  1. [21:16] {NARRATION} Everyone's eyesight is real bad right now. Because the moment Adar moved up to take a good look at the lake, there's signs of a struggle and the sound of Adar screaming moments before he's vanished from their sight, the water is rippling, and his sextant had been left muddy on the ground.
  2.
  3. The Dreadwoods grow dreadfully still and silent. Adar, you have two turns to be released from whatever nabbed you before you suffocate and inevitably die.
  4.
  5. The rainbow water seems utterly unchanged bar some ripples that spread out, seemingly homing in on where Adar was just standing..
  6.
  7. .. Oh dear.
  8. [21:27] Being abruptly nagged and sunken into the lake. Adar's worse suspicions would be confirmed. They'd all been careless, even the navigator, who had remained cautious to the point of paranoia.
  9.
  10. Without his tool to properly concentrate his powers, he'd be mostly left to his own devices, fighting back against the pull of whatever had brought him down into the stream.
  11.
  12. Holding onto his breathing as well as he'd allow, Adar would channel a scalding pressure of heat onto the palm of his hands, pressing it down against the surface of whatever had tugged him under, hoping it'd loosen it's grip. The water in close proximity changes from uncannily cold to the point of near-freezing to boiling point hot within a few sparse seconds.
  13. (Adar)

  18.
  19. [21:36] The size of a house? That's fine - the bigger the target, the easier it is to hit. The screeching of the fish and the shifting in the water clued Milon into its location, and with a spin of her staff she called down a bolt of blackened lightning...
  20.
  21. ...And promptly redirected it, because striking the water while Adar is still in it is probably a bad idea. She opted, instead, to manifest a javelin of pure occultic energy and hurl it right into the water.
  22.
  23. It's like whaling, but somehow even edgier.
  24. (Milon)
  25. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  26.
  27. [21:41] The moment he lays eyes on it, Adonis knows that the creature has to die.
  28.
  29. Not for attacking Adar or defying the very laws of nature, but because it was a special snowflake.
  30.
  31. And the only snowflake that the blonde could really tolerate outside of his friend group was himself.
  32.
  33. As the lance of occult is tossed forward, he seeks to create one made entirely of crystal and do the same. More importantly, he scribes a particular set of runes along the side of his weapon before hurling it. If the scaled-fiend was lanced by some chance, the javelin would give away its location (as if it wasn't already easy to see and track).
  34.
  35. "Think the shard is causing that?"
  36. (Adonis Lelhua)
  37. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  38.
  39. [21:44] A deafeningly husky cry of pain would be suffocated by the lake's lack of air, only for it to resonate in sub-bass frequencies across it's entirety. With his leg released, yet visibly punched out of shape, the occultist could only focus his whole efforts in beating the monster to the surface of the lake.
  40.
  41. He wouldn't swim. Instead, the particles of water had seemed to loose density, no longer fighting back against the mass of his body advancing upwards.
  42.
  43. Gravity magic propelled him like a rocket to leave the body of water in bullet-like speed, attempting to once more reach the team.
  44.
  45. "Fight it! Don't just stand there!"
  46. (Adar)

  66. [22:10] ** Escaping Light [DM] has inflicted an injury upon Adar. ("Wounded Leg", "Adar's leg was thrashed and torn to ribbons by the N I T R O S W U I S A R M E, dragging him under water and almost collapsing one of his lungs.", "Temporary", "Duration: Medium (4 days)") **
  67. [22:11] ** Escaping Light [DM] has inflicted an injury upon Adar. ("Seared Right Arm", "Adar's right arm has been burned down to the muscle with an obscene amount of flame. The injury itself is easy enough to heal, though insanely painful.", "Temporary", "Duration: Medium (4 days)") **
  68. [22:11] {NARRATION} Adar. /Vit.
  69. [22:11] {NARRATION} Adar lives.
  70. [22:18] Once she ascertained that Adar was at a safe distance - or, perhaps, once she stopped caring - the lightning bolts began to fly. Red and black lances of pure electricity flew from her jagged staff, striking both at the creature and the water around it; she didn't seem to care whether she hit or not.
  71.
  72. Hell, to Milon, electrocuting the water around the fish was probably even more fun - like tossing a toaster into a bathtub. It was all fun and games for most of the proceedings, but once she saw Vetani go down the smile faded from her face. It was rare that the girl opted to be serious - it made life more boring, and the hedonistic youth had no time to spare to be bored.
  73.
  74. With a roar she dove in, charging her staff with occultic electricity to shove right through the fish - only to be rewarded with a wave of fire. She let out a gasp - probably not enough to be considered an ordinary human reaction - and quickly moved herself out of the way via gravity magic.
  75.
  76. ...Someone else could deal with that. She's just gonna... wait over here, and tear off the sleeve of her coat to use as a makeshift bandage. She seemed more interested in hiding her leg than anything - maybe she was in shock, and the unbearable pain would set in later.
  77.
  78. Granted, if anyone asked - she'd still say it was about a 6 or a 7.
  79. (Milon)
  80. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  81.
  82. [22:22] Vetani's eyes are alight. Milon and Adonis seemed slightly more calm at the re-emergence and discovery of Adar and the tainted, flaming beast, but she was not. She. Couldn't be. At the source of the spire shard, she couldn't dream that something would outright leap at Adar. Leap at her, if Adar wasn't so insistent on going in front.
  83.
  84. After her swarm of winds and her friends' magic, she dives after. The close attacks almost come, but she looks into the beady eyes of the Swuisarme from her flight.
  85.
  86. A grand Swuisarme, large as a building.
  87.
  88. (Vetani hoped her dreams reached so high. Spire shard, spire shard. It calls her... to draw back from her foe. She has more dreams than the satisfying impact of closely-ranged magic)
  89.
  90. Drumbeats from Vetani and flying bolts of electricity weave across each other in a clash of magic. It leads a conduit straight to her, and each and every one of Vetani's movements grows more erratic. The effects build up more and more, strong gusts of wind and holy mana go strong, yet erratic. Every step becomes a struggle.
  91.
  92. She doesn't feel the cold or wet. It's all heat. Vetani feels the Swuisarme's presence gone from the Dreadwoods, but her wild look remains as she searches for everyone.
  93. (Vetani)
  94. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  95.
  96. [22:23] The shredded skin on his shoulder only serves to make Adonis more upset.
  97.
  98. And unlike most situations, this time, he is going wild.
  99.
  100. Bullets of cosmic and energy spray out this way and that as the fight nears its end, with him doing just about everything he could to avoid falling victim to the might of the nitro fish.
  101.
  102. " You better be watching, Mona. I'm about to dazzle ya'. "
  103.
  104. And so he does, exerting himself to a point where his golden energy is outweighed by cosmic power. Wings take shape behind him and he dashes straight in, aiming to burn through the enemy with one final cosmic barrage.
  105.
  106. " Yeah, yeah. And if you're all still alive... let's keep moving. "An overly casual gesture follows as some of the enemy's blood is flicked from the end of his brush.
  107. (Adonis Lelhua)
  108. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  112.
  113. [22:33] N i t r o
  114.
  115. it was indeed.
  116.
  117. In spite of the thrash leg bite hindering his mobility and concentration greatly, Adar mustered enough strength to press on and face the beast, avoiding certain death underneath it's fiery maws.
  118.
  119. The flames it would sprawl were vicious, unlike any other he'd seen during his lifetime. Overpowered and ragdolled by it's veil of certain fiery death, the navigator saw himself engorged in a wall of heat of cataclysmic proportions.
  120.
  121. At the receiving end of it - his bandaged right arm.
  122.
  123. The last remaining vestiges of Tobias' vibrant halo within him. His living heirloom, forever imprinted on his flesh. Now at risk of seeing itself consumed and carbonized by alien sources of power, taken from him.
  124.
  125. No.
  126.
  127. The bandages would effortlessly disintegrate into naught but ash, revealing the near-transparent complexion of his glowing limb, traces of cosmic energy would faintly irradiate from within it in a phantasmal veil. Slowly, the marked arm would scorch and melt.
  128.
  129. But he couldn't allow it. It was all he had left.
  130.
  131. "How… DARE YOU!?"
  132.
  133. An abrupt pool of comparable size lit itself purple, propelling the monster's attacks back.
  134.
  135. Adar's cursed flames, driven by his whimsical, headstrong wish to preserve the Ulrich's halo forever within his silhouette, answered by manifesting a pair of building sized wings within his back.
  136.
  137. "YOU WILL NOT TAKE HIM FROM ME, YOU COINCIDENTAL MISHAP OF NATURE!"
  138.
  139. At a similar velocity, yet now packing brute-like momentum and cadencial weight, Adar flew into the creature's maw engorged by his cocoon-like whirl of blazing airfoil. Untouched by it's sharp teeth, and straight into it's throat.
  140.
  141. "YOU HAVE BROUGHT THIS UPON YOURSELF! YOU FIEND!" Adar strained his voice. Partially, the aesthetically encouraging gloom and dolor of the dreadwoods could be to blame for his sudden outburst of rudeness. Yet, anyone who knew how fond the navigator had become of his phantom limb could've been able to tell.
  142.
  143. This was what he wanted.
  144.
  145. Then, after a brief, blistering implosion of purple combustion from within, combined with the external assault of lightning, wind and energy of the expeditioners. The creature had been felled.
  146.
  147. From within it's corpse, after seconds, the scholar would lethargically slide out. His mumbling would make the clear pain, distress and exhaustion obvious.
  148.
  149. "My… what an unfortunate encounter… "
  150. (Adar)
  151. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  152.
  153. [22:34] Adar says, "I am in dire need of a drink, one moment, if I may..."
  154. [22:35] {NARRATION} Lake goes silent. There doesn't seem to be much in terms of surroundings. Perhaps what Adar had seen when it dragged him below would be of importance.
  155. [22:40] Vetani rises with a struggle, scorched hands still clutching her drum. They'd never let go...
  156.
  157. "Everyone's hurt, and..."
  158.
  159. There's something much, much worse than an injury. She looks toward Adar first. He was drinking an elixir, but the feeling still remained.
  160.
  161. His bandages were burned off, and so the cosmic remains were replaced by Occult. "It's... gone." she says in a hushed voice, like Adar would need that further hammered home. The Dread starts creeping into Vetani despite her eagerness.
  162. (Vetani)
  163. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  164.
  165. [22:49] Seconds after having drank the elixir, his entire body's shape would twist, curl and warp. Adar's injuries were swiftly, yet painfully removed from within his figure. A hand would extend over from his prone position to meet Vetani's heel, pressing onto it.
  166.
  167. The adverse feelings were common threat. He needed to be better than this, concentrate.
  168.
  169. "Now's not the time." He'd brush off, knowing the stakes had risen unabashedly. To grieve, prod and sulk would've meant the end of the journey. "I saw something down there."
  170.
  171. Recomposing himself languidly, the navigator would retrieve the muddy, worn sextant.
  172.
  173. "I saw something glow as I was being dragged underwater. Managed to get a good look at it, luckily."
  174.
  175. An exasperated sigh.
  176.
  177. "There's a cavern down there. I hope you all know how to swim."
  178. (Adar)
