- INT. CLEARING, SMALL HOUSE, EVENING, RAINING
- Shot of a small pennant bearing the the symbol of the Court of Patrons. Panel zoom out reveals a peasant man and a woman preparing food for themselves, whilst their son plays around with some marbles on the dirty, trodden wood floor of the home. Their preparation is interrupted when there is a knock heard at the door.
- MAN
- Who could be at the door at this rain?
- WOMAN
- Be careful, could be bandits or raiders. More of them around since Tiaquin.
- MAN
- I doubt bandits stop to knock.
- The man walks to the door and opens it up, the shot being of his face as the door opens.
- MAN
- Well, if it isn’t clergymen, what brings you to our little hole in the woods this evening?
- The shot gives view of the two Inquisitor siblings from the previous chapter, Reagan and Trefor. Reagan is a woman of medium build with flowing blond hair and a feminine visage, with icy blue eyes. Or well, eye, as one of her eyes is out of use due to a deep scar, covered with an eyepatch. Trefor, her brother behind her, is also blond, with a full mustache and beard. The two are adorned in black armor with red and yellow embellishments.
- TREFOR
- The rain, good sir. We’re terribly sorry to ask this, but could we perhaps wait it out in your home?
- MAN
- Of course, the two of you should join us, we were just about to have our supper. I’ll have her set aside something for you two.
- REAGAN
- Oh no, please, we couldn’t possibly infringe on you like that. Quarter until the rain passes will be enough.
- MAN
- Nonsense, the wife always makes more than we’d eat in one sitting anyway. You two must be famished after traveling for so long.
- Smash cut transition to the four adults laughing whilst eating with one another, the woman of the home having cracked an especially amusing joke. Trefor is slamming the table and looks up to ask the woman more about the tale.
- WOMAN
- So by the time he came out the main hall of the parish with only wearing the rivets of a hose on his naked self, that's when I knew I had to get out of town.
- TREFOR
- Really, he came out with a hose?
- WOMAN
- Yes, exactly! (laughs) It was by far the most incredible thing I’d ever seen.
- REAGAN
- (chuckling) Absolutely ridiculous.
- The boy sits slumping on the table, tired and bored. A fly from the outside rolls in through the cracks of the shanty home, and catches him off guard, and not realizing where he is, overreacts.
- BOY
- Agh!
- Blue and purple sparks and flashes fly up from his hands as he’s startled, zapping the fly and flying onto everyone else’s. The boy puts his hands away immediately, realizing his grave mistake. His parents are also on edge, and he looks up to meet Reagan’s piercing eye.
- Reagan looks at the boy with extreme disdain. Her eye twitches and she then abruptly grabs the hilt of her sword and stands. Reagan slowly draws her blade and brandishes it, placing her hand on it and examining the steel. She steps forward and speaks as she looks at the blade in a cold, crippling voice. REAGAN stands before them, eyeing the family. She breathes deeply, and retains her steely composure.
- The boy starts to cry.
