thanksgiving update

First... to close the loop on the SMRPG Turbo craziness from last week...

I did *NOT* intend to undermine or call into question anybody's runs *with* turbo. What I was trying to do was call out my disagreement with that direction, and to point out the ways that I thought using turbo changes the run. Getting a good SMRPG run will take tremendous skill, luck, and execution - with or without turbo. People are free to disagree with my views, and I appreciated the many comments I got back to that effect - I thought it was a good discussion, generally. If you (or anyone) still wants to run with turbo, and you set goals for yourself with that in mind - then hey, more power to you! Count me among your supporters and as someone who will be proud of you and happy for you when you achieve your goals! Play the way you want to play - not just to fit into someone else's preferred category or definition. (Similarly, I don't have to like the direction others choose to go, either! That's why I wanted to speak out to begin with!)

But, once I read my paste from the perspective that I could be questioning the validity of runs with turbo, I had to take it down. I completely understand why people could have gotten that impression, as some of the analogies and words I used were not helpful. I absolutely do *not* want to undermine others' accomplishments. That's not the kind of person I want to be, and I regret any appearance to the contrary. I haven't had the chance to edit that paste and sanitize it a bit yet, but I didn't want it to stay out there and possibly hurt anyone else's feelings or give the wrong impression of my intentions. I am very sorry it came off that way to begin with.

Now, for a bit of a stream update. I have not been streaming a lot lately, and I will not be streaming much for at least the next few weeks. Several reasons - firstly, for those of you who missed my thinly-veiled announcement on Saturday... my wife is pregnant with our fifth child. Yes. Five. It's a lot. Quite the surprise for us! But she has needed a *lot* more help from me lately, so I've been trying to be there for her more.

And in the coming weeks, we have Thanksgiving, then my sister is getting married - so there's going to be a lot going on with all that. And as for the speedruns themselves... I just can *not* get myself motivated to actually work on them. I got all of the pentathlon games to the place where the only way I'll be able to improve is to practice and work on IL strats. I just really do not feel like doing that right now, as much as I might see the benefit. I've had a ton of fun learning those runs... but now that it's time to work...? Eh... (that, plus I've really been enjoying playing stuff offline on my Switch...)

So all of the above pretty much means no stream. Need a bit of downtime. That's why I've asked anyone who's subbed to me to consider taking their subs elsewhere for now - I just don't feel like you should pay me for content I'm not providing. Also won't be checking Twitter as much, either... though I'll still generally be around. All of that pretty much rules out any chance I'd have of doing the pentathlon in December - but that was going to be a stretch anyway.
