The wings and two-leggeds won the race, so they took Red Thunder and the magpie in front of the Thunder- being, who told the magpie that he won the race, and so he was to wear the rainbow. If you kill the magpie now, you will see that the end of the tail is the rainbow. Another power given to the magpie was that it could go as it pleased the year around, whether it was winter, spring, or summer. Red Thunder the Thunder- being presented with a bow and arrow. The Thunder-being told Red Thunder: “With this weapon the tribe shall expand and be mighty. So you go back to your people and teach them to make these bows. Hereafter you can shoot the buffalo.”
