  1. >You’re driving down the road in the middle of a terrible storm.
  2. >You’re white knuckling the steering wheel and ever at the ready to hit the brakes if you need to.
  3. >The wipers are going as fast as they can, and it’s still just barely enough to let you see the road.
  4. >Your son is sound asleep in the back seat without a care for the weather outside.
  5. >Your sister sits meekly in the passenger seat.
  6. >Or at least you think she’s meekly sitting there.
  7. >She hasn’t said anything since you packed up the car in a hurry and you’ve been honestly too preoccupied with the road to look over to her.
  8. >The radio is off, no need for any other distractions from the road.
  9. >Besides, you know what it would say if it was on.
  10. >Severe storms with a tornado sighting nearby.
  11. >So the only audible companion you have is the rain bombarding the car and the frantic squeak of the wiper blades.
  12. >”Honestly Tia, I had no idea the weather would take a turn like it did.”
  13. >You don’t even acknowledge your sister’s words.
  14. >”It was indeed nice… the first few hours anyway. You have to admit it was a beautiful sunset.”
  15. >You start to scowl and give a quick side eye to her.
  16. >It was beautiful, but that really doesn’t make up for everything else.
  17. >”I personally can’t believe Anonymous slept through the storm, the tornado siren, us picking him up from his sleeping bag, and putting him into the car. I thought for sure he would have at least stirred, even a little.”
  18. >You thought he would too, but you weren’t surprised he didn’t.
  19. >Once your little man went to sleep, he was dead to the world until he decided to wake up… or unless he smelt breakfast.
  20. >”Sister, please. You haven’t said anything since we packed up and started driving. Just talk to me.”
  21. >She practically begs.
  22. >Alright… fine.
  23. “’I saw this beautiful camp site on one of those travel channels.’ ‘It’s only five hours away, Anonymous would love it.’ ‘It’ll do us all good to get out of the city for a while, get some fresh air.’ ‘I know we haven’t really gone camping before but how hard can it be.’ ‘I checked the weather, just a little something farther north. Nothing to worry about.’ ‘Trust me’ you said!”
  24. >You repeat back to her everything she told you when trying to sell you on this trip.
  25. “A week of planning, buying the sleeping bags, air mattress, a tent, cooking supplies, and everything else for a weekend camping adventure…”
  26. >You let out a frustrated sigh.
  27. “Loading up the car, driving five hours, buying the camping permit, the firewood, taking an hour to put the damn tent together and I still don’t know how we had pieces left over when we were done!”
  28. >She stays silent, she knows better to interrupt you when you’re ranting and venting.
  29. “Not that it mattered because almost right after we got everything setup and had dinner, it all had to be packed back up.”
  30. >You both are quiet and again, only the rain and wipers can be heard.
  31. >”Feeling better?”
  32. >She asks, already knowing the answer.
  33. “Yeah…”
  34. >She knew you always felt better after a rant, plus it really wasn’t her fault anyway with what happened.
  35. >There was no way she could have known the storm front would have moved further south than it was supposed to.
  36. >You would have been smack dab in the middle of it too if you didn’t get out of there when you did.
  37. “Phone still not working?”
  38. >She takes hers out and checks it.
  39. >”No. Probably the storm or a tower is down.”
  40. >Great, that means no gps.
  41. >All you really needed to do was drive away from the storm, and that’s just what you’ve been doing for the last hour or so.
  42. >You notice the rain starts to lessen.
  43. >It’s still a lot mind you, but it is less than it was.
  44. >At this point you’ll take what you can get.
  45. “Luna, can you turn on the radio and see if there’s an update please?”
  46. >She does and you hear static as she fiddles with the dial to get a station.
  47. >”-nd the tornado watch has ended, however there is a severe thunderstorm warning still in effect until 11pm.”
  48. >”That is good news at least.”
  49. “Yeah, one less thing to worry about. Now we just need to find a place to hunker down and wait for this all to blow over. Because I’m telling you now, we are NOT going back there.”
  50. >”Agreed.”
  51. >You continue driving down the freeway and see exit signs with advertising on them.
  52. “Let me know when you see an exit sign with lodgings listed on it alright?”
  53. >”Let me see... no just restaurants.”
  54. >Do you honestly expect different with the way your day has gone so far?
  55. >You pass the exit and settle in till the next one.
  56. >You see a lit billboard with a building on it a few minutes later.
  57. “Luna, what does that say?”
  58. >”It says… Fanta… Suites Hotel, next exit, then turn right.”
  59. “Well good enough for me, I’m getting tired.”
  60. >You pull off the freeway at the next exit and turn right and a few more minutes you see what has to be the hotel with a parking lot full of cars.
  61. >Probably taking shelter from the storm too.
  62. >You see a neon light sign that says vacancy on the front window near the lobby.
  63. >Good, they’re not full up yet.
  64. >You pull into an empty spot turn off the car and turn to Luna.
  65. “Alright, it’s still coming down hard out there. I’ll get Anon, you get the bags. I don’t want to have to come back out here if we don’t need to.”
  66. >”Agreed.”
  67. >You both unbuckle your seatbelts and look at each other.
  68. “On three. One… Two…”
  69. >You take a deep breath and mentally prepare yourself to get soaked again.
  70. “Three!”
  71. >Both your doors fly open and you get out of the car as quickly as you can to complete your set tasks.
  72. >Luna lets out a yelp as the cold rain beats down on her.
  73. >You open the rear door and try to pry your son out of his seat.
  74. >This would be so much easier if he was awake.
  75. >But again, this is kinda how your day has been going.
  76. >You pick him up once he’s unbuckled, shut the door, and carry him against your chest across the parking lot with Luna quickly behind you.
  77. >Safely under the awning and away from the falling rain you look at your sister who is soaked, knowing you probably look the same too.
  78. >You both start giggling at each other and it erupts into full blown laughter before too long.
  79. >At a certain point, all you can really do is laugh.
  80. >You walk inside once you have composed yourselves.
  81. >You only slightly feel bad you’re all dripping onto the floor of the lobby.
  82. >Walk up to the front desk, you ring the bell for service seeing no one behind it.
  83. >You immediately wince thinking the bell might rouse Anon, but he only slightly stirs in your arms.
  84. >A little old man with glasses pokes his head out from a back room and sees you.
  85. >”Oh my word, look at you. You’re probably soaked to the bone. Here, let me get you some towels.”
  86. >He says and disappears back into the back room, returning shortly with three towels.
  87. “Thank you. Your sign on the lobby said vacancy. Please tell me you have a room we can rent tonight.”
  88. >”I think so, let me check quick.”
  89. >He says while handing you the towels.
  90. >Walking over to his computer he quickly types away.
  91. >”Got caught in the storm I take it?”
  92. >”Yes, like many of the others here I assume.”
  93. >”Oh yes, got a lot of people here because of that. Roads are real bad out there. Ah yes, I do have one left.”
  94. >He looks over to you apologetically.
  95. >”It’s just a suite though, so just the one bed. I’m also out of roll aways too with so many people here I’m sorry to say. Do you still want it?”
  96. “Is it a big bed at least? Could we all sleep on it I mean?”
  97. >He nods.
  98. >”Oh yeah, it’s mighty big. Plus I’ll give it to you for the cost of a regular room for the trouble.”
  99. “Thank you very much, we’ll take it.”
  100. >You say while fumbling through your purse with your free hand to get your wallet.
  101. >”Just the three of you for the night?”
  102. >He takes the card and goes back to the computer.
  103. “Yes, two adults and a child.”
  104. >He smiles and nods at you.
  105. >”I’ll be just a second.”
  106. >”Perhaps our luck has changed.”
  107. >Luna whispers to you.
  108. “Let’s hope so.”
  109. >”Here you are, room 156. Near the pool. Just go down this hall and make a left, then follow the signs on the wall.”
  110. >He points in the direction of your room.
  111. “Thank you again.”
  112. >You smile and nod to him and walk away.
  113. >”A pool will be nice. Anonymous will definitely like that when he wakes up.”
  114. “Yes he will, but right now I just want to sit down and dry off. I can’t tell if I would rather have a hot shower or just collapse in bed.”
  115. >You are outside the door to your suite getting the key ready.
  116. >”Both sound surprisingly tempting right now.”
  117. >You open the door and walk in.
  118. >Luna turns on the light and starts to put the bags down.
  119. >Oh my…
  120. >You feel your cheeks blush.
  121. >Inside is a large bed, what would probably be two kings pushed together with silk or satin sheets on it.
  122. >But that isn’t what surprises you.
  123. >It’s the cuffs on the headboard and baseboard of the bed that catches your attention.
  124. >Again looking further, you see large mirrors on the ceiling right over the bed.
  125. >A large whirlpool tub in the corner and again large mirrors all around it.
  126. >There’s even a set of stocks in the other corner.
  127. >WHAT THE FUCK!
  128. >”Well, let us see what the suite… looks like…”
  129. >Luna must have finally turned around to notice it.
  130. >What the fuck place did you just check into with your sister and son!?
  131. >You reach for your receipt and key, trying to find the name of this place on either.
  132. >Well… it looks like you’re luck hasn’t changed.
  133. “Luna… what did you say the name of the hotel was?”
  134. >She blinks and looks at you in confussion.
  135. >”I, I believe it was Fanta Suites Hotel. It was hard to read in the rain.”
  136. >You hold up the key with the hotel name on it for her to see.
  137. “It’s ‘Fantasy Suites Hotel’ Luna!”
  138. >You whisper yell at her.
  139. >You walk over to the bed and place Anon on it before continuing to dry yourself off.
  140. “Just forget it, just dry off and get to bed and we can forget this entire night ever happened.”
  141. >You say more for yourself than any other reason.
  142. “Luna, can you get me my pajamas from the bag?”
  143. >She walks over and starts to raffle through the one bag… then the other…
  144. >She didn’t…
  145. >She looks up to you with a worried look on her face.
  146. >”I think I left that bag in the car…”
  147. >That’s it, you want to scream right now.
  148. >No, don’t do it.
  149. >You can handle this, just take a few deep breaths.
  150. “Well… what DO we have?”
  151. >”We have our shirts, pants, and toiletries. It seems I left our other items and Anonymous’s bag in the car. If you like I can go-”
  152. “No, it’s fine. Let’s just deal with it.”
  153. >You first take and get Anon undressed and put him under the covers, tucking him in.
  154. >You take a spare shirt you know is longer from the bag and walk into the bathroom.
  155. >The bathroom even is themed and features restraints.
  156. >At least they’re consistent.
  157. >Never mind that, just get dried off and changed for now.
  158. >You take off your soaked shirt, and you notice your bra is wet…
  159. >Perfect… just perfect.
  160. >You completely strip and towel yourself off.
  161. >Nothing you were wearing is salvageable because it’s so wet, so you put on the long shirt and hang your clothes in the bathtub to dry.
  162. >Exiting the bathroom you allow Luna to enter and do the same.
  163. >You walk over to the bed and get into a side and move to the middle next to Anon.
  164. >The sheets are definitely satin.
  165. >You feel the smoothness of the fabric against your bare legs.
  166. >It’s giving you goosebumps and sends a shiver down your spine.
  167. >You forgot how good something like this feels compared to your cotton sheets back home.
  168. >It doesn’t take long until Luna gets out of the bathroom in a similar style to what you’re wearing and gets into bed on the opposite side and moves towards the middle as well.
  169. >You lay on your back and see yourself in the mirror.
  170. >You start to smile and giggle again.
  171. >Luna looks up and does the same.
  172. >Soon you find yourselves laughing hard again like you did earlier.
  173. >At a certain point you just need to laugh.
  174. >And you have all crossed it some time ago.
  175. >Anon starts to stir at the noise and he finally opens his eyes.
  176. >Now he wakes up?
  177. >”M-mommy?”
  178. “Yes sunshine?”
  179. >”Where are we? Are we still camping?”
  180. “No honey, it was storming too much so we’re at a hotel.”
  181. >”Okay… I like these sheets. They feel nice. Can we get some for home?”
  182. >You hear Luna stifle another giggle.
  183. “We’ll see sweetie, now go back to sleep.”
  184. >He rolls onto his back and looks up at the ceiling mirror.
  185. >”Mommy?”
  186. “Yes honey?”
  187. >”Is that a mirror up there?”
  188. “Yes it is.”
  189. >”That’s cool…”
  190. >He says with a yawn.
  191. >”Night night…”
  192. >And with that he falls asleep again.
  193. >You shake your head at all that’s transpired today.
  194. >But still you find yourself smiling.
  195. >Oh what a day it’s been.
