- The souls poured in, one after another, beaming across the sunless sky. Streaks of light like comets, like falling stars, slowly were subsiding one by one on the empty expanse of space. There was a disco ball hanging seamlessly from the invisible glasslike ceiling that kept this cave separate from the patches of space that surrounded it. With a sudden rush of energy, an electric surge hit the podium at the front of the black crystal floor. In brilliant rainbow hues the devices emerged in front of the blank stares of the now materialized bodies of all that had come to this sacred space. The DJ was here. It was time to dance.
- Slowly, at first, it started. The kick drums pounding the senses of all present like rocks falling onto some desolate moon. Jagged edges of spiked frequencies filled the air. Gently a staccato was resounding all across the room. The melody uplifted the masses, the gods and goddesses that had gathered here to dance. With a jarring rush, and a seeming increase in the tempo, the hard kicks began pressing themselves against the walls of the amphitheater. The sound that the crowd was waiting for spread its tentacles across the galaxy of black vinyl the DJ was spinning and into all of their ear holes.
- Shouts erupted from them all as their bodies started to percolate to the rhythm and their fists lunged up and down into the air. A wide wicked grin was plastered on the DJ’s face. This was his resting place, his sanctuary, and his arena. Here in this sacred hall he brought people joy, euphoria, and ecstasy. The crowd had gathered here tonight for one reason and one reason only, and he was delivering.
- The DJ began pumping his fists in the air also as he allowed himself to be carried away by his own hard sound. Intimately, he knew the track he was spinning. He was aware of its every musical twist and turn. His hands were waving in the air, as if he were some sort of conductor or grand maestro, as the falling action of the melody continued in its ensuing tide from crescendo to crescendo. The sound was flowing from his booth to all of the wonderful souls that were able to make it to this place tonight, and he was well pleased.
- With a flick of his head and a stunning winding of his hands around his wrists, the DJ yelled out to the people and began to do something he had not done in a long time. The stars were appearing in the once empty expanse of space around the dancers in the room. Slowly but surely the space outside of the dome of the ceiling was springing to life. Asteroids flew by. The ground shuddered. And, as if nothing extraordinary was happening, the crowd on the dance floor began to levitate.
- They were all fifteen feet above the black crystal tiles, reflections on the floor in clear view. None of them were scared. They kept dancing, enrapt in the pleasure of the music, and caught in the DJ’s spell. As he moved his arms the crowd moved with them, as if they were all in one rhythm, as one dancer; a monumental moment where the music united them all as one. Slowly they opened up their entranced eyes and looked down at the floor below them. They all saw themselves, uplifted, and realizing they were already flying above the dance floor, just flew away.
- The beams of light that were the pure energy of their souls were sent ricocheting across the stars. The promise of music, euphoria, and the merriment of dance had led these gods and goddesses to this hallowed hall this night, and it was the fulfillment of that promise that was sending them home.
