[16:14] <Kilarra> -Session 27-
[16:15] <Kilarra> Zincher, after having the enchantment placed over him by a Drow broken by Kilarra, has willfully shown the party the path to some hidden sea caves under the island where the drow have been hiding out. This also confirms their presence here in the now, as opposed to all previous signs pointing to them having vacated the island.
[16:16] * Kilarra looks down the cliff face, "That's pretty steep." She looks to her hand, on which Depora's ring sat, "Good think I knicked this, huh?"
[16:19] * Aluthyra nods, frowning at the steep drop.  "Quite fortunate, yes." She looks to Kjell. "Do you wish to lead, or shall I?"
[16:21] <Kilarra> Kjell nods, "I think I should lead. You have quicker reflexes, so if I fall, you'd be better suited to catch me than the reverse."
[16:21] * Kilarra slips to the back of the lineup, "I'm still reeling from that Wraith. I'm gonna keep to the back for now."
[16:22] * Kilarra notes, "I'd really prefer not to get killed until I've at least had the satisfaction of taking care of a few of the drow responsible for the reprehensible state of this island."
[16:23] * Aluthyra nods. "Lead on then, Kjell." She looks back to Kilarra and frowns. "You will not die, just tread carefully."
[16:24] <Aluthyra> Tognik grabs his curing wand from his quiver, taking up point from behind Aluthyra.
[16:25] * Kilarra smirks and winks at the sexy, not-quite-human lady
[16:26] <Kilarra> Kjell begins heading down the path slowly. It was a bit steep, but not so steep as to require any special mountaineering skills to traverse, provided they moved slowly.
[16:27] * Aluthyra follows, keeping her bow at the ready for any sign of the Drow.
[16:32] <Kilarra> Kjell reaches the bottom of the path first, ending up on a slightly wider landing area, with just enough room that they didn't have to stay in single file for the moment. "Aluthyra, when you get down here, have a loot with those keen eyes of yours. See if you can find something. I don't see any obvious ways in."
[16:34] * Aluthyra nods, reaching Kjell's side a moment later. As she does, she examines the area for any sign of an entry point.
[16:37] <Kilarra> ALuthyra's eyes are keen indeed, as not only does she spot the subtle shift in the rock indicating a door worked into the stone, she also spies the tiny glyph etched therein.
[16:38] * Aluthyra raises an eyebrow, pointing a finger to the glyph. "Would any of you know what that is?" She frowns. "I would hate for us to walk into a trap."
[16:38] <Aluthyra> Tognik blinks, scurrying forward to take a look. After a quick inspection, he casts a detect magic spell on the glyph.
[16:39] * Kilarra steps forward, following Aluthyra's finger. She quickly casts Detect Magic. "Yeah, it's a glyph of... something." SHe looks back, "You know how to disable traps gnomey?"
[16:40] <Aluthyra> Tognik certainly does! He moves closer to the glyph, attempting to disable it.
[16:42] <Kilarra> Tognik identifies the glyph as one of warding, set to trigger when someone opens the door. However, he finds it beyond his ability to disable with any haste.
[16:45] <Aluthyra> Tognik frowns and continues to work at disabling the device.
[16:49] <Kilarra> After a good couple minutes of work, Tognik finally manages to short out the magical glyph.
[16:51] <Aluthyra> Tognik grins. "Finally!" He wipes his brow, looking to Kjell. "Can you hold some of my things? Carrying all of this stuff isn't doing me any favors."
[16:53] <Kilarra> Kjell nods, "I most certainly can little Red." He shifts his pack and makes it available for Tognik to lighten his load.
[16:55] <Aluthyra> Tognik smiles, placing his trail rations, waterskin, bedroll, and eight alchemist's fire potions in Kjell's pack.
[16:55] * Kilarra rolls her eyes at the nicknaming, but waits for them to finish up. She idly picks a couple small stones from between the digits of her left hoof.
[16:59] * Aluthyra waits for the two to finish, then points a finger to the door within the stone./
[17:00] <Kilarra> Kjell nods and pulls the door open.
[17:02] * Kilarra draws his sword quickly just in case and steps inside first.
[17:02] <Kilarra> *Kjell
[17:03] * Aluthyra steps inside behind, aiming her bow forward.
[17:03] <Aluthyra> Tognik steps in after, trying to enter sneakily.
[17:04] <Kilarra> Water drips down along the walls of this damp cavern. The cave itself is cluttered with bits of rubble and debris, much of which seems to be from a strange, blackened form of rock quite different in appearance from the rock that makes up the walls of the cavern. The ceiling slopes up to the north, from a height of about ten feet near the southern exit to a height of twenty-five feet to the north.
[17:05] <Kilarra> Upon entering, Kjell immediately spots a pair of drow guards along the east wall of the cave, one on the north end and one on the south. Both immediately spot Kjell and Aluthyra as well, with the sudden burst of light flooding the chamber.
[17:12] * Kilarra smirks as she enters the cavern and sees the slightly dazed drow, "Caught them with their pants down. Finish 'em quick before they can get reinforcements."
[17:14] <Kilarra> Kkell points to the far one, "Aluthyra, get him before he can move. I'll take care of the close one."
[17:17] * Aluthyra fires a flurry of three arrows at the farthest target, her first firing with extreme precision.
[17:20] <Kilarra> The first arrow hits the drow hard enough to throw him against the far stone wall, impaled right through the throat. The second and third shots simply make his corpse a pincushion.
[17:21] * Kilarra grins, "Atta girl." That was brutal. She liked it.
[17:22] <Kilarra> Kjell moves quickly to secure the room by clearing out the other guard. He moves up to attacking range, swinging his sword, which crackles with a slight electrical charge as he channels a spell through it.
[17:29] <Kilarra> Kjell's blade strikes true, but his spell fizzles against the magically resistant dark elf.
[17:30] <Kilarra> The drow takes a nasty blow from Kjell's enchanted sword, even though the magic was ineffective
[17:34] * Kilarra doesn't think she can kill the guy with her Crossbow, and knows her whip wouldn't be any good outside of tripping, which seemed pointless after the wound Kjell gave him. Instead, she moves up after seeing his spell fizzle and decides to test their mettle for herself, and to see how she might best help the rest of the group in further conflicts here.
[17:36] * Kilarra places her hand on the drow and attempts to pump him full of negative energy, only for her magic to fizzle out as well. She growls at the dark elf
[17:39] * Tognik holds, ready to cast a spell of grease if the Drow somehow manages to remove himself from Kjell's range.
[17:40] <Kilarra> The drow himself does not like his chances, but he knows if he stays there, he'll be killed without anyone knowing. He decides to risk taking a run for it.
[17:41] <Kilarra> Kjell takes a swing at the drow attempting to flee as he leaves his back exposed
[17:41] <Kilarra> Kjell manages to cut the drow down before her can get away from the stout magus.
[17:43] <Aluthyra> Tognik smiles. "Good work." He looks towards the drow. "Huh. I'm glad I hopped on board your boat."
[17:44] <Kilarra> Kjell looks to Tognik, "Did we not explain to you... oh! You were napping on top of the deck while we had lunc hwit hthe Captain and shared our story."
[17:44] <Kilarra> *lunch with
[17:45] * Tognik raises an eyebrow and chuckles. "I guess that would have been a good conversation to be in on."
[17:45] * Aluthyra moves closer while the two talk, examining the two bodies for any items of use.
[17:48] <Kilarra> Each drow fighter has a masterwork chain shirt, a masterwork small steel shield, a masterwork rapier and a masterwork hand crossbow, as well as ten bolts each.
[17:48] * Kilarra swoops in and adds the bolts to her own collection, not that she used them much, but better safe than sorry
[17:49] <Kilarra> Kjell doesn't find any of their equipment more effective than what he already posesses, and looks around instead at where they could go from here.
[17:50] * Aluthyra frowns and looks to Kjell. "I would not be able to carry this, and selling it may be worth the effort. Would you be able to carry it all?"
[17:50] <Kilarra> There ate two potential paths out of the entrance chamber, one along the western wall and another to the northeast
[17:51] <Kilarra> Kjell chuckles, "I suppose a stout man like me should have expected pack-mule duty." He collects the items into his pack
[17:53] * Aluthyra shrugs. "I thank you nonetheless."
[17:55] * Aluthyra moves towards the two paths. "Tognik and I could explore each, quietly, then come back with which would be the correct one to take, if you three are not opposed."
[17:55] <Aluthyra> Tognik nods. "I could do that, sure."
[17:56] * Kilarra nods, "Just be careful."
[17:57] * Aluthyra smiles. "Of course." She then proceeds quietly down the western path.
[17:58] <Aluthyra> Tognik stoops low, proceeding quietly down the northeast.
[17:59] <Kilarra> To the Northeast, Tognik discovers only a collapsed tunnel, presumably felled by the recent tremors or the starfall itself. However, to his right he can spot a wooden barricade with spidery runes written on it.
[18:01] <Aluthyra> Tognik frowns, mumbling, "Another trap?" He shakes his head, turning back to inform the group.
[18:02] <Kilarra> The the west, ALuthyra can spy only a chamber filled with unnatural darkness
[18:02] <Aluthyra> Before Tognik leaves, he checks the rune, casting detect magic and attempting to identify it.
[18:03] * Aluthyra frowns, stopping for a moment to attempt to see through the darkness.
[18:05] <Kilarra> The runes on the wall, though in a language Tognik doesn't speak, carry a spell of silence on the room beyond.
[18:06] * Tognik goes back to the to his other companions, informing them, "Some sort of baricade that way, along with a magic rune." He shrugs. "It's not in a language I'm familiar with."
[18:08] <Kilarra> ALuthyra can see through the deeper darkness with only a modicum of success, spying the outline of a hideous creature seemingly made of the shadows itself, with nasty claws and tendrils of shadow, as well as a pair of pitch black wings
[18:08] * Kilarra waits for Aluthyra to come back
[18:10] * Aluthyra quirks head, looking at the creature and attempting to identify it while slowly moving back, not wanting to be caught alone.
[18:12] <Kilarra> The shadowy form notices ALuthyra, and begins to move towards her, but as soon as she steps into the natural daylight spilling into the chamber, it backs up.
[18:13] * Kilarra looks to Aluthyra, "What's up there?"
[18:14] * Aluthyra frowns, shaking her head. "Some kind of creature... I am not sure what. It seems to be made of shadows." She sighs in relief. "It saw me, but luckily it seems to have a weakness to light and did not follow me out."
[18:15] * Kilarra looks relieved. "So, we have a shadow beasty, or something that the drow were scared of enough to seal inside a magical barricade." She looks around, "I don't know about you, but I feel lucky. Perhaps, if we let it out, whatever they sealed in would be willing to help us, or at least go for some revenge of its own."
[18:16] <Kilarra> Kjell raises an eyebrow, "The enemy of our enemy isn't necessarily going to be our friend."
[18:18] <Aluthyra> Tognik raises an eyebrow. "You think that shadow beast might react negatively to a spell creating light?"
[18:18] * Kilarra looks to Kjell, "Would you rather face another thing like the Wraith from last night without at least trying to get some help?" SHe looks to ALuthyra, wondering what she thought
[18:20] * Aluthyra frowns. "Help /would/ be appreciated... but we are not sure if it will do that. I would be willing to give it to chance, but only if all of you are willing."
[18:20] <Kilarra> Kjell keeps his sword out, "I would be willing to try, but with caution."
[18:21] <Aluthyra> Tognik nods. "Sure. Let's give it a go."
[18:22] * Kilarra smirks, "Lead on then, magic man."
[18:23] <Kilarra> Kjell shrugs that off and heads up the passage Tognik indicated, stopping in front of the barrier. He feels it a bit, testing its sturdiness.
[18:23] * Kilarra uses detect magic himself as well
[18:24] * Aluthyra readies her bow, standing behind Kjell. If whatever is behind the barrier is hostile, she will shoot it.
[18:24] <Kilarra> *Kjell does
[18:24] <Aluthyra> Tognik readies a spell, standing beside Aluthyra..
[18:25] <Kilarra> Kjell nods, "This barricade is silencing the occupant, which, I think... remember what Josper said about the legend of the siren's curse?"
[18:26] <Aluthyra> Tognik raises an eyebrow. "That it may be the siren?"
[18:28] <Kilarra> Kjell nods, "I can think of few other things we know of that might be such a threat to the drow." He looks to Tognik, "Siren's are intelligent at least, so perhaps the one with the most silvered tongue should go first once I break this barricade down."
[18:29] <Aluthyra> Tognik nods. "I can try if you'd like."
[18:30] <Kilarra> Kjell brings us his sword, and begins slashing at the barricade
[18:32] <Kilarra> Kjell manages to smash through the wodden barricade after five swings of his sword...
