  21. You know what you never see? A hero who gets the ability to heal others... and who proceeds to use that power to just help people on a regular basis. And so that is what I decided to do, as long as I could. Does that mean I showed up at a hospital one day? Of course not. But hospitals will cheerfully employ EMTs in the emergency room, and applying for a job working in the ER like anyone else went fine, it only raised eyebrows when they reached the 'other skills' portion and saw "the superpower of healing people via physical contact".
  22.
  23. Naturally somehow things got twisted around, the perceived use of healing power on one common criminal apparently was the inciting incident to drive him insane, a handful of people got upset over my healing anyone regardless of who they were - even though I was mostly using my power to stabilize people who were otherwise critical or on hospice - and of course we can't have nice things because people are willful idiots. And no matter how I explain anything, it seems I simply can't do well enough, or why do I work at the largest hospital in the city rather than at some smaller hospital, or why don't I just heal everyone in the hospital completely, or why don't I do cosmetic modifications to people and never mind that I can't even DO that... well, now I see why healers get grumpy.
  24.
  25. And then Apokalips attacked Earth.
  26.
  27. While things seemed bleak, the attacking New Gods found themselves on the wrong end of a hind blood dagger at opportune moments. Radion is the only thing that should be able to kill one of them, and yet this tool did the job handily. Orion showed up and expressed his incredulity at this happening, Steppenwolf and Darkseid seemingly dead at the touch of what seemed to be a simple iron dagger of all things, but pronounced the planet under Highfather's protection - even if it seemed it had unexpectedly changed the tide of the cold war between Apokalips and New Genesis.
  28.
  29. The rumor was that Apokalips imploded into civil war after this all happened, but I chose not to focus on that. More that the man who I had puppeted in order to kill Darkseid and his general - Dan Turpin - succeeded beyond all belief, even at the cost of his own life at Darkseid's omega beams at the last moment. But he'd allowed it, gone willingly to potential death, in order for the Earth to be free.
  30.
  31. The epitaph on his grave might have been a little bit much though. Earth's greatest hero, indeed. Ah well.
  32.
  33. I'm not entirely certain how this butterflied away the Justice League in this universe though, but it did.
