- It was about a week into Addie’s stay at Rayas’s house. Her apartment was still hazardous for any insects to enter because of the feral termite fumigation, so she was sleeping at Rayas, Hayden, and Cedar’s place. Part of her enjoyed spending more time with her friends, although sleeping on an air mattress in the game room wasn’t particularly pleasant. She had to be extra careful with her bug scythes as to not pop it.
- More importantly, Addie had to adjust to not being in control of everything in the house. Cedar and especially Rayas were annoyed at Addie’s habit of over-cleaning and getting onto everyone else. Even Hayden, far and away the nicest of the bunch, made a few snide comments here and there about not being able to find his things after Addie reorganized his room for him.
- Hayden had bought two tickets for a local football game, which Cedar reluctantly agreed to go with him after Hayden offered to buy dinner afterwards. The two were getting ready to leave, Hayden dressed in his black and red jersey and even adorning a bit of facepaint. Cedar borrowed one of Hayden’s sports hoodies, since Cedar didn’t have any game attire herself. The two were most likely going to be gone for the whole day, leaving Addie and Rayas by themselves.
- “Woo! Go Cards!” Hayden shouted as he walked out the door.
- Cedar rolled her eyes and turned back to Addie and Rayas, who were both sitting on the couch in the living room watching TV.
- “This dinner better be worth it, y’all know how much I don’t care about football. I didn’t even know our team’s name until last week. Later.”
- Addie and Rayas waved Cedar goodbye as she closed the door behind her. The two knew they’d be by themselves for most of the day, but didn’t bother making plans. The girls just sat there for a while, lazily glancing at the TV. Rayas crumpled up her finished bag of Funyuns and gently tossed it at the ground. Almost instinctively, Addie got up from the couch and picked up the empty bag to throw away to the kitchen.
- “I knew you were gonna do that,” Rayas smirked as Addie sat back down on the couch.
- “Huh? Do what?” Addie responded, genuinely unaware as to what she was referring to.
- “Ya know, pick up my trash. You can’t let a bit of trash sit there for even a minute.”
- Addie rolled her eyes. “I could have left it there if I wanted to, I just felt like you needed to be reminded the floor isn’t your personal trash can, that’s all.”
- Rayas laughed a bit. “Whatever you say, but face it Addie, you’re a little obsessed with cleaning, I mean, you need to let loose a little. Like me.”
- Rayas let out a small toot after she finished talking, really taking her “letting loose” advice to heart.
- Addie’s nose scrunched up a bit. “Okay, you know what? Maybe I will. In fact…”
- Addie left the couch and grabbed a box from the other side of the room before returning and setting the box on the floor in front of Rayas. The box was filled with vials of brownish-green liquid, each corked up to prevent spilling.
- “I found this box while cleaning the other day, looks like it’s an old box of stink cloud potions to me. Why don’t I just drink one? That way we can both stink up the entire house.”
- Addie had no plans to actually drink the potion, she just hoped that the threat of turning herself into a stink cloud was enough to get Rayas to shut up for a bit. Instead, however, Rayas simply burst into laughter.
- “You?! As a FART CLOUD?! Now that I gotta see! Go on, I dare ya!” Rayas excitedly said.
- Addie internally was extremely hesitant and afraid to drink it, but she didn’t want to let Rayas know she was bluffing. After contemplating it for a split second, she decided the potions were probably so old that they didn’t even work anymore, and removed the cork. The liquid already had a horrendous odor that made both the girls cover their noses, leading Addie to try to back out of it.
- “Are you sure you want the whole house to smell like this? I mean, I’ll probably change back before Hayden and Cedar get home, and they’ll obviously blame you. They’re not gonna believe you if you say I turned myself into a stink cloud,” Addie hesitantly said.
- “Aha! I knew you were too much of a clean freak to actually drink that thing,” Rayas smugly announced, still holding her nose with her paw.
- “That’s what you think!” Addie impulsively put the vial up to her mouth and took a tiny sip before attempting to spit it out, both due to the incredibly sour taste and out of realization at what she’d just done.
- Rayas had a huge grin on her face. “Oh man, I didn’t think you had it in ya Addie! But one drop’s all you need, enjoy spending the next couple of hours or so as a fart!”
- Addie put the cork back in and tossed the potion back in the box beside her, she didn’t feel any different yet.
- “Well, the joke’s on you, because I feel fine, must’ve expired I guess. Oh well, that’s too ba-” Addie was interrupted by a loud FRRRPPT noise escaping from her behind.
- Rayas kept chuckling. “Excuse you! Now what was it you were trying to say?”
- Addie blushed heavily as she farted once again, just as loudly as the first time. Addie was too embarrassed to say anything in response, she just kept farting in front of an amused Rayas. With each blast of gas, she felt herself getting more and more light-headed. She began to lose sensation in her legs, and had to fight to keep herself from falling over. However, her legs eventually gave in as she suddenly collapsed to the ground.
- Rayas looked concerned but knew that this was part of the process. She watched as her friend’s legs began slowly disappearing, fading into a thin layer of murky light brown gas. The haze of gas enveloped the rest of her body, all the while loud and wet fart noises erupted from… well, somewhere. The rest of Addie faded away into the thickening and darkening fog, until nothing remained but a cloud of brown stink gas and a pile of the clothes she wore.
- Rayas stared at the now silent cloud that was floating in front of her with wide eyes. “Wow Addie, that’s really still you huh? Fart twice if you can understand me.”
- “Frrrrt prrt,” Addie reluctantly responded, still getting used to her gaseous form.
- “I still can’t believe you actually did that, I was wrong about you Addie, you really do know how to let loose!” Rayas enthusiastically said.
- “Prrlppttt.”
- Addie floated around towards the boxes of potions, hoping there was an antidote of sorts hidden within them. Although she couldn’t do much digging through the box in her current state anyway.
- “You’re looking for an antidote over there, aren’t you Addie? Well, I wouldn’t worry too much about that. Considering you probably only got down a drop or two at most, it’ll wear off in a couple of hours. You might as well enjoy it while you still can, though.”
- Addie flew into Rayas’s face and made a loud fart sound, annoyed at Rayas’s commentary.
- “Ack, not like that! You fucking reek girl!” Rayas shouted as she tried to fan Addie away.
- Addie let out a tiny “prrt” as if to scoff, before moving away, choosing to continue floating midair next to Rayas.
- “Ugh, you’re just gonna fart right next to me the whole time, aren't you?”
- “Brrrt!” Addie responded with a slightly louder fart.
- “Whatever. Let’s just go back to watching TV I guess,” Rayas said while putting her paw back up to her nose.
- The two spent the next three hours trying to entertaining themselves with Addie’s cloud form. Rayas came up with a game that Addie would loudly fart after a character on television bent over or at random times that caused Rayas to howl with laughter. Addie thought it was incredibly immature, but played along because it’s not like she had anything else to do.
- The unexpected sound of the doorbell ringing startled them until both Rayas and Addie heard Hayden excitedly yelling from outside.
- “Heh, looks like Hayden and Cedar are home! Guess they’re gonna see what you look like right now, huh Addie?”
- Addie quickly zoomed in the game room, not wanting Hayden and Cedar to see her like this. Rayas, meanwhile, strutted to the door eager to tell her returning roommates what happened.
- “Oh come on Ray, what did you eat, girl?!” Hayden immediately covered his nose as he stepped into the house. The stench of Addie’s earlier farting and floating around the room enveloped the whole house.
- “Actually, it wasn’t me. It was Addie. She turned herself into a fart cloud!” Rayas proudly exclaimed.
- “Yeah right, and I scored the winning touchdown,” Cedar responded. Cedar and Hayden immediately started giggling to themselves.
- “I’m serious! Why don’t you go back to the game room and take a look for yourself?”
- Rayas led the two to the game room where Addie was. Rayas was so sure of herself that she opened the door without bothering to even look inside.
- “See, look for yourselves!”
- Hayden and Cedar entered the room to find Addie standing in front of them, miraculously returned as an insect. Although her outfit was a mismatch of the nearest clothes she could find.
- Despite this, Addie confidently greeted both of them. “Oh hey, welcome home y’all, sorry about the stink in the living room. Rayas was farting up a storm in there, so much so that I’m afraid to even light an incense. Could burn the whole house down with how much methane is in the air.”
- The three of them roared with laughter, Addie thankful the potion’s effects wore off just in time. Addie snuck back into the living room to hide the box of potions while Hayden and Cedar were distracted. Rayas, meanwhile, looked on in both confusion and resentment.
- “Wh- but you were- she was a fart cloud a minute ago! I swear! There’s a whole box of the potions in the living room! I’ll show you!”
- Rayas guided Hayden and Cedar back to the living room while they all held their breath, not wanting to get a whiff of the foul-smelling air. Addie had quickly stowed away the box in a corner of the room knowing that nobody wanted to stay long enough to investigate.
- “Yeah I don’t see no box, the joke was funny but give it a rest and admit you stunk up the place. It ain’t the first time it’s happened,” Hayden said, starting to get annoyed.
- Addie smugly looked at Rayas as Hayden and Cedar walked off into their rooms and the attic respectively.
- Rayas slumped back down on the couch in annoyance while Addie went back to her room to grab two cans of air freshener. She came back to the living room and placed the cans next to Rayas.
- “Yeah, they’re not gonna believe you. I’m still gassy too, and I might as well let ‘em rip while it still smells here. Not like Cedar and Hayden will think it was me,” Addie purposely forced out a loud and long PRRRRRFFFFT right in front of Rayas’s face.
- Rayas was about to say something when Cedar quickly rushed down from the attic ladder.
- “You think with my bat ears I wouldn’t be able to hear a fart that loud? Plus I heard what you said and I’m telling Hayden!”
- Addie turned a bright crimson. She was too busy rubbing it in Rayas’s face that she had forgotten about Cedar’s echolocation that allowed her to hear most conversations from the living room.
- Cedar felt bad for not believing Rayas. “Unless of course, you agree not to mess with our stuff.”
- “Okay! Whatever you want just, don’t let Hayden or anybody else know, okay?!” Addie flusteredly responded as she sat next to Rayas on the couch, still blushing.
- Cedar headed back to the attic, promising not to tell Hayden anything.
- Rayas smiled and grabbed a chocolate bar from the kitchen, purposely throwing the wrapper on the floor. She’d pick it up later, but for now she just wanted to relax.
