  1. People have been asking why I asked to no longer have voice on SRL. Although the honest reason is "tired", below are some other excuses that may have contributed:
  2.
  3. * Some games or goals were unclear as to whether or not they were legitimate to race on SRL. Some people complained. Others were condescending to those that played these goals (myself included, which bugged me even more). Altogether, I couldn't make decisions on whether or not these goals were either to be .record'd or .end'd, and it was frustrating because it was more frequent than people would normally realize.
  4.
  5. * I would get PM'd constantly about .record'ing races, even though the PM'er well knows that they can create another race and have been told several times in the past. They decide to ask me anyway because "I'm a nice guy." There are other PM's I'd also receive, such as repeated complaints about how the system is wrong or why such-and-such higher-ups aren't doing anything to fix a particular problem or releasing a new feature. I'm purposefully now out of the loop on that.
  6.
  7. * Super Smash Bros. Destroy the Porn. Super Smash Bros Melee. Super Smash Bros Brawl. Back-to-back 5 minute goals being raced for several hours straight. I'm sure there are others.
  8.
  9. * My last ban on SRL was for someone that kept .startrace'ing and failing to identify (kept revealing his password). He didn't get a warning because I had no hope in him. He later was unbanned because I failed to give him a warning before banning.
  10.
  11. * People off SRL kept asking me to unban them from SRL, even though I had no contribution to the ban. One in particular is Earthquake Man. It's surprising how little you get asked that when you no longer have any influence or power in the community.
  12.
  13. * I heard too much gossip when I was on the IRC constantly, and that's on both sides (I gossiped as well, and that bugged me). I'm tired of trying to ignore it. As a result of no longer having voice, I feel much less obligated to staying on IRC constantly and, therefore, hearing the gossip as frequently.
  14.
  15. * I wanted to give other people a chance at voice. I knew that if I'd leave, they'd gives at least 1 or 2 users voice in my place. I'm perfectly fine with that. It's a good opportunity to contribute to the community that you've been a part of for a while, and it's a good way to give them thanks for the service. I just got tired of it, and now I'm a grumpy idler on SRL.
  16.
  17. Hope that answers some questions for people who have been wondering. Again, these are excuses. I realize most if not all of these excuses are poor, but holding in these personal feelings after a while got the best of me (meaning I wasn't strong enough to stay there for long). I don't regret losing voice, and I applaud those who are voices and especially hops and ops because of how well they have dealt with their responsibilities. Major kudos to them.
