  1. The cadets' conversation is interrupted by the sight of a woman in Britannian RAF uniform entering the room, the rings on her sleeves indicating Wing Commander, equal to Lieutenant Colonel in Liberion Air Force. After looking around the Britannian starts walking towards Litvyak, and as she passes their table the cadets notice the ribbons on her breast, specifically the Silver Cross of Virtuti Militari. This witch is a Polish expatriate who fought as a volunteer in the RAF & was branded a traitor by the Orussian-backet Communist government after the war. The cadets steal a glance at the instructors' table, where both of the Karlsländer Colonels are trying to hide their nervousness, Karlsland had occupied this witch's homeland and hadn't exactly been kind to the population, though the Orussians had done the same almost simultaneously & had been just as bad in the territory they had occupied. Noticing the Colonels' expressions, the Polish witch stops to render the traditional Polish two-finger salute at them before continuing to walk towards Litvyak.
  2. >"How do you do, I am Wing Commander Wiktoria Urbanowicz" she introduces herself to Sanya.
  3. >"How do you do, I am Major Sanya Litvyak" Sanya responds with a gentle if shy smile.
  4. >"Do you know "Dzis do Ciebie przyjsc nie mogę"?" Urbanowicz asks her.
  5. >"The Waltz of Partisans? Yes, would you like me to play it?"
  6. >"If you'd be so kind."
  7.
  8. The entire O-club goes silent as Sanya starts playing & Urbanowicz starts singing, unexpectedly in English:
  9. "I can’t come to you today,
  10. I’m about to set off into the darkness of the night.
  11. Don’t look out of the window for me,
  12. your sight will sink in the fog anyway.
  13. You don’t have to know
  14. that I’m going to sleep in the woods.
  15. ;.:I can’t stay here anymore,
  16. cause my forest brothers are waiting for me.;.:
  17.
  18. The moon has set far behind the woods,
  19. the dogs are barking somewhere in the village.
  20. Don’t you ever think
  21. that I’m longing for some other girl.
  22. When I get back to you again,
  23. maybe by day, maybe by night,
  24. :,:we will feel like in heaven
  25. and you’ll give me tons of kisses.:,:
  26.
  27. But if I don’t return,
  28. let my brother plant my field.
  29. My bones will get covered by moss
  30. and they’ll fecundate the ground.
  31. One morning go out to the field,
  32. put your hands on the sheaf of wheat
  33. ;.:and kiss it as if it was a lover
  34. for I will be living in the ears of grain.;.:"
