Service should be resuming shortly. What happened, you might ask? Where's my forum? What the heck? Curious forum user and/or owner, I have the answer to your questions! In an attempt to better monetize the site, I added a different type of CAPTCHA for user registration which has CAPTCHAs in the form of ads. Unfortunately, this was nowhere near as effective as the older type, and a large number of spam bots were able to register (I've switched it back of course). The aforementioned spambots had themselves a party, effectively plugging the database so full of data it couldn't accept any new data. And since some of those forums under attack are no longer in use by humans, the spam accumulated to probably recordbreaking levels (they actually managed to knock down both mysql and httpd, I am quite impressed). I'll be spending a large part of my time in the upcoming weeks paring down those forums which are unused or spam filled. Not to worry, all data has been backed up, so if I delete your forum and you want it back, I'll be happy to do so. I'm only deleting a forum if of the first 1,000 posts, more than half is spam. If your forum only has like 50 actual posts and thousands of spam ones, it'll be deleted. Sorry for all this downtime, and expect a faster Forumify than ever before when we return shortly!!
