Background: Daiyu was born in Beijing, China with a fairly wealthy family. She lived with her parents, an older sister, and a younger brother. As the middle child, Daiyu wasn't noticed as often. Both she and her sister grew up loving to dance (they took lessons), but Daiyu always felt insecure, like second place to her sister. Between not being as successful in academics, socially, performing arts, and visually, Daiyu constantly felt insecure of herself. Her parents were very supportive of the two girls, and let them audition at age seventeen (her sister was nineteen). The two were accepted as trainees; however, unlike her sister, Daiyu couldn't speak Korean very well. She still struggles with it to this day.

Family:
- Huang Lihua
Daiyu'a mother. She is supportive of her daughters, though very expectant and intimidating. She finds Daiyu to be a little frustrating when she breaks down easily and isn't as successful as her sister. Daiyu isn't very close with her mother.
- Huang Niu
Daiyu's father. Like his wife, he expects a lot from his children, but he is pretty strict and pushy. He isn't very close with Daiyu either, like her mother. He thinks of Daiyu as too sensitive.
- Huang Meilin
Daiyu's older sister (currently twenty). She often unintentionally provokes jealously and insecurity from Daiyu, since she is better than Daiyu at almost anything  (that's what it seems like to Daiyu) and considered "the perfect child."
- Huang Jing
Daiyu's younger brother. He can be a smartass, a pest, and a brat—but he never seems to get into trouble. Ever. He's always seen as the angel while Daiyu gets the blame.

Onstage Persona: Daiyu is surprisingly very passionate onstage. She always looks like she is focused, yet having fun. She doesn't have many vocal parts due to her struggling with Korean, though. But she is known as a dancer.

Offstage persona: Daiyu is very quiet, since she still struggles with Korean. She is polite and kind, though. However, she can get nervous very easily while speaking.
How long has she trained with SM and has she been in any other entertainment before: She has trained for one year.

Personality: At first, Daiyu is very quiet due to the slight language barrier and her being shy. However, she is actually a very passionate and emotional person. She thinks very intellectually and is observant of her surroundings. She also likes to have fun in a light mood. Daiyu can get very sensitive and insecure at times, often beating herself up emotionally when she doesn't succeed or makes a mistake. When she's angry, she often shuts herself off from the world, ignoring you or responding to you coldly.
