There are times when my disdain for firearms really seems idiotic. This was one of those times.

If you haven’t guessed by now, firefights aren’t my speciality. I’m a big, lumbering target, and that shallow ditch provided little cover. Besides, automatic gunfire doesn’t go unnoticed, even on the outskirts of bumblefuck nowhere. If the security guys didn’t fill me with me with holes, the Elk River Sheriff’s department surely would soon thereafter.
