  11. I went out and bought the compressed air to clean the CO/Smoke detector and it is now going off more than it did before. These are the worst. We are throwing them out.

  18. Bought these a year ago to replace our old wired smoke detector system. I coworker told me about these alarms with the interconnected wireless alarm. I thought the idea was great so I ponyed up the money for these. Approx $55 per unit (pretty costly, but safety is more important) installed them in all three floors of my house and then the sleepless nights started. It was July and it seemed that every other night they would go off. It was always in the middle of the night and while I was still groggy I would have to investigate every units, it also seemed as if the alarms were on different units each night. Never was there any fire or smoke. The units are in areas that previously had firedetectors with no issue, not in dusty areas, not in areas next to supplied air from the Ac or heating, no bugs in the house, basically they were all in optimal conditions for them to work properly without false alarms. I reset the and tried reconnecting them. That did not help. But eventually after a few weeks the problem went away, I think then over the next 10 months we maybe had 2-3 false alarms (sad that i was happy with the occasional false call, by this time). Now, here I am and we are living with the false alarms all the time again. They started again in full force a few weeks ago, the same time of year I had the issues with last year. I am done these things they are junk and I will go out of my way to tell anyone and everyone how bad these things are. So, I mentioned the issues with my alarms to my coworker and he is have similar issues too with false alarms. Looks like Kidde has a junk product on their hands.

  25. Junk, we've had many false alarms. Driving the tenants crazy. I was forced to go to a hardwired system due to new fire codes. That cost $5000 to hire the electrician and then repair the holes in the walls. At $50 each the detectors should be reliable and foolproof. Kiddie you should replace them all at your cost!

  32. I moved into a house that’s full of these alarms. They go off constantly when there’s no smoke in the house. If you dare try to burn an inscent they of off even with windows open.

  40. Had been using this alarm for about six months in my newly renovated bed and breakfast. One particularly humid night it went off -scaring my guests and causing them to assemble on the porch of the historic home.

  67. We moved into a house with these alarms pre-installed. Now it goes off several times a night. The product is dangerous, if we have to take them down (unplug) so we can get good nights sleep. Do not buy this alarm. Also, the company needs to make an acknowledge that either the product design or the product manufacturing effecting some lots were faulty. Our kids and family are done. We are replacing the product.

  82. This is a terrible product. I’m guessing by the time you read this it is too late for you…like it was for me. False alarms that require me to find my ladder and remove the offending detector. What makes me mad was that I bought it because it was one of the more expensive models…I made the bad assumption that it is quality. I’ll do better research next time.

  89. Has gone off several times claiming smoke and not allowing us to turn it off even after we unplug it, absolutely useless as an alarm and only inconveniences the household. I will never buy another kiddie product in my life

  96. Really bad product. I never write reviews but felt compelled to on this. Goes off in the middle of night or day randomly. All false alarms. No rhyme or reason. This was installed by an electrician six months ago and it sucks. Causes sleepless nights.

  103. I bought five units a couple of years ago. I had one faulty unit that kept going off in the middle of the night, no matter how many times I cleaned all five units and reset them. I made multiple calls to customer service (and was promised return calls that never came) before they sent me a new unit. Unfortunately, now I have another one that keeps going off at night. These things are haywire. My house is sealed and I have new windows. My five-year-old sleeps with ear protection and he's scared of "smoke protectors." One of the worst purchases I have ever made.

  110. Replaced all 16 alarms in a 3 story house about a year ago, constantly flagged by issues with some being hyper sensitive. Recently it’s gotten much worse, they completely all go off in unison randomly for 10-15 mins at a time. I’m currently typing this review at 5 in the morning with the only solution loading them all into a box and taped pillows over them. Absolutely ridiculous considering how expensive they are. Kidde should be ashamed considering how every other comment here has had a similar experience

  117. I bought 12 of these to replace all my 10 year old detectors throughout my house. These detectors have been and continue to be a problem since the first week(just over a year ago). They loose connection regularly, even the ones next to my asus 16000axe router(strong router and not dropping internet). I have other devices connected to the router that never drop. These alarms are now going off randomly, in the middle of the night, in the middle of a video call for work, during dinner, whenever they want for no reason. This seems like a class action suit situation to me as the other reviews have similar themes. I'm going to contact Kidde to see what they will do, but this is a nightmare with a family of 5 getting adrenaline rushes randomly for no reason all hours of the day/night.

  124. Our contractor installed 6 P4010. 2 hardwired and 4 wire free. Started chirping after 18 months. Cleaned all units and a few months later they started chirping again. Because they are interconnected I had to take all units down. Big waste of money.

  131. Nothing but problems! We tried blowing canned air and it didn't work. Had to permanently disable one of them!! Switching them all out for a different brand. Don't waste your money.
