Born into an average middle class family, Ji-Eun is the youngest, she has an older brother who is 7 years older than her. Due to the fact that she was the youngest, she was considered the baby of the family and her family members were all very protective of her. Though they were protective, their parents was strict on them, making sure the have other activities besides studies, such as sports and arts. Ji-Eun had interest in martial arts while Ji-hoon had interest in building furniture.

It was all good until her parents died during a holiday is Thailand where they were swept away by the tsunami. She was just only 10 where else her brother was only 17. They were forced to stay with their other relatives until Ji-hoon became of legal age and took care of Ji-Eun by himself. Needing to find a suitable and stable job, Ji-hoon had to give up his dream of building his own furniture design company and work as an accountant at Kim corporation. Not wanting to Ji-Eun to have an unhappy life, he tried his best to give everything he could for her, even though she refuse and even prevent her to work part time. She would feel guilty and had made up her mind that she would help her brother to achieve his dream.

Because of this, she studied hard and manage to get a full scholarship at a prestigious university in order to become a doctor. Before she could manage to accept it, her brother was accused of murder and was sent behind bars. She decided to put her studies on hold while managing to have the university to keep her scholarship until her return, against her brother's wishes and to find the real murderer.
