  1. Mechanics explanation
  2.
  3. The way Galex works is a bit complex.
  4.
  5. Her combo fills a special bar called skill reservoir. Every full combo (C5) will fill one bar and the cap is 3 bars.
  6.
  7. Her S1 and S2 each deplete her skill reservoir by 1 bar when used, and if there is at least 1 bar left in skill reservoir, creates an opportunity for a skill chain.
  8.
  9. When this happens, skills available to chain will have a blue effect on the border of their icons.
  10.
  11. You can always chain a skill into itself, this will result in increased damage.
  12.
  13. If the enemy has a buff when you use the first skill, you will be able to chain the opposite skill to dispel.
  14.
  15. Similarly, if the enemy is broken when you use the first skill, you will be able to chain the opposite skill to deal massive bonus damage.
  16.
  17. There is enough time to do a full combo between skills and maintain the chain, so it is usually not a good idea to use skills back to back. Instead do a combo between them.
  18.
  19. Skills enhanced by skill chain can trigger skill chain themselves, meaning you can keep chaining for as long as you like.
  20.
  21. Skills enhanced by skills chain will not inflict defense down or poison. To inflict these you must break the chain to use the base versions again.
  22.
  23.
  24. Optimal Play
  25.
  26. Because S1 does more damage and is faster than S2, your DPS primarily comes from chaining S1 with itself.
  27.
  28. Every so often you must break the chain to inflict poison and defense down again.
  29.
  30. Even if these effects are already present from other characters, it is still better to break the chain and inflict them again because you gain a strength buff when you inflict poison. However this gain is not too large so if you would rather just keep spamming S1 then that is also fine.
  31.
  32. When the enemy has a buff, you should alternate your skills to dispel it.
  33.
  34. When the enemy is broken you should alternate your skills to deal massive damage.
  35.
  36.
  37. Rotation outside of break/dispel
  38.
  39. - Only use skills 1 and 2 when you have at least 2 bars of skill reservoir
  40. - Do a full combo between skills
  41. - If poison/def down are not present or about to expire, use S2
  42. - Otherwise use S1
  43.
  44.
  45. Example loop
  46.
  47. S2 c5 S1 c5 S1 c5 ... S1 c5
  48.
  49. Interrupt S1 chain when poison or def down are about to expire, which is after 5 S1s if there are no delays due to enemy mechanics.
  50.
  51.
  52. Dispel
  53.
  54. You MUST have at least 2 bars to dispel shield in Kai.
  55.
  56. Wait until shield is up to use your S2. It will whiff and open skill chain up. Then use S1, which will dispel the shield and the buff that generates it.
  57.
  58. Since shield cleansed poison, your next skill should be the base version S2 to re-inflict poison.
  59.
  60.
  61. Break
  62.
  63. When you break, you want to alternate your break killer skills. However, the break killer chain does not open up until you use a skill during break.
  64.
  65. If you used S1 before break, your options are base S2 or skill chain S1. Use S2 if poison is about to expire, otherwise use S1. Whichever you do, alternate skills from there on out.
  66.
  67. If you used S2 before break, your options are base S1 or skill chain S2. Use S1 if defense down is about to expire, otherwise use S2. Whichever you do, alternate skills from there on out.
  68.
  69.
  70. About c4FS
  71.
  72. It is technically possible to get around a 10% gain in DPS by doing c4FS instead of C5. However this is only assuming you execute it perfectly which is extremely difficult, especially with a 30% attack speed buff.
  73.
  74. In practice C5 is fine, and chances are even if you can do c4FS you aren’t doing it frame perfect and aren’t getting that much out of it.
  75.
  76. However feel free to try it if you like this kind of challenging execution. Just don’t do c3fs by accident!
