtain a power to make a difference. To change the world. But didn't do what you had to do because you were afraid. . . How would you feel. Knowing you could've saved so many but didn't do it because of 'What If's'. I'm going to do this. . and there's no changing my mind"
  174.
  175. It was then that Zack would turn to leave but stopped to let out say one more line before releasing out that sinister feeling that he'd had felt plenty times before when dealing with occultist or yokai. Just like the fire giant that Shinra had killed long ago. But Deo shook it off. Knowing that he'd do whatever it would take to do this.
  176.
  177. Then it was time to Kyuri to put in her two cents. Which Deo actually respected as it seemed that the two were supporting him with criticism. The supportive kind of course.
  178.
  179. But as it came down to it. Both Kyuri and Zack had a point. What would it accomplish in the end. Taking someone's magic away is basically just like him killing them.
  180.
  181. Which was something he really didn't have an answer for himself.
  182.
  183. "Balance. . . " Deo said. It was the only answer that he could think of. It wasn't grand, and it wasn't great. But balance it would surely gain.
  184.
  185. "Balanace between all. . . . ."
  186.
  187. (Deo Hajara)
  188. Zack scoffed a bit, his depraved aura going away, disappated into nothingness, being locked away to not be touched again. "Well I guess you could see it that way." He would say, his nonchalant tone coming back to him in response to the girl, giving a shrug.
  189.
  190. Zack shook his head at Deo's words in the end. They were all wishful thinking when he couldn't think of any other options. "Deo, if youre gonna give a half-assed answer like that it isn't worth pursuing, 'balance'? That's exactly why you shouldn't mess with that kind of stuff, eventually it would simply fall in the hands of the evil as well. It won't break any loop, only add a new element to it." He sighed, Deo's reasoning was completly naive to him.
  191.
  192. "If I managed to miss my chance at changing the world then the world will simply move on, whether I want to or not, that's simply the truth." He would say simply and confidently, he knew how cruelly the world will move on without you, it broke him already afterall..
  193. (Zack Eden)
  194. Balance. A simple concept, something lost to the world right now, but something that has always precariously just barely existed in some part, an objective perception and an unobjective truth. Because balance's existence tied in with the world's existence. Things bent on preseverence, and those on destruction. Advancement, and regression. Good, and evil. The list is endless.
  195.
  196. And the list of players among just as much.
  197.
  198. Balance is an... admirable thing to pursue, but. All of this, the depth and the perfection to chase is all pointless. To speak fo life and it's facets, and to live it are two different things. She can be wise beyond her years, but it proviudes her little but some decent counsel. Maybe one day she'll be a worthless old seer, huh? Lacked of strength, good only for her word.
  199.
  200. "It's all objective, then. All depends on circumstance, a person's wants and desires, their personal drive. Their passion, their dedication to their mindset. You call that life. This is what you wanna dedicate your life to, Deo? Beyond a shadow of a doubt? More than fame, than the thrill of a fight, than love and happiness, than peace? Because you can't have it all."
  201.
  202. She can only speak so plainly because she, herself, has no purpose. Kyuri exists, simply as the person she is now, driven forward by the fact that she instinctively keeps herself alive. Perhaps that's the saddest existence of all, or maybe she's just a lazy fuck who hasn't made up her mind, yet.
  203. (Kyuri)
  204. At this point, he'd feel as if he was just going back and forth with Zack and not even going anywhere. Aswell as the blind teen feeling as if's been repeating stuff just to gain the favor of Zack, so it'd been enough. Deo gave his final response and it seemed that he wasnt really happy with that. But Deo didn't care. As he was already focused of how it was going to happen.
  205.
  206. "Yes Kyuri, This is something that I want to dedicate my life too." he responded to Kyuri in a rather calm tone as she forcefully helps herside win her collision.
  207.
  208. "We won't lose. . . ."
  209. (Deo Hajara)
