Rissada - Session 41.3

After the party leaves the mine, Na'nabi lounges against the wall, alone save for whatever little company Dahlia's familiar provides.

Cat Sith: "Who would have figured guard duty would be so meowndnumbingly boring?"
Na'nabi: "Most people find guard duty dull."
Cat Sith: "Why'd you even volunteer?"
Na'nabi: "I like it, gives me some alonetime."
Cat Sith: "I figured if you were up for it, it would probably be exciting."
Na'nabi: "I can try and draw some of the crystals here, relax, think about things."
Cat Sith walks over to a yellow crystal, absentmindedly flicking it with a claw.
Na'nabi: "And I have a chance to see whatever that shadow is."
Cat Sith: "Uh-huh. Whatever you say."
Na'nabi: "No one's forcing you to stay here, y'know. You could just go back to your mistress and leave me here."
Cat Sith climbs up onto the crystals embedded in the wall, looking for a high spot to perch from.
Cat Sith: "I'm the early defense warning."
Na'nabi: "Whatever you want to call yourself."
Cat Sith: "Well, you could be dragged off by some horrible thing, and if I weren't here, nobody would know."
Na'nabi: "I can handle myself in combat better than any of them."
Cat Sith: "Hells, they probably wouldn't care. You're probably more useful for your swords than for your purrsonality."
Na'nabi puts her head back down to drawing, trying to ignore the stupid cat. [Artistry (Drawing) check: 26]
Cat Sith: "...Right. What a magical dreamland your mind must be, where ordinary chunks of rock are more interesting than a walking, talking, genius-level intelligence cat."
Cat Sith wanders off, eventually climbing out of sight.
Na'nabi smiles as she draws the crystal structures, happy with her work.
While pausing to appreciate the final result, however, Na'nabi thinks she might have seen something move in the black distance.
Na'nabi gets up, stowing away her notebook.
Na'nabi: "Hey Cat, I see something that might be that shadow on this side."
Cat Sith doesn't respond, and Na'nabi thinks she hears the cat singing a taunting tune in the distance.
Na'nabi: "Useless furball..."
As Na'nabi approaches, she thinks she sees what looks like one of the crystalline sprites from before, with a strange black glow about it, heading towards an unlit crystal.
Na'nabi: "This one looks black... so..."
Na'nabi takes out her two negatively charged swords.
The sprite enters the green crystal formation, and before long the crystals take a sickly dark glow.
Shortly after, the sprite emerges from the crystal, still evidently oblivious to Na'nabi's presence.
Na'nabi moves over to the sprite, poking it with her swords. [Damage: 2]
Na'nabi: [Sylvan] "That do anything for you?"
The sprite looks curiously at the blade poking it, then to Na'nabi.
Na'nabi: [Sylvan] "Do you want negative energy? I have that."
The sprite looks at Na'nabi more curiously, then at the shortswords. Abruptly, it tackles Na'nabi's hand, trying to take one of the swords away from her.

The sword is knocked out of her hand, falling onto the ground, the sprite eagerly drifting towards it.
Na'nabi: "No, mine!"
Na'nabi picks up her own sword, not allowing the sprite to dare take her weapon.
The sprite, stubbornly focused on the sword, bashes into Na'nabi as she attempts to claim the sword.

Attack: 21, Damage: 2 + 9 Negative]
Na'nabi: "Ow, ow..."
Na'nabi tries at poking the creature with her sword again.

Attack: 14, Damage: 4]
The sprite grabs onto the blade as Na'nabi puts its edge against the creature.
Na'nabi pokes the other blade at the sprite too, in an attempt to pacify it with its own energy.

Attack: 30, Damage: 6]
The sprite is touched by the second blade, and begins to give off a greater ominous black glow.
It grips onto the blades, its form beginning to glow more strongly as the blades' glows start to wane.
Na'nabi: "This seems bad."
Na'nabi attempts to pull her blades free.

Na 'nabi wrests her blades from the grip of the sprite, but, deprived of the energy, it attacks her again in retribution.
[Onyx Sprite : Slam
Attack: 15, Damage: 4 + 9 Negative]
Na'nabi steps away and out of the range of the sprite, sheathing one of her swords and drawing her less negative sword.
Na'nabi: "Guess I'll have to do this the normal way!"

Onyx Sprite - Initiative: 15.04]

Na'nabi steps forwards, attacking the sprite with her negative and her non-negative swords

Attack: 20, Damage: 10 + 6 Negative
Attack: 23, Damage: 8]
The blades connect with the sprite, dealing it only minorly more damage than they heal. It attacks Na'nabi back, seeking to claim the swords by force.

[Onyx Sprite : Slam
Attack: 14, Damage: 2 + 5 Negative]
Its attack is easily forecasted, however, and Na'nabi has no problem dodging it.

Na'nabi attacks once more, swinging both swords

Attack: 32, Crit Confirm: 18
Damage: 6 + 1 Fire, Crit Damage +2
Attack: 21, Damage: 10 + 2 Negative]
The might of a flaming blade strikes against the sprite, cracks forming in its crystalline shell. Undeterred, it continues to attack.

[Onyx Sprite : Slam
Attack: 12, Damage: 3 + 8 Negative]
It is, however, far too slow for a fighter as nimble as Na'nabi to be hit by.

Na'nabi once again attacks the sprite, her swords wreathed in shadow and fire, her entire body taking on a darker tone. [Bloodsurge]

Attack: 16, Damage: 6 + 1 Fire
Attack: 22, Damage: 8 + 3 Negative]
The swords continue their assault against the sprite, its form deteriorating and a strange glow shining from inside its body as it tackles Na'nabi again.

[Onyx Sprite : Slam
Attack: 24, Damage: 2 + 4 Negative]
Na'nabi grunts as she takes a little damage from its strike, attacking in return.

Attack: 21, Damage: 10 + 4 Negative
Attack: 32, Crit Confirm: 16
Damage: 6 + 4 Fire, Crit Damage +4
With the final movement of her blades, the sprite collapses, its form still intact but unable to continue fighting.
Na'nabi: "Phew..."
It begins to emit sounds that seem almost like it being tortured, as the glow from inside it strengthens and portions of its crystalline body move unstably.
Na'nabi steps back and cautiously observes, not doing anything yet, but staying on guard. [Total Defense]
The sprite shrieks as its body explodes, a black creature bursting out of its chest.
Na'nabi: "Oh Jeez, what now?"
The black, serpentine creature lunges towards Na'nabi's chest.
[Na'nabi : Reflex Save: 12]
Caught off-guard, Na'nabi is caught by the serpent, as it lunges at her, and appears to fade inside of her body, leaving no obvious wound.
Na'nabi: "Nngh....what...?!"
"i...should feel weird, or at least.....what?"
Na'nabi walks uneasily back to the entrance.
Cat Sith: "Oh, look who finally returned to her post. For claiming to be so much better than me, you do a pretty lousy job of proving it."
Na'nabi: "I... just fought another sprite."
Cat Sith: "Oh, I better go tell the others to prepare the celebratory banquet."
Cat Sith yawns and stretches, lying down on her back against a crystal spike several feet off the ground.
Na'nabi: "This one was a lot worse."
Cat Sith: "Of course, because my mistress wasn't here to bail your elven tail out of it."
Na'nabi: "It was attuned to negative energy, I think, and I beat it up after it tried to nick my sword."
"...and then it exploded and some sort of weird... shadow snake came out of it."
"And then it... entered me."
Cat Sith: "Mmhmm. Got it. Good for you. You go, girl."
Cat Sith doesn't appear to be paying attention.
Na'nabi: "Glad to know I always have you for support, stupid furball."
"Anyway, some sort of abomination is inside of me now, and I should probably try and talk to Arastalia or Engir about this.."
"(Eugh, I feel weird...)"
Worried about the events in the mines, Na'nabi walks wearily back towards the inn the group is staying at, leaving the cat alone in the mines.
