- Why do you keep grinding this? When's Ape Escape? When's 10k follower special? When's everything you promised BibleThump?!
- -I don't know! Sometimes I just get caught up in going for a record I guess. Stuff will happen when I'm ready; prioritizing is hard.
- What's the video -- that's not your PB?
- -Yeah I'm just using Touval's 9:41 WR video now because I PB'd by 0.2 yesterday [ http://imgur.com/mhRk6uL ], so I got another 9:50, but forgot to save the video. So if I playback my old 9:50 vid, the splits won't align with it. Meh.
- You can find Touval's video on his YouTube [ http://youtube.com/Touval1 ]
- Will you continue to use a PB or WR video playback for future speedruns?
- -Probably not. I don't know.
- Where can you save time in the new PB?
- -Well, here's my splits vs. my sum of best segments, so you can scope it out yourself:
- 0:34.1------0:33.8
- 2:52.8------2:51.7
- 6:04.4------5:43.4
- 7:11.9------6:43.5
- 9:50.0------9:11.7
- Why do you collect gems? WR doesn't.
- -Just a personal choice to do so...You have to understand that proxying into Ripto is very hard and inconsistent, and will kill many runs before it actually happens, just as it did for Touval (it's not like he got that run easily). Even though I'm going for strats that are pretty hard too, hence why I've spent forever on this, in the end, it comes down to the difficulty of getting swim in air vs. getting an insanely precise proxy.
- Will you ever try for Swimless then?
- -Yes, eventually. Some time in the distant future. When I do it, I am actually not going to use the waterfall, but rather the penguin, which is thought to be even harder. [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PauCZoMsaGg ] or [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BronlAg04nA ].
- Why did you make a FAQ? You never have one.
- -Hmmmmmmmmmm, I have no idea. Probably won't become a standard, I've always been fine with repeating myself dozens of times. If you have a question, ask away!

- Is that 9...minutes?
- -Yes, it has become a very short speedgame for the any% category: practically a boss rush. And hopefully if I'm not just resetting the whole time you'll get to see how it goes.
- How are you jumping so high and going out-of-bounds so easily?
- -There's a criminally overlooked mechanic in the game that allows easy access to places made just out of reach with standard jumping mechanics called the double jump, which, well, gives roughly double the height & distance you were meant to be capable of reaching. To do it, press and hold X, and then press and hold Square, ~1/3rd of a second apart. Spyro can't have forward moving momentum at the time of pressing Square, so if you wish to try it I'd recommend not holding down forward/↑.
- How did you get such a humongous jump?
- -Proxy.
- What's a proxy?
- -Well in simplest terms, it's short for the term "proxy jump" which is just used to describe a huge jump. The way I am getting these proxies is through some means of collision detection, where Spyro's hitbox gets recognized as being stuck inside another entity's hitbox (Frog, Penguin, whatever). There are some proxies throughout Spyro games you can do simply by wedging yourself between two walls. The theory is that the programming was made to launch you out of close quarters if you ever managed to get stuck, as to prevent a softlock (being completely stuck, unable to get out of somewhere) from occurring.
- How do you proxy?
- -The inputs are pretty simple: Charge jump then press X, so Square[hold] → X → X. But the timing/positioning is really precise, fair warning.
- Why take damage during Crush?
- -It's actually faster. Taking damage gets him to run off his button/colored pad + makes him vulnerable, so I can flame Crush quickly AND have him run right back to the same button, which prevents him from running all the way across to a new button. I make him go to one different button during the fight because in Phase 3 his starting point will always be Red, and Blue is faster/easier to manage.
- Then what's with the showboating always getting close to the rocks and stuff?..
- -That is actually faster too...Crush is a strange fight for a speedrun. Crush will always look at you. What I'm doing is getting him to look back at the button, so lining myself up so that the button is in his line of sight. This will cause him to run straight back to it, removing his animation of turning around, which saves about half a second each time. Consequently, his shields stay up longer, which loses ~0.3 sec each time. All in all, it's about 1.5 sec faster than not paying attention to which way he's facing AKA old strats.
- What are you doing nudging against the wall? What does that accomplish?
- -I'd imagine this question will only come up when I fail it, but yeah...that there is known as the Gulp Skip. Keep watching if you want to see it done correctly I guess :P. It was the missing piece to the any% speedrun for so long, which enables you to skip the need for all the 14 talismans that Elora checks for before opening the gate to Gulp. It was found by Touval. I have a "tutorial" video on how to do it, but it's pretty outdated since I now use different "strats" for getting it...feel free to check it out at any rate [ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfMkUxtIOnE ]
- Dragon Shores early? Uhh, Infinite Fireball? wat? ...hao? y?
- -Loading zones for levels not yet unlocked are stored directly underneath in Spyro 2 and 3. And yes, you can out-of-bounds so hard in this game, you can snag the "reward" you're given for 100%ing the game by going OoB in Dragon Shores. I get it because it saves a LOT of time in the Ripto fight and is worth the detour.
