  1. Well, long story short, he was of a peasant family with loving parents... who were guards of the royal hatchery. Before Orca's statue was discovered.
  2. You can guess the rest there.
  3. Grew up mistrusted and considered of "traitor's blood", he tried to be above it... but there was no respite from it. Ever.
  4. He grew up alone and grew to truly despise Queen Coral.
  5. But he tried his best to rise through the ranks, but everyone basically stayed away from him, while he thought about how his parents died, not even buried in mark graves...
  6. Until one guard near him had the lip to speak of how great Queen Coral was, an lickspittle boot-licker.
  7. And what I'm wondering is... would it be better if he killed that guard in a fit of rage or just nearly killed them?
  8. I sort of think nearly killing them too, but at the same time, RED Coarse Crab has killed dragons.
  9. Admittedly, it might work better this way as an escalation, as Crab ends up getting embroiled in the piracy era afterwards, unable to work for Coral, but finding work with an era of anti-establishment dragons who want to bloody Coral's snout.
  10. The way I see it: Crab thinks you don't get anywhere with good feelings and loyalty when the establishment will hate you and consider you with contempt over something you had no control over.
  11. And whether he killed or not that first guard, he knew he would always get condemned for it, regardless of extenuating circumstances.
  12. And I imagine the pirates he ended up joining with fed into that, power through extreme violence.
  13. But yeah, he ended up running away from the Kingdom of Sea after that first guard, and left to go with either Vargrim's gang or a gang of SeaWing pirates, then Vargrim's gang.
  14. Who then fed into his reputation and character development through making him a bloodier dragon, letting him accumulate a red name for himself.
  15. And he has a ulterior motive for helping out Vargrim's gang down the line.
  16. Help King Vargrim I get his crown? Point him to the Kingdom of Sea and invade.
  17. Stab Queen Coral's heart with a spear and end her.
  18. Mind you, that's going to end up with a ton of innocent SeaWing casualties too...
  19. But I don't think Crab much cares. Not like they cared for his innocence.
  20. But, at the very least, he's there to tell Ylgrin that royalty fucks everyone over, no matter the place.
  21. And that the Ice Kingdom is no special demon in terms of corruption and assholery. Everywhere sucks.
