- Welcome to Azure Island Productions IRC Channel. What exactly are we? Azure Island Productions was originally the development home of both SRB2 Chaos Domain, and an old Sonic Robo Blast 2 mod, headed by the brothers CoatRack and Blade. It was an overly ambitious mega-modification, which intended to turn SRB2 into a full on RPG adventure.
- Needless to say, it soon died out once the immensity of work and the lack of proper ability hit the members. But even though the project died, the friendships that had been made did not, and the channel lives on today, with a new purpose.
- Azure Island Productions is now a place where aspiring or current game developers, graphic designers, architects, musicians, or people with simply no idea of who they are, can come together to chat, encourage, and help each other out. From deep artistic critiquing to discussion on life issues, that's what we're all about. Feel free to unload your cares or concerns, but don't forget to share the happy times too!
- ♦
- That all being said, here are some general guidelines to keep in mind when chatting. I refrain from writing a strict system of rules, because there are always exceptions, even loopholes and exploits which can be used to get around the spirit of the rules.
- This place is about intelligently encouraging each other, advising each other, and building each other up. If your words compromise that goal, then there's a problem.
- Don't troll (that is to speak with the goal of evoking a negative response) other members of the channel, ever.
- Intelligent conversation being the goal, please refrain from prolonging pointless and unfunny conversations. Even jokes themselves can be done in an intelligent and earnestly funny manner. If your joke has to resort to random nonsense, offensive jesting, or culturally taboo topics in order to be funny, it's worthless and isn't genuinely funny in the first place. We may laugh when people fall and scrape their knees, but that doesn't make it actually funny.
- Under intelligent conversation, there's not much that is considered "taboo". If you feel the need to have a discussion on legalized prostitution and the damage it may cause society, you're welcome to do so. But if you want to make uninspired jokes about the size of your genitals, you're absolutely not welcome.
- Be no more sexually explicit than any conversation demands. It's rare that there is actually any reason for explicit conversation other than sexual urging, so keep your conversations clean. Don't be horny in the channel.
- Be mindful of the comfort levels of other members in the channel. If there are younger children in the channel, don’t talk about information they’re not mature enough to handle. If you aren’t sure, then assume there are.
- Use good logic. Millions of men have spent thousands of years debating and arguing over the elements of good reasoning, and there's no need to disregard what they've left us. If you need a brush up on what defines bad logic, this page may be of help.
- Remember the difference between facts, and opinions. An opinion says “I enjoy chocolate ice cream. A fact says “chocolate ice cream satisfies sweet cravings, therefore makes for a suitable dessert.”
- Respect other people's views only as far as they are respectable. That is, until they abandon good logic. Do keep in mind, that two completely different mindsets can both be just as logical, as they may be based on differing facts. But never, ever, antagonize someone over their opinion, whether it be good or bad.
- A point in case:
- If one believes that a God exists to be a fact, it is logical to assume there is an afterlife. If one believes that a God does NOT exist to be a fact, than it is similarly logical to assume that an afterlife does not exist.
- If you don't have any real knowledge on the subject at hand, respect the other person's opinion by default. Don’t be the peanut gallery. Ridicule based on ignorance will not be tolerated and can result in punishment or exclusion from the group.
- Overall, these are things any person should be observing in their daily communications with others. There shouldn't be much of a problem for you if you're used to treating others in the intent of this channel.
- If you know someone whom you think might be interested in joining the channel, please ask some of the channel operators before inviting them. If a large group of people suddenly invades the channel without warning, we will likely ban them until further explanation is made. It looks like an invasion.
- If you have suggestions, concerns, or complaints, feel free to talk to any of the channel administrators. The full list of channel admins is listed as follows:
- Sherman (CoatRack), channel founder.
- Wesley (Charybdizs), channel moderator.
- Desmond (Blade) channel moderator.
- Gnabot (Gnabot) is a bot, and will not be of much help. :p
