  1. At one point the villains get covered in donkey poo
  2.
  3. The villains decide to send the Abarangers back in time, and then they realize how bad of an idea that was when they start getting erased from history
  4.
  5. There’s a crocodile clock monster that shows up and then becomes AbareKiller’s manslave for the rest of the series
  6.
  7. There’s a full on, actual Ultraman parody where Ultraman turns out to be evil. This happened because Ultraman started airing again and was stealing Sentai’s ratings.
  8.
  9. There’s a parasaur mech that speaks almost entirely in spanish.
  10.
  11. There’s a giraffe make-up rafflesia monster that uses its make up to turn people into rafflesia flowers. This episode is entire focused around comic relief girl trying to get away with a lie to her parents
  12.
  13. It is HEAVILY implied, if not outright STATED that the main villain, Dezumozorlya, raped and brainwashed a woman. Dezumozorlya is a big bulb with tentacles.
  14.
  15. The backstory of the series is that, when the meteor hit the earth and killed the dinosaurs, it created a parallel earth where the dinosaurs lived. This is literally the backstory to the Super Mario Bros. movie.
  16.
  17. Also somehow this resulted in dinosaurs evolving into robots.
  18.
  19. The Abaranger’s home base is a curry restaurant with a rotating floor that has advanced tracking technology behind it.
  20.
  21. i just learned this while I was writing this but all of the rangers names are puns on the japanese words for different dinosaur eras what the fuck
  22.
  23. In one episode, a centipede monster infects children through TV broadcasts, turning them into psychic super saiyans who have special effects air fights. This actually happens.
  24.
  25. All of the auto-giant monsters in the series are named and based after famous musical compositions. The guy who makes them, Voffa, is named after Wolfgang Amadeus.
  26.
  27. So like, the whole thing with the series is “dino guts”, which is like burning justice but dinosaur themed? Every living thing on the planet has dino guts in them, and that includes other Sentai teams.
  28.
  29. Oh yeah the red ranger is a dad in this. He has a little kid who is around most of the time and is actually cute and is a really good moral center of the show. I guess that’s not really weird
  30.
  31. This is skipping ahead a bit but there’s a bit in the Dekaranger crossover where Abrella just pulls out the Abaranger show guide and makes fun of the monsters? Rude
  32.
  33. The yellow ranger defeats a body swapping monster by convincing it she made a body swapping device out of a rubber hose.
  34.
  35. There’s an entire episode where Mikela and Voffa go to earth to get more inspiration for monsters. This results in them causing comic relief girl to turn into a giant, the both of them to become massively popular with teen girls, and both of them convinced that schoolgirls are the ultimate lifeforms on earth.
  36.
  37. There’s an episode where yellow has to outsmart a hawk pharaoh monster by using scooby-doo disguises. This was apparently iconic enough that the Gokaiger tribute episode consisted entirely of that. And to show how lazy Super Megaforce was, their adaptation of that episode kept it the same, despite the adaptation of the original Abaranger episode being completely different.
  38.
  39. There’s an episode where it turns out that the Abarangers were dreaming that they were the Abarangers… except they were trapped in the dream by the crocodile monster I mentioned earlier… except that was all a dream by the crocodile monster
  40.
  41. Also later it turns out that the curry shop managed to branch out, and the crocodile monster becomes the new manager of it. He’s still alive to this day.
  42.
  43. Dezumozorlya is the second closest Sentai has gotten to full on lovecraftian horrors, and is definitely one of the more abstract.
  44.
  45. There’s a fly monster that grants wishes in the most literal, horrible way possible. This includes a man who wanted to travel around the world, so the monster literally throws him so hard he goes around the entire world
  46.
  47. The blue ranger is a world famous chiropractor. That’s just his character.
  48.
  49. So the black ranger and one of the villains, Jeanne, who I mentioned earlier, were a couple before she got raped and brainwashed. She was pregnant when she got captured by Dezumozorlya, and her fetus was corrupted into another one of the villains. The ghost of the potential child shows up at several points to help guide the Abarangers.
  50.
  51. The lady villains from Hurricanger didn’t actually die when they exploded, but were sent to the dinosaur earth where they joined Abaranger’s villains. They’re completely incompetent though so they get kicked out. The last we see of them is being chased by a sand worm. They got eaten by the sand worm.
  52.
  53. There’s an episode where a dream-granting monster disguises itself as a boat so that people who come on will be eaten by it while pretending they’re in their greatest fantasy. You actually do see the people being digested alive in the whiles, completely unaware of it and its terrifying.
  54.
  55. That episode’s A-plot is that the triceratops mech wants to be a real boy and gets turned into a human. This is unrelated to the wish granting monster.
  56.
  57. So the entire plot of the Dekaranger crossover is that the villains go through all this effort to perform a ritual to release the strongest denizen in hell. They wanted to get Dezumozorlya, but they got AbareKiller instead.
  58.
  59. Since Abaranger is canon to every other Sentai, that means that AbareKiller was stronger than any other villain or hero that died. This is canon.
  60.
  61. Also the villains don’t seem to realize how bad of an idea summoning eldritch other dimensional plant satan is. Like this crime boss just wants him to be his general and boy is that not gonna work out
  62.
  63. There’s a monster named Reindeiasanta, which is a reindeer and santa monster mixed with hemp which is hilarious. He actually turns out to be super dangerous and turns a bunch of people into the footsoldiers of the season, which ends up playing a big part in the final arc.
  64.
  65. The main villain of the Abaranger movie ends up being a monster in a person costume.
  66.
  67. Also, the headquarters of the TV station that airs Super Sentai is a major plot point in the film. Because.
  68.
  69. AbareKiller’s death is genuinely one of the best handled deaths in Sentai history. It’s remarkably poignant and reflective.
  70.
  71. It turns out that Kruger was a regular at the curry place when he first came to Earth. I guess this means that aliens have been around for a while?
  72.
  73. The stegosaurus mech joins up with Abarekiller because of its horrible anxiety.
  74.
  75. Bear with me on this one. So, there's an episode that crosses over with an obscure fishing anime. The villains decide to make a monster that will turn people into olives because it reminds them of a really delicious fruit on dinosaur earth. They make a fishing monster to catch people, but he somehow manages to catch the main character of the anime's son WHILE the show is airing. The main character of the anime asks the Abarangers for help, because he and his son watch their show every week, which parallels Red and his daughter watching that show every week. At the end of the episode, the fisherman comes out of the TV to help deal the finishing blow. The entire experience is mindblowing.
