- Welcome to my general and specific
- guide to High Brunhilda's Trial.
- This will cover the sequence of
- the fight and general tips
- and notes regarding them.
- I have only played Lily in this fight
- so take any comments I make
- regarding other characters
- with a grain of salt.
- There is a lot of text in this
- video so be prepared to
- pause frequently.
- This will cover a basic overview at
- the start that will serve as a
- baseline for understanding how the
- fight should progress.
- Then we will cover more advanced
- topics towards the end, especially
- regarding play with Lily specifically.
- I have many strong opinions and
- the guidelines I set forth may
- be subject to change as the meta
- develops, so be mindful that this
- may not reflect the current
- state of the game.
- I will not cover the HP thresholds
- to enter the fight proper, but
- a cursory search should serve you
- just well enough.
- There will be helpful links in the
- description, including the fight
- timeline.
- I think of this fight
- as separated into 3 main phases.
- The start of the fight.
- Grand Muspelheim.
- X-Muspelheim.
- With a very good team, you can
- bypass seeing X-Muspelheim.
- There are two very different
- roles. The healer and the DPS.
- I will not go over the healer
- in detail, as I am not
- qualified to speak at length
- about their job and thresholds.
- The DPS have the job of...
- Well, doing damage.
- Uptime is key. You must pull
- your weight if you intend
- to clear this fight.
- It must be noted that this
- is not a forgiving fight.
- Depending on the types of
- mistakes made and the
- quality of your healer,
- your team is collectively
- afforded maybe one or two
- mistakes per phase.
- Any more than that and you
- will generally not pass
- the HP checks.
- Your choice in characters
- generally consist of:
- Thaniel
- Orsem
- Xainfried
- Lily
- Other characters can and
- have cleared, but
- know that it is because the
- people involved know the fight
- very well in order to fit clear.
- The burn HURTS.
- The minimum expected
- requirements are a MUB dragon
- for everybody,
- alongside either a 5* 0UB
- elemental weapon or a
- 4* MUB elemental weapon
- depending on which characters
- you are playing.
- The usual suspects are:
- Thaniel, Poseidon, 4* MUB
- Lily, Leviathan, 4* MUB
- Lily, Poseidon, 5* 0UB
- Xainfried, Leviathan, 5* 0UB
- Orsem, Leviathan, 5* 0UB
- (Note: Leviathan is interchangable
- with Dragonyule Jeanne.)
- Alongside those are the budget
- picks, whom are harder to run
- with but it is possible. Do not
- expect people to WANT to run with
- you if you use these, however.
- Your budget picks are:
- Thaniel, Poliahu, 5* 0UB
- (Requires high dojos.)
- Xainfried, Vodyanoy, 5* 0UB
- Orsem, Vodyanoy, 5* 0UB
- Lily, Vodyanoy, 4* MUB
- (Please do not do this.)
- This listing is by no means
- exhaustive and other
- combinations can and have been
- tried to varying degrees of effect.
- The list of easily viable adventurers
- is subject to change as Dragalia
- receives more 100% burn
- resistant adventurers, so please
- keep that in mind.
- As a general rule, you would like
- your altars to be all level 30/30/30
- and your dojos to be at least
- levels 16/16.
- As a DPS, your strength value should
- be north of 2.4k if you are not using
- a budget build and at least north of
- 2.1k if you are using a budget build.
- Your strength value may be lower
- than 2.4k if you are using
- Dragonyule Jeanne instead of
- Leviathan.
- Ranged users will have slightly
- lower strength, but compensate
- with higher uptime.
- PLEASE do not look at might values
- and think that it means anything
- about the viability of a particular
- person’s character. What matters
- is that they pass the HP check
- and that their STR value is high
- enough to carry their own weight.
- Now, let us begin proper.
- The text that will appear on
- the top is the general phase
- that is displayed in the video.
- The text on the bottom will be
- the current attack in the video.
- Up first is Scorching Blast.
- It’s ye olde HP check.
- If you can’t pass this,
- you are not ready.
- Lily with Leviathan and the 4* MUB
- wand has to use her S3 in order to
- survive this blast. Everyone else
- does not have anything special to
- worry about.
- Melees can avoid being knocked
- back by performing and HOLDING a
- force strike. Notice our Xainfried
- that did not get knocked back
- versus the one that did.
- Immediately following that, she will
- do a backpedal. This does no
- damage, but will knock people
- back if they are too close when
- she performs this.
- A breath will follow this
- unless she is in a Hellfire phase.
- The Hellfire phase will be
- discussed later.
- The breath targets the closest person
- to Brunhilda and thus can be baited
- by someone. This job usually falls
- to Orsem to perform.
- The breath can be dodged using
- skills, so keeping a skill ready
- for this will improve your
- survivability significantly.
- The breath timings MUST be
- memorized if you intend to clear
- consistently.
- There is an indicator “!!” above
- her head, but by then she has
- already acquired her target.
- You can tell how she will aim because
- she will face who she targeted.
- The breath starts from Brunhilda’s
- left and she will slowly swing it
- to the right. This is VERY slow.
- If you are close, you can roll past
- her to get behind her to dodge
- the breath.
- Here, you can see me do that.
- And here you will observe me dodge
- rolling away from the breath as
- I had no skills prepared for it.
- At the range I was at, two rolls
- would have sufficed, but I did
- three at that time.
- Also in this clip is an instance of
- what I will call “desync”, short
- for desynchronization.
- Note that she seems to slide to the
- side without moving. Get used
- to this and learn to love it. Only
- the host doesn’t see this.
- ...usually.
- Next up is what I will call the
- “charge”. She will dash towards
- the closest person to her and
- this time will actually deal some
- amount of damage.
- It is small, but enough to kill
- at the start of the fight if the
- first heal has yet to go out.
- This is always followed by
- the “swipe”.
- This hits very close to her and
- in a cone in front of her. This
- does a moderate amount of
- damage but you generally should
- not be hit by this. This is always followed by
- the “swipe”.
- This hits very close to her and
- in a cone in front of her. This
- does a moderate amount of
- damage but you generally should
- not be hit by this.
- Now comes the problem mechanic.
- This is the divebomb, or
- “Crimson Inferno”, however you’d
- like to call it.
- This targets the FURTHEST person
- from her on your screen.
- And I do mean YOUR screen. She
- will desync back to her proper
- location as the host sees her
- afterwards, but the spot she hits
- on YOUR screen is YOUR danger
- zone.
- She acquires her target at a specific
- time. Learn to feel for it, as it is
- slightly earlier than her “!!” and
- skill popup indicator. LOOK at who
- the furthest person is on your screen.
- You will know where your personal
- danger zone will be if you do.
- Colloquially, the Thaniel will take this
- bait. Remember the timings. They
- are very important.
- Additionally, it isn’t seen here
- because it happened off-screen
- but the dive can and will be blocked
- by the volcano rocks.
- If you see her diving into where a
- rock will be, she will stop short of the
- rock and the danger zone will be
- there instead.
- This leads into “Volcanic Blitz”,
- or the Hellfire phase.
- In here, all four people will be
- targeted with purple markers
- sequentially.
- Everyone gets their own
- personal rock.
- The order is random.
- Drop these rocks near her and try to
- trap her on the outskirts of the
- stage. How well you do with
- rock placement will determine the
- amount of uptime you get later
- when doing the Hellfire mechanic.
- The way these rocks interact with
- Hellfire is that she will blast the whole
- map with an AOE. This cannot be
- dodged using skills. You have to break
- line of sight with her by hiding behind
- or inside of a rock.
- You can survive getting hit with
- a Hellfire, but your healer must
- have a skill ready to top you off or
- you will wipe.
- If you are about to have a rock drop
- on you and she is about to do
- Hellfire, it is safe everywhere for you.
- You can stand still and be safe.
- There is one VERY important
- exception to this that will be
- mentioned later on.
- These rocks can and will shove
- Brunhilda around. Be careful about
- this, as it can make your breath
- baiter’s life a living hell. If you drop
- a rock in a bad spot it may be
- impossible for your baiter
- to properly pull the breath away.
- She will interleave each of these
- Hellfire casts with either: A charge
- or a backpedal. In the first set, it is
- always a charge into a charge into
- a backpedal.
- In the second set it is always a
- backpedal into a charge into a charge.
- There will be four rock drops, one for
- each person. If you have ANY dead
- person, you will be missing rocks and
- will eat undodgable Hellfires.
- This will wipe you.
- These rocks will disappear in the order
- in which they dropped. One after
- each Hellfire.
- As a general rule, if there are still
- rocks on the map, there is still
- another Hellfire coming. Do not
- count the rocks. You will lose track.
- I know because I have.
- Next up is your spread marker, or
- “Chaser”. Stand away from your
- teammates.
- Colloquially, the Orsem will stay on
- top of the boss and Xainfried will get
- a few hits in before force striking
- away to a safe spot.
- Now it’s the stack marker.
- This will target the closest
- person to Brunhilda.
- Everyone get in.
- Try to hug the boss as Orsem will
- usually take the stack marker and his
- movement might make the marker go
- into unusual locations. Being close
- helps make sure that you are in the
- stack.
- The spread marker into stack marker
- is ALWAYS followed by a backpedal
- into breath. If you are not baiting,
- either skill or roll away to avoid
- being knocked away. If you are
- baiting, make sure you can get in
- position in time to bait the breath.
- Now it’s time for meteors. Brunhilda
- will turn to the closest person to her
- and then launch a bunch of small
- purple markers at them. The breath
- baiter usually takes these.
- Do not run too far if you’re baiting
- these as a dive is about to come out.
- The dive baiter will take this dive
- as usual.
- The meteors are ALWAYS followed
- by a dive. Be ready for it.
- A melee took the dive on accident
- in this clip.
- If you’ve gotten this far, welcome
- to the end of the first phase.
- She will cast Grand Muspelheim and
- fly high up.
- Vertically-oriented skills
- will be able to hit her here, like
- the wand’s force strike or
- Frozen Gale as long as you are
- fast enough.
- She will divide the arena in half,
- left and right. People usually
- go to the right side. Everyone must
- be on the same side because a
- stack is about to come out.
- Generally, stand behind where the two
- bone spines meet. That will be safe.
- Spears can hit her from outside the
- lava but be careful not to do too
- many hits in a row.
- Your weapon will move
- you forward with certain strikes.
- Now for the spread marker. Three
- dodge rolls or so will be enough to
- not overlap with someone else.
- Colloquially, the healer will stay
- put to get uptime and everyone
- else moves. Orsem stays on top
- of the boss as usual.
- Now to discuss the break. There are
- actually two patterns with the break.
- There is an upcoming double-breath
- in the fight.
- If you break past that, you will
- completely skip the second Hellfire
- phase.
- If you break before the
- double-breath, then immediately
- use any skills that execute quickly
- and do a lot of damage and
- then dragon and use your dragon’s
- skill. This is VERY important, as this
- comprises a significant portion of her
- health bar.
- Observe her health bar.
- Be careful about where in the fight
- you break her because she will
- continue the fight from where you left
- off when you broke her.
- Xainfrieds should save their S2 for
- this particular moment to make
- the impact of the break that
- much stronger.
- Continuing back from
- Grand Muspelheim to show what
- happens if you break
- at second breath.
- Usually, you would like to break
- before the second breath, as
- you can use your dragon skills
- during the break multiplier
- and that is a significant amount
- of damage.
- The pattern is also easier, as you
- actually see the second Hellfire
- phase.
- I show this current pattern up to
- the double breath unbroken so
- you can internalize how the order
- of attacks goes.
- First up is a charge.
- Reminder that this targets closest
- and is followed by a swipe.
- Now meteors. Remember that
- meteors are ALWAYS followed by
- a dive. Closest, usually Orsem,
- takes meteors. Furthest, usually
- Thaniel, takes the dive.
- You’ve seen this already, right before
- Grand Muspelheim.
- Now it’s a breath, backpedal, breath.
- If you break after the second breath
- you get a special pattern for being
- too slow. This is because you
- skip the second Hellfire phase if you
- break too close to or during it.
- Now to demonstrate a late break.
- If you break on the second breath,
- hold onto your dragon skill. You will
- need it to iframe the spread marker.
- If you are not Xainfried, wait about
- 3 seconds before shapeshifting.
- You will need that time in order
- to properly iframe the spread marker.
- Here is the spread marker. Use your
- skill before it explodes and
- make sure it explodes
- DURING YOUR SKILL ANIMATION.
- This is important.
- Otherwise you will lose dragon on the
- first spread marker and then eat
- the others to your health bar.
- Remember that saving your dragon
- skill is only if you break late.
- If you take health damage to the
- spread marker, you will wipe to
- the following stack marker.
- Another backpedal into breath.
- This always follows a spread
- marker into stack marker.
- And now the third phase transition,
- X-Muspelheim.
- What happens here is she will first
- divide the map into North/South
- via a line that goes East/West.
- And then she will divide the map into
- East/West via a line that goes
- North/South. Unlike the previous
- one, you want everyone to have
- their own personal corner because
- you’re getting spread markers
- then a stack marker.
- If you haven’t discussed beforehand
- which corner to take, just wing it.
- Ranged units can still hit her from
- their respective corners after she
- lands. I suggest taking any corner
- that is not South if you are ranged.
- I find South to be the hardest to
- get close enough without dying.
- If you need to, turn yourself using
- a force strike so you are facing her.
- If the healer has kept enough
- uptime leading up to this
- and not too many mistakes
- have been made, you should pass
- this easily.
- Now stay AWAY from Brunhilda if
- you are not a healer. What is usually
- done at this point is that Thaniel will
- take the stack marker alone and
- either use dragon to tank or drop it
- or just eat it and die.
- Thaniel can actually drop the stack
- marker elsewhere by shapeshifting.
- The game loses track of where the
- target went and will just leave the
- stack where Thaniel shapeshifted.
- You can use this to achieve higher
- dragon uptime.
- Be careful if Thaniel does that,
- however, since the stack marker will
- not actually damage where it
- says it will. If your Thaniel does
- this, just hope he did it correctly
- and didn’t accidentally drop it
- on the Brunhilda.
- Observe how the stack marker visual
- goes out but Thaniel is not hit by
- it. That is because the visual
- and the actual mechanic were
- in different places due to that
- glitch.
- Everything from this point onwards
- just repeats from the start of the
- first Hellfire phase, starting with
- the first rock drop.
- If you’ve gotten to this point, you
- have seen the whole fight.
- Something about the rocks is that
- they will interrupt skills if they hit
- you. Try not to drop them on top of
- teammates if you can help it.
- Don’t use a skill if it will be cancelled
- too early by a rock drop as well.
- Lily’s S1 especially.
- Let’s go back to the second Hellfire
- phase, since I showed what happens
- if you skip it.
- The order that she does the actions
- in between Hellfires is different.
- She does backpedal, charge, charge
- instead of charge, charge, backpedal.
- The third rock drop is special. Do NOT
- try to block the Hellfire with the rock.
- This rock and this rock only will
- drop too late to block the Hellfire.
- This is special to the second
- Hellfire phase. The first and third
- Hellfire phases do not have this.
- Notice how Thaniel stays behind an
- existing rock even though he has
- a rock dropping on him.
- It is very important to remember
- that this rock alone is not safe to
- freely place.
- Also, if you are a ranged unit and a
- rock drops on top of you, you can
- safely fire away from the safety
- of the rock. The only thing that will
- hit you is her swipe.
- Be mindful of which rock order you
- dropped in and be ready to
- move to safety when
- your rock breaks.
- This is the exact same spread
- marker you skip to if you break
- during or after the second of the
- double breaths. What happens
- from here on out is the same as
- if you broke late.
- Now for the worst topic. Desyncs.
- Watch Brunhilda’s location carefully.
- See that teleport? That’s desync.
- Learn to hate it.
- Learn to live with it.
- Where you see the rocks is not
- where the host sees the rocks.
- Now watch me get hit by Hellfire
- through two rocks.
- The hosts’ version of events
- is the correct version of events.
- She can and will desync after every
- charge, backpedal, and dive.
- Really, any time she moves quickly
- or is shoved by rocks she has a
- chance to desync depending on
- how good your connection
- to the host is.
- Generally, the desync will fix itself
- in about a second after it happens
- and you will witness Brunhilda either
- teleport or slide into a new position
- without moving herself.
- Wait until this happens before you
- use a skill if you aren’t familiar
- with desync timings.
- Is it your fault if you get hit through
- a desync? Yes and no.
- No in that you couldn’t have
- foreseen it and that it defies
- common sense.
- Yes in that you should understand
- it if you intend to consistently
- clear.
- The last general topic to cover is the
- concept of dive-cancelling.
- In a nutshell, if whenever Brunhilda
- attempts to cast Crimson Inferno,
- the dive, and the furthest person
- is across the entirety of the map...
- Then she will not actually dive and
- instead will take a swipe in the
- direction of the person furthest
- from her position.
- Observe Thaniel’s position on the
- minimap. Brunhilda is about
- to attempt a divebomb.
- See that swipe? That was supposed
- to be a divebomb. That is how the
- dive-cancel operates.
- I know some pugs do this, but I
- personally don’t like it because you
- lose DPS doing it. It requires
- someone to run to the other side
- of the map in order to cancel.
- I mention this because some pugs
- will do this. Watch for someone
- rolling to the other side of the map
- when a dive is about to occur. That
- means there will be no dive and
- she will instead SWIPE.
- Remember the swipe. You might
- die to it if you aren’t ready.
- Again, I do not condone using
- dive-cancelling. It makes runs
- inconsistent if not everybody is
- expecting it and you lose a
- significant amount of uptime
- from the person that performs the
- dive-cancel.
- But still, watch and expect this
- in pugs in case they perform this.
- It can and will kill your run if
- you die to the swipe.
- Now onto the Lily-specific guide.
- This is only for the 4* wand with
- Leviathan. I make no comment
- about using 5* Lily with
- Poseidon because I have not
- run enough 5* Lily to talk about
- it knowledgably.
- As such, all of the following timing
- tips are made specifically for
- 4* wand Lily, but the notes about
- skill usage should still apply to
- 5* wand Lilies.
- Open with 4 autos into your S3.
- Your S3’s animation lock should be
- cancelled by the initial blast.
- You want this.
- Follow up with 3 rolls forward which
- will put you in her face and use
- your S2 followed by your S1.
- FINISH all 3 rolls. Do not cancel
- your third roll early as you run a
- chance of being knocked back by
- her backpedal if you do.
- Use the final moment of the S1
- animation to zoom your camera
- out if you need to. It is basically
- one of the only times you can
- zoom your camera without
- inadverdently rolling.
- Perform 5 autos followed by a force
- strike and then roll to either side
- or backwards depending on how
- much you trust your baiter.
- Try to visually guess who is closest
- and therefore where she is
- going to charge.
- WAIT for her to stop moving from
- the charge and then follow with 5
- autos.
- Follow with a force strike or a
- single auto and then roll into her
- and then use your S1.
- Note: This S1 is VERY dangerous.
- Do NOT do it if you don’t have
- complete faith in your Thaniel baiting
- the divebombs.
- You WILL die if this dive is
- improperly baited.
- Then from there, there is no talk
- about a “rotation” as the fight will
- vary significantly depending on
- where your team baited her and
- how well your team baits the rocks
- for the purpose of uptime.
- I will instead give general rules for
- when I tend to use skills in
- lieu of a strict rotation.
- Notice this S2 is half-cancelled by
- the rock drop. Remember that
- skills can and will be cancelled
- by these. You can gain uptime
- by cancelling skills after they
- have done their damage but
- before the animation has completed.
- Watch the use of force strike here.
- The dive is too fast to follow with
- autos unless you are standing
- directly behind her, so you can
- get additional uptime by linking
- with a force strike where she
- is about to land.
- You want to keep your damaging
- skills on cooldown as much as
- possible so you can be generating
- skill charge as much as possible.
- Almost all your damage comes from
- skill usage.
- There are a few notable moments to
- delay your S1. They are:
- Hellfires. Make sure you are
- behind a rock and that she has
- stopped desyncing after her
- interleaved action
- (charge or backpedal)
- for you before you cast this.
- Spread marker. Only cast your
- S1 here if you are in position so
- that you no longer have to move and
- Brunhilda is under 25% completed
- on casting it. Otherwise your S1
- will be cancelled before your
- second hit comes out.
- REMEMBER that you must have your
- S3 up at the end of the spread
- marker if a stack marker follows!
- This means that unless a stack
- marker happened before the
- spread marker (Grand Muspelheim),
- you must leave enough time for you
- to shield after!
- Divebombs. Remember the times
- these come out. Your S1 will root
- you for 3 seconds or so. If you use
- this at a bad time, you WILL die.
- If you aren’t sure, wait with your
- S1 and use it to chase the dive.
- Breaths. If you don’t trust your breath
- baiter, save your S1 to dodge the
- breath in case it gets pointed at
- you. You CAN use your S2 or S3 if
- you have to, but your S2 will
- generally either be a waste or
- dangerous to use and your S3 will
- either not be up or will not be up
- for the next stack/spread marker.
- Grand Muspelheim. If she is about
- to perform Grand Muspelheim and
- your S1 is up BUT YOUR S2 IS
- EITHER UP OR ALMOST UP, try
- to get your S2 out first and don’t
- use your S1. This allows you
- to charge your S2 during
- Grand Muspelheim, as you
- are locked out of your S2 for a
- long time afterwards.
- Volcano rock drop. Just don’t let your
- S1 be cancelled. This goes for your
- S2 as well.
- Watch where your
- teammates are and watch
- who gets the rock drop to
- decide whether or not they will
- drop their rock on you.
- If Brunhilda is about to backpedal
- and you are worried that your S1
- will not hit if it doesn’t chase, don’t
- worry. Your S1 is large enough that
- even if you target her old position
- with it, it will still hit her new
- position after the backpedal unless
- your game desyncs.
- Next is your S2. Use this whenever
- it is off-cooldown with a few
- exceptions:
- Hellfires. Sometimes it is not safe
- for you to use your S2 depending on
- her distance to the rocks and how
- quickly you can get to her
- and then back out. Be aware that
- if you do it TOO early, you run the
- chance of being knocked down.
- Break. If Brunhilda is about to
- break, save your S2 for when the
- break happens. Bonus points if
- you time it so that it comes out
- after Xainfried’s buff comes out.
- Your skill will be worth so much
- more this way. Do NOT do this
- with your S1. It takes too long to
- cast and you’d rather be attacking
- her as a dragon instead.
- Your S2 is VERY important to
- keep off-cooldown and it is almost
- always safe to do because of
- how fast it comes out!
- As a note for spread markers into
- stack markers, if you use a skill after
- the stack marker make sure you are
- IN FRONT of her when you do so.
- If you skill from behind her, she will
- backpedal into you and you WILL
- steal the aggro on the subsequent
- breath.
- If you steal the breath and it
- hits Thaniel, it is your fault.
- As a wand, you do significantly less
- damage if you attack from
- point blank. The minimum range for
- maximum damage is about two
- character body-lengths away.
- About half the distance I am
- currently standing is your minimum
- distance.
- This minimum range is just a
- little further than the range of
- your S2. If you look at your own
- damage numbers, especially on your
- first auto, you will learn to feel
- what this minimum range
- actually is.
- However, your skill generation is the
- same regardless of your distance.
- Sometimes, you will suddenly be
- point blank with her when she runs
- into you. You do not immediately
- need to make some distance!
- If you are on your last 2 hits of your
- 5-hit auto combo and both your
- skills are not charged, finish
- the rest of your autos in the set
- if it is safe to do so.
- Your last 2 hits generate a LOT of
- skill charge!
- Additionally, if you need to generate
- skill charge FAST and you are not
- on the final hits of your autos, use
- your force strike!
- This is most important for getting
- your S2 off before Grand Muspelheim
- or getting your S3 up in time to tank
- a stack/spread marker.
- Regarding the usage of your
- force strikes:
- Use it to link autos if you need to
- turn fast. This will usually happen
- when she dives but will also happen
- when she charges and when she
- backpedals.
- Your character does not turn that
- quickly if Brunhilda suddenly changes
- her angle to you. The force strike
- will force your character to face
- her new location and will
- increase your uptime.
- For Grand Muspelheim and
- X-Muspelheim, you can use the
- force strike to prepare a hit on her
- before she lands because it does not
- require a target.
- You can also use force strikes to hit
- her if she is too far to hit safely.
- This will usually happen during the
- Hellfire phases if a final rock is
- badly placed.
- Now, about your autos:
- The is a lag after you do your set
- of 5 autos before you do your
- next set of autos.
- (this part is unverified)
- Link your next set of autos afterwards
- by using a force strike or rolling to
- cancel the ending lag introduced
- by the 5th auto.
- I do not know if this actually helps
- but I sure feel like it does.
- If someone actually knows this,
- please contact me.
- About rolls:
- Do not roll more than necessary.
- Any time you spend moving is time
- you spend not attacking!
- Now for general advice.
- Be out of the way.
- Your job as Lily has no mechanics.
- You are responsible for none of them.
- However, you are also responsible
- for not being in the way of other
- people doing mechanics.
- Avoid dropping rocks on people!
- Stand away and don’t steal meteor,
- breath, and dive baits.
- Make it easier for everyone else
- because that will make your own
- runs that much more consistent.
- Just because you are not doing
- mechanics does not you mean you
- can ignore them!
- You, more than anyone else are
- responsible for uptime.
- If you aren’t doing damage they
- have no reason to bring you.
- You are a damage bot.
- That is all you do.
- Above all, do not do what I
- did just here.
- Look at all those rolls just to get to
- the safespot because I chose
- a bad time to use S1!
- Now I’ll show an annotated full
- fight from my perspective.
- The discussed inital rotation.
- 4 autos into S3.
- 3 rolls into S2 and S1.
- FINISH your third roll.
- 5 autos into force strike.
- I knew this Orsem tends to pull down
- the middle so I roll myself in a way
- that makes sure I both do not get
- hit by the charge and do not need
- to move to not steal the dive bait.
- The swipe is a non-issue as long
- as you are not directly in front of her.
- It can and will kill you if it hits,
- however.
- Rolled into her and used S1 because
- I was slightly late on my rotation
- this time around and didn’t perform
- the second force strike or auto here.
- Notice how I had reacquired the
- angle to autoattack Brunhilda
- afterwards. That is the timing that
- you want.
- Stood here and kept doing
- autoattacks to charge my S2.
- Depending on how well-executed
- your opening was, you will generate
- an S2 to use before she outranges
- you with divebomb.
- S1 should be up around this time
- as well, but prioritize S2 over S1.
- The usual bait from the people that
- I play with goes off to the
- bottom-right. Please watch where
- Thaniel is so where the dive ends
- up going is not a surprise to you.
- I waited until I verified the breath
- was not going to be crossing over me
- before I used S1 just to be safe.
- Notice that someone dropped a rock
- in front of me so I took the
- opportunity to move myself close to
- Brunhilda. Half-cancelling a roll into
- a skill is the way you want to do
- this if it’s available to you.
- Even though I was safe inside the
- rock that I had initially dropped,
- it was both the first rock and far
- from her position. You want to be
- medium range from her in
- this phase so you aren’t forced
- to reposition if she suddenly
- outranges you.
- Notice how my S1 was ready but I
- waited for her to start casting
- Hellfire to cast my S1 because
- she is guaranteed not to desync
- move until Hellfire completes.
- In rare cases, she will still
- desync but I have not had
- that happen to me.
- In general, this sort of a rock wall
- between you and her is what you
- want to create. It makes eveyone’s
- lives easier and gives more uptime
- to everyone.
- This is important for Thaniel
- to make sure he can easily
- meet healchecks.
- Notice our Thaniel. He was lucky
- and got the fourth rock drop and
- thus could sit inside it until the
- end of the mechanic and never
- ever have to move.
- I immediately rolled towards a side
- to “declare” where I was going
- for the spread markers. I tend
- not to use S1 here to adjust
- for other people’s movements.
- Notice that I was overlapping with
- Orsem until the last moment.
- This is for uptime since you can hit
- her from outside Orsem’s spread
- marker but it is nigh impossible
- to judge properly quickly enough
- for it to be worth it.
- If I have the choice between S1 and
- S2 when entering the stack marker
- after a spread, I will always choose
- S1 over S2. S1 just fills more of
- the time in the mechanic.
- You can fit in more autos with it
- depending on how fast you
- get in, but I wouldn’t suggest
- it since you run the risk of
- cutting your S1 short.
- Roll backwards or skill after the
- stack marker because she is
- going to backpedal and you don’t
- want to be knocked back.
- Make sure you are far enough not
- to steal the breath bait if she
- has her back to a wall.
- You can also see the absolute
- minimum distance you can
- stand for maximum damage here.
- I try to stand near Xainfried for this
- so the Orsem doesn’t have too many
- targets to bait his
- meteors away from.
- I also try to stay away from Thaniel
- since he is taking the divebomb
- after this.
- Force strike to chase the dive.
- Learn to make this muscle memory.
- This is VERY important for uptime.
- See here that I made a mistake.
- See my S2 charge?
- It is almost full.
- It should have been up before she
- casts Grand Muspelheim.
- Remember that if you manage to get
- S2 right here, you can still catch
- her as she’s flying up.
- Force strikes also have enough
- verticality to hit her while she is
- flying up, so get in the habit
- of tagging her when she does this.
- You have to manually aim it,
- however because she is
- untargetable in this part.
- Preparing a force strike for when
- she lands. I only hit her once here
- with it but if you time it better
- you can hit her twice with it.
- Notice that my S1 is up but
- I didn’t use it. That is because my
- S3 still needed to be charged
- by a significant portion.
- If my S3 was up or almost up,
- I would have used S1 here.
- 3 rolls away will take you ourside of
- Thaniel’s spread marker range.
- Use S1 after you arrive if you
- trust your team. Use autos
- or force strikes if you are too
- far from her if you don’t.
- Also I get double tagged here by
- a pixel. Be careful of Orsem’s
- marker. It will be the one that
- will likely clip you.
- This is the earliest point you can use
- your S2 after Grand Muspelheim if
- you miss the timing to do the final
- one beforehand.
- That is a lot of skill charge that
- went to waste if you didn’t
- manage to use it back then.
- It is worth about half a S2 cast.
- I stayed closer than I should have
- here only because I trust my Orsem.
- You should probably stand a little
- further away because she is about
- to charge.
- Break. Dragon. Skill.
- If using Leviathan, 1 auto then skill.
- 2 autos then dash to cancel
- after your skill.
- Notice that Xainfried has used
- his buff just prior to this.
- Look at those dragon skill numbers!
- 16150 from me, 19885 from Orsem,
- 30386 from Xainfried.
- Amazing!
- REMEMBER at what point she
- was in the fight when you broke her.
- She is going to continue where she
- left off.
- In this case, meteors into divebomb.
- Notice that everyone backed off so
- Orsem could take the bait.
- Also notice here how the baiting
- for the meteors will glitch just like
- the stack if you change into
- dragon or out of dragon from
- when the skill acquires you
- as a target. That’s why it is hitting
- empty space.
- Another force strike chase.
- I cannot stress enough how
- important it is to do these.
- I was late this time, however.
- Mistiming on my part for the
- knockdown. I intended for S2 to
- be still going while she backpedaled
- into me.
- Don’t do this.
- In general, this double breath into
- Hellfire phase is a sort of dead
- time for you and you can just
- wail on her without really looking
- at what she’s doing other than
- the breath direction.
- The timing here on the S1 I used
- was timed so that even if I got
- the rock it wouldn’t have been
- cancelled.
- You can get a feel for this with
- enough runs.
- Prepared to get behind a rock
- because as noted earlier, the
- third rock drop in the second
- Hellfire phase is not safe.
- Even if I get it, I still need to be
- behind an existing rock.
- Notice how Xainfried rolls
- to get behind a rock.
- Roll forwards to S2 because I knew
- I was getting the fourth rock
- as I had not been targeted before
- and the fourth rock is safe.
- You tend to want to drop
- these rocks near Brunhilda.
- That concludes this guide for
- High Brunhilda.
