- MUSIC FOR THE END OF MUSIC FOR THE END OF THE WORLD: ULTIMATE MILLENNIUM PLATINUM EDITION UPDATE [s]how many more words can I tack on[/s]
- 1000 tracks! As well as that, a HUGE overhaul in customization options. After this update, MFTEOTW will receive no more new music; if ever I return to adding more music to the game via True Music, which seems unlikely, it'll be in the form of separate expansion mods to avoid inflating the file size of this mod any further.
- This mod likely will still receive maintenance updates and, maybe, if I think of any, new features. I've been working on this mod for over half a year, and I'm happy to have finally brought it to this point. For a lot of this mod's lifespan, getting to and stopping at 1000 tracks was the goal, and we've finally made it!
- Thank you to everyone who helped me with this mod; Albion without whom much of this mod wouldn't have worked, Alphadin whose regex made the new systems I added possible to implement in a reasonable fashion, Corvo for getting me into making this mod in the first place, and Tsar for making True Music. Thank you to all of the helpful commenters who reported bugs and requested songs, and thank you to everyone who has some fun with this mod.
- I hope that it will continue to bring life and fun to folks' Project Zomboid runs for a long time to come!
- Oh, and, sorry this update contains so much 80s Japanese pop--I just found so many good songs for it. I guess a City Pop fad swept Knox County just before the apocalypse, eh? It's hard to resist those basslines!
- Without further ado...
- - Removed the Silent Hill tracks from the Home Labelled branch and migrated them to their own branch, MUSIC FOR THE END OF THE WORLD: SILENT HILL (MusicfortheEndSH). This comes with some new tracks, and replacement tracks to even out the number of Home Labelled ones.
- - Completely reworked the sandbox settings for this mod. Now, all sandbox settings are handled within a separate and required pack called Music for the End of the World: Options, or MusicfortheEndOP. This comes with a new way of handling the loot distribution. Now, instead of having the music items spread across four distinct loot pools depending on which packs you had enabled, the game will detect which packs you have and then add them all to the loot pool, mixing them all together. This trades the ability to customize the rarities of individual packs for a more streamlined and efficient system that produces more natural loot patterns.
- This new page of options includes a whole host of new ways to customize your experience with MFTEOTW. This includes enabling the ability to set cassette and vinyl weights, determine how they appear when placed (for instance, if a vinyl is stood up, slanted, or flat when placed), the weight of boomboxes, and the rate at which boomboxes and vinyl players consume power from their respective sources.
- The new Options menu also offers a new mode. It is now possible to set the mods to Blank Mode, which will take all cassettes and vinyls (from this pack as well as base True Music) in the game and rename them to Unlabelled Cassette and Vinyls. For this mode to really be viable, Rename Everything from Mx's Quality of Life Pack is required so that you can label items yourself after confirming what they are.
- - Added an option that allows the game to spawn Boxed Cassette Collections and Boxed Vinyl Collections. These items spawn very rarely in some containers, but will give 50 random cassettes or vinyls when unpacked. They are guaranteed not to contain duplicates and may contain any music from any MFTEOTW pack that is enabled. This option is on by default, and comes with a separate Sandbox setting that allows you to multiply the spawn rate of the caches.

They can only be acquired by killing zombies, even if cassette drops are otherwise off, as long as you have the Silent Hill pack enabled.
