Ark: survival evolved Early Access review

I bought this game on June 6, 2015. Jumped onto an Oceanic Server after giggling at the abominations of avatars you can create if you wish(but setting for a perfectly normal, well-chiseled male with blonde hair) and spawned on the South- Eastern region of the map.

I learned you only want to punch trees long enough to make a stone pickaxe because it hurts. The more resource collecting I did, the hungrier and thirstier that I got. After 3 minutes of gathering basic resources I run into a pack of Dilos and die. I did respan close to where I started however so I got my stuff- and died to the pack again.

Next respawn I did was same zone, different spot. I managed to get to a camp fire with other fellow Aussies- trying to survive on this island. They even gave me meat to stop me from dying next to their camp fire.

I then decided to take my pick axe to a Stegosaurus at level 3 to try and get more meat. This game can be unforgiving at times, but its still awesome.

Wiser- my next respawn had me land near my original spot, I found my way back to the camp where I met the nice fellow who kept me alive- he abandoned the camp, so I set up my own camp a little further- provided food and shelter to other fellow survivors, watched them turn on each other over the 1 hatchet and 6 meat I gave to them both. Another player showed up after I killed the survivor and we started a tribe.

It is now nearly Thursday, our tribe is a good 11 people strong, we have 2 bases, I am building a third, and an out post in between. every night has brought in something new that has kept me pumping nearly 8 hours a day average since I have owned it.

Despite the fact that I had to upgrade my GPU just to play this game above 15fps on anything above minimum settings(R9 270 to R9 290X) and the fact that dinosaurs occasionally float into heaven after you kill them, making it hard to get meat and hide I am loving my first survival game that has stirred the slumbering child within. Smashing bases with trikes and fending off Carnos with naught but a spear is extremely fun and tense.

Not only would I recommend this game to everyone else- I ENCOURAGE them to buy the game and see how an early access game and development team SHOULD be- they patch frequently and are always communicating with us and responding to steam forums feedback and bug complaints
