- Following Minnesota law, The Hague Convention on Intercountry Adoption and the laws of the countries in which we work, we may be able to obtain information on behalf of adopted adults and parents of adopted minors. Depending on your country of birth, we may be able to assist you to:
- Request additional information from adoption agencies, birth family members, abandonment witnesses, orphanages and foster families
- Attempt to locate and contact your birth family and/or foster family
- Exchange information, such as letters and pictures, with individuals important to your adoption story
- Replace documents held by overseas adoption agency
- Support travel and meetings/reunions with birth and foster families

- Document copies, updates and other special requests
- Adopted adults, birth parents or adoptive parents are able to request that their file be checked for updates or requests for contact from other members of the adoption triad. Requests for allowable file copies, background information and specific requests, such as information about naturalization, are possible with this service.

- An adopted adult or parent of an adopted minor placed after August 1, 1982 may be able to receive identifying information from their placing agency about one or both of the birth parents named on their original birth certificate. Provided the birth parents did not file an Affidavit of Non-Disclosure, an adopted adult or parent of adopted minor can receive the identity of birth parents named on the birth certificate, including birth dates, last known addresses and birth places.
