just because you devote your life to criminal activity doesn't mean you're an absolute failure in society. sometimes you can be the smartest person in the room, and jeonghan often is. paired with his thirst for causing mayhem, and concentrated opinions, jeonghan has a brain bigger than his body. though he's no einstein, and he might struggle his way through a world histories test, give him a pencil and tell him to solve a calculus question, and he's the man. to be a fantastic engineer when it comes to bomb creation, you must know your maths and science.

CALCULATING:
jeonghan studies situations very carefully before acting upon any want. if he's going into mission territory, he'll study his surroundings and make sure that exits are available if things go south. then he'll make sure that everyone has a weapon, and that the youngest is doing all right. (the fact that such a youngster is apart of their team makes him nervous sometimes.) it's very hard to catch his eye romantically because he's always pointing out the flaws in people, never seeing the good in people.

hong jeonghan is one terrifying motherfucker. and that isn't a statement to be taken lightly. he can ensue terror into the souls of people who have never felt the emotion of fear once in their lives. jeonghan possess this glare. this glare that is packed full of chilling ice and raging flames all at the same time. one look of this and your knees are shaking, and your breath is releasing in pants. or you stop breathing at all. he has that general effect on people. when in conversation with people outside of his gang, he is stone, and focused on business only. people just know not to cross him, and those stupid enough to don't live to tell the story.

jeonghan is always late on jokes because he's too busy deciding if he wants to laugh or not. and if he does laugh, it's very half-hearted, or a dry chuckle. he doesn't take things as lightly as some people in his gang do, because to him, their lifestyle is not some casual thing. they are criminals, and he believes that he doesn't deserve to laugh and carry on after the things he's done to people.

MYSTERIOUS:

hong jeonghan, born joel hong, was brought into this world as a product of hong youngbae, and lee minah. lee minah, a gorgeous korean woman previously working as a diner server, had been born and raised in san diego, california, only recently moving out to las vegas to be emerged in the fast paced city life and constant shifting cultures. hong youngbae, an intelligent young soldier, recently withheld from training and back in his hometown of vegas. the girl and boy met at a local park when youngbae noticed that minah had the cutest dog in the world (and the most adorable chocolate brown eyes he'd ever seen), and exchanged contact numbers to stay in touch. they began dating soon thereafter. however, things began to become more and more unstable when minah announced to her boyfriend of three years that she was pregnant. with youngbae soon to be deployed once again, this news was more heartbreaking than exciting as he'd have to leave his pregnant wife for over six months. however, youngbae left anyways.

nine months later, a blossoming baby boy with the chubbiest cheeks came bouncing into the world; joel they called him. it was a name granted by his mother as minah found the name to be very unique and suitable to the boy. he was so pure and angelic, little did they know what he'd become. the january morning on which joel was born on was daintily snowing, which was strange for vegas' all year round boiling temperatures. minah saw this as a sign that her son would be one of a kind. and, as we all know, she was correct. in joel's infant years, he was a quiet lad. never screaming really, or throwing fits, usually just staying near to his mother and observing his surroundings. baby hong jeonghan slept quite often, and awoke at late hours in the night. those were the only times in which the baby world cry; loneliness.

into joel's toddler years, he could be seen as a curious boy. choosing to stay indoors, curled into his own body, with a book under his nose. no matter where he was, little eyes scanned the rooms, searching for anything that could quench his constant thirst for knowledge.  that's what joel enjoyed, observing his surroundings and soaking them in like a sponge. but there was something strange about his findings; mother stopped working, and was always at his side, stroking his jet black locks in her bony and frail fingertips. never once letting the boy leer out of her line of vision. joel had always been told when he was younger, hand-in-hand with his mom on the way to school at sickening hours of the early morning, to steer clear of neighborhoods gangs. to keep his head low and eyes glued to the cement pavement. minah had always worried about gangs, but she was always flinching at home. even when no gangsters were around. joel wasn't pleased with this observation. mother was scared of something, and if five year old joel hated one thing, it was seeing his mother tremble in fear while she clutched him at night.

at six is when the announcement came. minah would be having another baby. the great news was celebratory, or at least that's what jeonghan had always seen on tv shows. babies=happy. but minah wasn't happy, in fact, joel always witnessed mother and father fighting about the fact that another baby was on the way. youngbae always scolded her for inviting him to ultrasounds, and he didn't even care about the gender of the baby. youngbae wasn't even in attendance at the birth. but little joel was, and he documented the encounter on paper, with the words "baby siyeon is here!" smacked in the middle of the paper. when he sadly attempted at hanging the childish drawing on the fridge, his father tore the paper drown and ripped it to shreds within his cruel fingertips. minah sent both baby siyeon and joel to grandma lee's after that. they spent three years away from minah and youngbae. joel was nine, siyeon recently three and minah was thrilled to get to hold her babies within her grasp once more. and his parents relationship wasn't so flawed anymore. or at least, it seemed that way.

school is never easy for any kid, especially a kid with such little friends or overall poor social skills. joel wouldn't say he was bullied, but the evil children in the schoolhouse were indeed assholes. when his father announced his sudden base change, and that he would be transferring over to daegu, south korea, joel assumed that this was the fresh start he'd been waiting for. fourteen year old joel packed his bags with zeal and excitement coursing through his veins. but daegu was nothing like he thought it would be. the people looked down upon his family for not being natives, and speaking the language in broken words. it was just as gloomy as vegas. for jeonghan, it was like having so much to say but your words burn behind your lips, as you are aware no one would listen. until he found someone who would; kim myungyoon. a seventeen yet old member of the neighborhood gang.

life sped by, and jeonghan began to realize his knack for gang culture. myungyoon taught him a lot about weaponry, and his slick words vividly described the missions he would go on; killing civilians and rival gangs alike. myungyoon showed jeonghan his tattoo, forever linking him to his gang, and tying him to that lifestyle for the rest of his life. jeonghan couldn't help but crave that. crave a group of people who would be down for each other, killing all the evil like his father (who jeonghan was now aware was beating his mother almost every day), and suddenly, jeonghan wanted to be just like kim myungyoon. a gangster. for the next year of his life would be devoted to doing side jobs for gangs, and delving head first into that life.

one year, and several billon divorce courts later, hong youngbae and lee minah split. this all being thanks to the broken woman taking the advice of her growing children and leaving that horrid man in the dust. jeonghan found his mothers courage to be extremely admirable, and it's the main thing he misses about the woman till this day. due to minah's elegant appearance, it didn't take long for another man to march his way into the woman's destroyed heart and take it over. mending open wounds and kissing away the scars. this man was lee jinyoung. and jeonghan hated him. he hated his perfectly symmetrical face, deep set hazel eyes, and chiseled jawline. he hated how much he cared about his mother, and was always calling her to make sure she was alright. jeonghan thought it was all bullshit. jinyoung would lead the wounded dove in and then permanently break her wings. when jinyoung gave her a dainty, yet glowing promise ring, and asked minah to stay with him forever, jeonghan couldn't help but wonder why his mother had to be so naively stupid. but for once, jeonghan wouldn't let his mother get hurt. never again. ever. so, he had to stop this madness before it got out of hand by using the only thing he knew how; violence. and his family shatters like weak glass after that. [see 'reason in gang' section before continuing or you'll be very confused].

hong jeonghan's story is a sad one, but he absolutely refuses to let to make him weak.

strengths :

EXPLOSIVES: jeonghan is an intelligent young man. hand him a knife, or gun and he can cause some trouble, but hand him the essentials and he can create his own homemade hand grenade. he takes such pride in his craft as one would when creating an artful masterpiece, or belting out the most beautiful of melodies. jeonghan believes what he does is artistic and expressionistic. especially when to detonating one of his little creations. watching the fire raise into a black cloud of putrid smoke is one his favorite pastimes.

BLADES OF ALL SIZES: jeonghan enjoys close range combat just as much as he enjoys causing havoc from miles away. he likes being up close and personal with his victims, and watching their faces contort into absolute terror when his blade pushes through their skin. katana, machete, butcher knife, butter knife, anything and everything jeonghan will use to take down his opponent.

DESIRABILITY: he is a king when it comes to making people want him. no, making people feel like they need him. they need jeonghan in their lives, or they'll disintegrate. he has the ability to plant his chip of desire into their brains and leave it there to rot his victims mind.

LOVED ONES: the people that he holds dearest to his heart are the ones that will one day cause his demise. the fact that he loves more than he hates makes him weak. it makes him easily moldable, and naive at points. on his weakest days, he'll get vivid daydreams about his mother or sister that will completely drag him out of reality and place him in some sort of daze. when seeing his personal psychologist about this issue he informed jeonghan that it was because he was so mentally damaged by what his biological father did to his mother that it still affects him in small spurts.

ALCOHOL: it's the one thing that once he starts, he can't stop. jeonghan can push away many feelings; love, remorse, anxiety, anything really, but the one thing that makes him go crazy his liquor. bittersweet liquor. the environment that comes along with alcohol is what makes him even more fragile, so he tries to steer clear of those situations.

HONG JEONGHAN: depression haunts him like a dark cloud of rain that just never comes. hatred of himself for what he did to the women in his life that did nothing but love and care for him. some days, he sits alone in his room and stares off into the abyss at nothing in particular. but his mind is swarming with shameful memories. jeonghan can never bring himself to hate himself for the crimes he has committed to civilians or other gang members, he can only feel regret towards his family. and that makes him weak.

DECEPTION: one minute he's an absolute gentleman; pulling out your chair, buying you expensive clothing, saying all the right things. then the next minute he's got you tied to a chair and is killing you slowly. anything that needs to be done to complete a kill, jeonghan is willing to do. even if that means deceiving someone innocent.

SMALL WEAPONS: knifes, hand grenades, hand held firearms, any weapon that he can hide somewhere on his person and never get caught with is jeonghan's favorite. he claims it's easier to move around with, and makes him faster on his feet.

ENGINEERING: creating grenades and other deadly explosives is not something that just comes simply one day. it requires proper engineering to create a weapon that is both lethal, yet undetectable beforehand. this kind of heavy engineering is what jeonghan is most talented at. honestly, building anything is what jeonghan is good at. suiting up a getaway car so it it is able to go 50x faster than the average sports car is the kind of thing that gets him going.

ARMED ROBBERY:
1. hong jeonghan robbed a local bank with some friends when he first moved out to daegu in attempt to seem cool in the eyes of neighborhood thugs. he didn't make that much from the heist, however, it did land him a spot as a threat to the local police. due to his adolescence (and his amazing veiling skills), the police were unable to convict him of any crimes.

2. with three warning shots in the air, jeonghan broke into a diamond store; not a jewelry store, but a larger cooperation in the heart of daegu that manufactured the diamonds that are placed into rings, necklaces, and bracelets, ect. jeonghan and his partner in crime, a younger woman by the name of lee haein, made away with a small baggie containing six diamonds. jeonghan then sold his three for money to which he placed it into his sisters college fund.

3. jeonghan, alongside orion, broke into the seoul national bank. raising hell on their way into the vault by destroying every glass window and security guard that blocked their way. taking as much as the black duffle bags in their arms could hold.

         BREAKING & ENTERING:
1. jeonghan broke into a rich mans home, armed with a miniature firearm, and thirst for money. jeonghan made away with three gold chains, a 24k diamond ring, and other expensive items. instead of selling these stolen goods, he kept them, giving the chains to his sister, and keeping the stolen ring (he tells himself that one day he'll give it someone he truly loves kind of like a "hey, this is stolen, but if you keep it, i'll know you're my ride or die" type of ordeal)

2. broke into the winter home of a schoolmate that he really did not like, and completely destroyed the place. this is a perfect case of jeonghan's short temper, as this schoolmate had made fun of his family life (very teasingly might i add) and he demolished the interior of his home. spray painting walls, shattering photos, splashing paint everywhere, throwing lube all over the floor, anything and everything you could think of he did.


ASSULT.
1. broke a mans arm, and dislocated his shoulder in a bar fight after said man tried to punk on his "weakness" towards alcohol. jeonghan first threw a bottle then attacked him all out; fits flying.

2. kicked a drug dealer in the stomach until he coughed up thick blood. well, kicked the drug dealer until he lost consciousness, went into compulsions, and then coughed up blood. it was a dirty alley fight that goes down in history as one of jeonghan's most bloody and enraged battles of all time. although the man is not dead, in fact, he still chases after jeonghan till this very day, jeonghan still wants him slaughtered. and he isn't quite sure why.

3. jeonghan stabbed a woman in the thigh after he claims "she was too close to him." that's pretty much the end of that story. well, except for the fact what when the girl, called jennie, had fully recovered, they had sex. but still, it is technically considered assault, even though jennie and jeonghan ended up hooking up afterwards.

4. assaulted two police officers while they were trying to detain him after a failed heist with the gang, socking one in the stomach and tased the other with a taser from the officers belt. jeonghan, thankfully, got away. and while he was at it, he stole one of the officers gun. no real reason, just for fun.


MURDER:
1. myungyoon and himself conducted a masterpiece; the perfect explosive. a clean detonation, but mass destruction. it was beautiful. jeonghan estimates that he killed at least 100 people, and that is a rough number. however, those people weren't innocent civilians, but in fact most of these people were members in the rival gang of myungyoon. this put him on the radar of gangs around his town.

2. jeonghan is a quick-tempered young man. so, when a neighborhood drunkard threatened to hurt his feeble, aging mother, he wasn't too thrilled. but he knew what he had to do. masked with the cloak of the night, sixteen year old jeonghan broke into the mans house, slit his throat and wrists letting the fifty year old man bleed to death on his floor. they may have been empty threats, but jeonghan believes that if you spew bullshit you deserve to die.

3. chocked out a teenager from his neighborhood after this kid threatened to spill that jeonghan had broke into the winter home of a classmate of the boys.

4. once murdered a woman in cold blood after she erupted on his mother in a clothing store. minah, jeonghan's mother, was unable to pay for the items that siyeon needed for school, and experienced a minor panic attack in the the middle of the store. the woman then began to shout slurs, and other demeaning terms towards minah that caused her to begin shaking in anxiety. jeonghan took none of that shit lightly and took it upon himself to stab the woman in the break room.

5. to defend his pride, jeonghan slaughtered three of his school mates after people called him weak for caring about his sister siyeon so dearly. he then threw one dead bodies each on the porches of the kids that clowned him. he is unaware why he felt the need to assert his dominance towards the teenage boys as, yes, cares about his sister very dearly; he loves―loved siyeon very much.

6.  jeonghan beat his step-father jinyoung to death. after seeing the man shouting at his fragile, and sensitive mother over the fact that she had forgotten to make him dinner after a long days work, jeonghan lost it. memories of his biological father shouting at his mother over mundane things of that sort flooding his mind and suddenly all he could see was red. rage began to pump through his veins. subduing the lanky man was easy, but listening to his mother and young sister scream for him to cease was terrible to endure, as even jeonghan himself didn't know why he was doing what he was doing. he punched and punched till his knuckles exploded with crimson liquid, and salty tears raced down his cheeks. and to finish him off, jeonghan drilled a broken bottle into his step-father stomach to make sure he was really gone. jeonghan ran away from his home after that, and he hasn't spoken to his mother or sister since.


DRUGS:
1. with a duffle bag full of bricks of cocaine, jeonghan delivered it to jeju-do alongside other members of the gang. the sense of adrenaline was one that hong jeonghan won't soon forget.

2. for extra money occasionally jeonghan will push drugs in the underground scene. crystal meth, adderall, molly, anything you can think of, jeonghan has slanged it before. and he makes amazing money from it.


IDENTITY THEFT:
1. jeonghan slept with a wealthy man, and while the young man was asleep, jeonghan slit his throat. half-naked, jeonghan drained the males bank account and left the premises. it was an hour ordeal and jeonghan can't say that he regrets any of it. after that, jeonghan stopped commuting identity theft; it wasn't fun anymore.

jeonghan has something about hurting the innocent females in his life, breaking them down and shattering their hearts. he's afraid he'll end up hurting her, or worse, killing her. she frustrates the hell of of him. but he in a strange sort of way, he loves that about her. the way she drives him absolutely insane, how jealous she gets, and the way her angled face gets flustered whenever he touches her. it's all so.. perfect to him. but he is the leader, and he knows they can't be together, so, jeonghan only feels he can show affection to her when in private. alone. doing whatever their minds can think of. jeonghan likes to believe that they are nothing more than extremely close friends, who sometimes kiss a little to much, hold each other in the night, and would take a bullet for each other, but deep down, he wishes they could be something more than that.

perspective on partner : jeonghan sees her as one of the craziest people he has ever, and will ever meet meaning that she's not afraid to push the boundaries of pure insanity. so that's what hong jeonghan thinks of her, she's mental. and it's intriguing because she seems like a beautiful young woman, with her soft yet angular features and gleaming smile, but in reality she's killed more people than were in his hometown. jeonghan thinks of her in general as someone that he can trust, which is a crazy thought as he doesn't really trust anyone, but something about orion changes him. and jeonghan can't tell if that's a good or bad thing.

suggested scenes :
—jeonghan finally admitting how terribly he treats orion while intoxicated, and crying against her shoulder. saying things like: "i'm so sorry rion", "i wish i wasn't like this either" and, "you know you're the best thing to ever happen to me right, sully?"
—orion and jeonghan go to a public garden like yoooo their relationship is so dysfunctional and screwed up i need some fluff.
—a scene where they have an argument and mid-way through she screams "you're just like your father!" (yes, she is aware of his background) and jeonghan has a mental breakdown.
—orion purposefully making jeonghan extremely angry at her just because she wants to see him get super flushed and red. afterwards they make out or sleep with each other or something.
—orion getting badly injured and while she's gushing blood from her wounds, jeonghan holds her while she's sobbing because wow pain.

how well do they work during a mission :
jeonghan and orion usually work great together. with her sharp wit, and jeonghan's deadly mentality, they are a force to be reckoned with, but, as you know, they both crave dominance. both parties lust after power and when they don't get it, the situation can turn south very quick. especially if orion, and or, jeonghan becomes clouded by their feelings while working.

how well do they work in general :
they both have very demanding personalities which can clash. it also doesn't help that orion can be the biggest brat to walk planet earth when she doesn't get what she wants. but when they are out on the field, or even just having to do some small things with each other here in there, they blend nicely. both orion and jeonghan are fucking horrifying when angry and neither are ones to mess with having a bad day. so when working together, they can become a force to be reckoned with. but when they aren't seeing eye to eye on something, things can take a turn for the worst and guns may be pulled on each other.

—he thought she had talent, and potential to be lethal; which is exactly what the gang needed. he needed a firecracker on his team, someone not afraid to push the boundaries of pure insanity. orion was that person. when he was first brought face to face with her, however, she seemed to be to pretty for the role. he feared that she would be to concerned with her looks to focus on missions but when she shot someone right in front of his very eyes, he changed his mind.

ORION LIM: "fuck this guy."

—she thought he was a punk―a hot punk―but a punk nonetheless. he seemed like an asshole that wouldn't appreciate her talent, and she dislike him greatly because of that. but after he practically begged her once she murdered a civilian in front of his face, she couldn't resist (plus he offered her money.)
