Social Media Alternatives (& Software)

Bitchute's problem is, sadly, quality control. Not enough people use it for you to build your own feed of good, relatable content. But that's no excuse not to at least make an account and use it as much as possible. Things grow, just takes time.

YT has tons of excellent quality videos, but they censor everything that isn't consumerist escapism or leftist. So you actually have an extremely difficult time finding anything informative unless you already know where to look. You can't even search for independent sources on conspiracy or fringe related subjects, because all you get are "DEBUNKED" CNN, Vice, MSNBC, Fox, mainstream bullshit legacy dreck.

Duckduckgo is alright but sometimes I worry if it's been compromised. Otherwise it simply lacks functionality I've grown accustomed to. I still use it over google, except when I'm using data instead of wifi --- sprint fucking THROTTLES duckduckgo so that it gives me a timeout error, meanwhile google loads snappy and fine. It's bullshit and Sprint are corrupt fucking crooks regardless, for other reasons.

Voat would be a SOLID alternative to reddit, but unfortunately its servers can't handle much traffick. Reddit is, like YouTube, completely unusable unless you are a leftist or looking for consumerist escapism. Not that escapist entertainment is a BAD thing, but people have substituted it for knowing anything real. And legacy media might as well be fictional escapism, except worse, because it pretends to be non-fiction.

I haven't used ProtonMail but I'm considering making an account right now. I feel a bit of a hypocrite for still using Gmail in 2019; I should know better lmfao. We all should.

I'm pretty unfamiliar with the rest. I've heard of gab.ai, haven't heard of minds.com, infogalactic, Aptoide, libre office, or subscribestar.

But this is a handy list to have, and these platforms have nowhere to go but up.

Support freedom and at least contribute a little bit of traffick to these sites. If everyone contributes a little bit of time, they will all evolve into proper platforms overnight.

The alternative is to get censored, brainwashed, lied to, and spied on. I know it's hard to care about if you don't involve yourself in anything controversial, but this is bigger than the individual's needs of the immediate present. It already effects you by manipulating your views, and it's going to be directly bothersome to everyone eventually.
