  3. You may remember being told to go to a board on a site called 4chan, the technology board. Your response to it was "I tried to read that page, but I only saw inane comments". This, is definitely true. It has become a bit of a lightning rod for fools. However, there is a little used part of the website that is a text only board, in the fashion of old BBS's, kind of. No one ever goes there, apart from...who has found it and goes there. It's the programming board.
  4. The difference between this board and the inane imageboard you tried to read is that 1) it is not populated by people who are (generally) fools. The second attribute of it is that threads do not 404 within a day. I know you browse the web via some kind of wget setup, so if there was a question/answer thread there, you would actually be able to reply. People there are not the instant gratification types that would not appreciate waiting for an answer from you.
  5. I'm not entirely sure why, but they have some kind of adoration for Gerald Sussman, and have had contact with him before. He lectured them on the cult of personality, and not to put him on a pedastal, which is great really.
  6. I personally would dearly love it if you would agree to look at a thread of questions and maybe answer the ones you feel like. I know you are very busy, but if you don't ask you don't get. If you are OK with this, would you please let me know and I will send you the link to the thread.
  7. Yours, respectfully, <REDACTED>

  15. That is good. I sometimes say similar things to people who admire me
  16. more than they admire freedom.

  21. I can do it; I think I've done it before.

  30. Sorry, I don't have time to read a thread of mail. I have to do
  31. things efficiently or I can't do them at all.
  32.
  33. If you send me a list of questions, I can think about asking them.
  34.

  36.
  37. OK, that is completely understandable. I get the feeling that it might
  38. be better this way anyway.
  39.
  40. First question, it has been said that you do not do much programming
  41. any more, due to using your time in other ways. Do you ever miss the
  42. times when you would program for hours at a time?
  43.
  44. Second question, What's your thoughts on the 'secure boot' feature
  45. related to Windows 8 which prevents booting unauthorized operating
  46. systems?
  47.
  48. Third question, What guns/weapons do you own? In addition: What is
  49. your favorite martial arts style?
  50.
  51. Fourth question, My question to RMS is is what could I do with my
  52. life? I do love free software and like to help it but there are other
  53. problems like hunger and war so I don't really know what to do......
  54.
  55. Fifth question, In one of your articles, you wrote:
  56. If your daughter gets pregnant by the football captain you blame the
  57. school for poor sex education.
  58. A responsible teacher would have taught her effective birth control
  59. techniques as well as pleasurable sex techniques.
  60.
  61. What exactly did you mean by ``to teach pleasurable sex techniques''?
  62.
  63. These are the only serious questions so far. They have already
  64. generated some debate amongst the posters, some who are interested on
  65. what your take will be on them.
  66.
  67. Again, thank you very much for your time so far, and considering
  68. answering these questions.

  73. any more, due to using your time in other ways. Do you ever miss the
  74. times when you would program for hours at a time?
  75.
  76. Sometimes. But I could not do it now as well as I did when I was
  77. young. Meanwhile, there are lots of people writing free software now;
  78. my contribution, added to theirs, would be a small addition. What I
  79. am doing now is a lot more important, and a lot more scarce.
  80.
  81. Second question, What's your thoughts on the 'secure boot' feature
  82. related to Windows 8 which prevents booting unauthorized operating
  83. systems?
  84.
  85. Microsoft, take your boot off our computers!
  86.
  87. Third question, What guns/weapons do you own? In addition: What is
  88. your favorite martial arts style?
  89.
  90. The only weapons I own are two swords that have been given to me as
  91. gifts. I don't know how to use them, though. I have never done
  92. martial arts.
  93.
  94. Fourth question, My question to RMS is is what could I do with my
  95. life? I do love free software and like to help it but there are other
  96. problems like hunger and war so I don't really know what to do......
  97.
  98. Work on any of them -- pick a problem you see a way to be effective
  99. at!
  100.
  101. Fifth question, In one of your articles, you wrote:
  102. If your daughter gets pregnant by the football captain you blame the
  103. school for poor sex education.
  104. A responsible teacher would have taught her effective birth control
  105. techniques as well as pleasurable sex techniques.
  106.
  107. Yes, a good education should include those.
  108.
  109. What exactly did you mean by ``to teach pleasurable sex techniques''?
  110.
  111. My idea of a sex class is like a massage class or a dance class. You
  112. have a class of 10 to 16 people, either equally straight males and
  113. straight females, or all gays of the same sex. And one or two
  114. teachers.
  115.
  116. The teacher would demonstrate a technique by doing it to a student and
  117. inviting the student to do it to the teacher, while the other students
  118. watch. Then the students would do the technique with each other, in
  119. couples usually, and every so often the teacher would call on one
  120. group to advance around the circle.
  121.

  123.
  124. Thank you so much for answering! I especially enjoyed your answer as to what to do with your life, sage words.
  125.
  126. Strangely enough, some people have shown incredulity that these answers are actually coming from you in regards to the sex education question. I think they find it hard that someone they admire for your political action regarding free software has views that teachers should be sexually involved with the students. Personally, I can see the merit in it. As I come from England, when I was growing up it was hardly ever discussed in school, and this lead to a lot of bad decisions by some of the people I knew. Also I've met some women over the years who could probably have benefited from a few lessons in sex ed.

  133.
  134. I gather that men, in general, need it more than women.
  135.
  136. In Mangaia, according to an anthropology book I read, everyone starts
  137. having sex in the early teens, and they have sex with most of the
  138. teenagers they know, and learn various sorts of "sexual gymnastics".
  139. Later they start forming relationships that are deeper than that.
  140.
  141. It would be so nice to have grown up in a society that wasn't prudish about sex.
