As the sky started to turn from a glowy orange to a deep dark blue. As the shadows from the trees and buildings started to blend with the veil that was being laid on the city. As thousands of people started to go back home from school or their work. A girl is getting ready. For what? Witch-hunting.

A girl that, since her childhood days, admired heroines that fought the evil in the world with girly and bright clothes. Her house is regular, her existence in her school is regular, her grades are regular. Yet, tonight, she is doing a practice that was not longer done since centuries ago. Hunting witches, it's her way to show retribution to the city and society. Although, she does it in silence, from the anonymity.

It was a quiet night, she has not found a single witch so far. From a seaside park, she is watching the lights from the city. Some families walking, some kids holding their mother's hand, some fathers piggybacking their beloved kids. She does this to forget about some cloudy thoughts in her mind.

"One day, I'll have a family like that, with ...... him".
She closes her eyes and smiles, with her hand on her chest.

The city looks so pretty at night.
So many lights. So serene, yet, so lively.
I am so glad that this night seems to be a calm one.
There are so many people in that fair over there.
(Nostalgic)
So many couples...
I wonder if he went there...
(Sigh)
If it wasn't because of my duties as the guardian of this city.
I would have invited him.
It would've been so nice.
Visiting the stands...
Eating cotton-candy...
And then... maybe... walk back home... holding hands.

(Giggle, a bit embarrassed)

I sound like a child.
... Then again, I am exactly what I wanted to be when I was little.
Watching those shows with cute girls, with sparkly transformation sequences, fighting evil with magic...
To think that it seemed like something impossible.
Although... I would've like to pick my own costume.

I like the skirt though...
And this blouse is quite comfortable.
It fits me perfectly.

I guess that it's just how it works.
The kitty-thingy that granted me with these powers vanished and I had to learnt all the business by myself.

(Pause. Then, reminiscing)
To think that such a thing would happen...
It's been a month.
I was so disappointed and sad after-prom.
Ugh... why didn't I confess my feelings to him back then?
(Bothered)
I ran away, crying.
I was such a mess.
I ended up in a dark alley.
... Ugh, I even tried to throw myself in the trash container.
(Surprised)
But then, from that container, an odd-looking kitty appeared... and it talked!
I was already in a roller-coaster of emotions so, I was not that shocked...
But, man... that was one scary thing to live.
A kitty with sparkles, talking to me, from a trash container?
In the middle of the night, in a dark alley, none else around?!?!

(Chuckle. Relieved)
Good thing that it wasn't evil.
I used to watch so many shows with that.
An adorable little creature, turning some girl into a magical girl.
And that was happening to me right there, in real life!
I cannot remember entirely what it said but I do remember that it mentioned the presence of evil beings.
"Evil beings, that would be born from sorrow in the world.
And from the tears and emotions of a lonely girl, a bringer of hope would emerge".


(Reflective)
Hope...
Sorrow...
The world sure has a lot of both things.
But... which one is the absolute one?
Each day, I see them.
When I look at people's smiles... when I look at his smile.
When I see people being devoured by sadness and despair...
I wonder if I can actually do something about it.
Witches are born from the negative energy that negative emotions give.
Could something like that even be stopped?

T-They kill them in the process.
A-And they are very dangerous.
They cannot be perceived by regular people or methods.
Only by the victim and...

Like ... in those shows, you know.

Y-You don't look that surprised now...
(He explains)
