Whatever spell the nymph was casting, Elspeth didn’t wait to find out. She dived out of the way as tendrils of dark water snaked out of the fountain and lashed at her. She channeled her own magic to stamp the water back into the fountain. But as soon as the nymph’s spell failed, the Nyxborn wolves moved in and drove her closer to the fountain.
