  1. Would choosing a host that's 1300 miles away be a mistake?
  2. Hello. I was looking at reseller hosting specifically, I found buyshared, which was very cheap. I'm in Minnesota though (they are in Las Vegas) and I was curious if choosing a host that was closer would be prudent.

  15. I tried to do the math on data transfer speeds, and theoretically it doesn't seem like that kind of distance would really add up, but i'm guessing it might in the real world.
  16. With a closer location you gonna have a better ping because it's closer but the distance won't affect transfer speed that much.
  17. Thank you.
  18.
  19. That inspired me to google ping tester and I am estimating 75 ms to Las vegas while the closer ones would have a ping of 25-30. I don't think that is too bad at all.
  20. I don't think you really should focus on the distance because in the long run that really won't matter much. What I think you should focus on is making sure they can offer you exactly what you are looking for.

  23. The latency doesn't make any difference in terms of SEO or page load times. Since it is not noticeable to the human eye, your SEO won't be affected. Google is smarter than this and knows a local business can have websites hosted on a server that is thousands of miles away.
  24.
  25. If you are on a poor server, regardless of how close or far it is, your page load time will be slower and it will affect SEO.
  26. Also, you can use CDNs that will close to your targeted locations.
  27. It makes sense. If the majority of your users are in the USA, checking for a hosting provider in the same country is a good idea.
  28. If you would host your site in a server in australia, it would take very long to load

  31. Thank you.
  32. Distance will addup latency
  33. If you're both in USA it's likely that the difference in load speeds would be negligible.
  34.
  35. In my opinion it's much more important to find a stable service with reliable uptime.
