Vernestra was struck by a memory from her own time spent as a Padawan. For a while she’d suffered from a strange talent where she would lose herself in hyperspace, her consciousness traveling while in that liminal space. The first time it had happened it terrified her: she’d never exhibited the ability when she’d been a youngling. But Master Stellan had seen it as an impressive and wholly unique skill, and had urged her to practice it whenever they traveled through hyperspace.

Until one day the ability stopped, and she could no longer do it. Shortly thereafter she’d taken her trials and been promoted to Knight, and she’d never had the problem again. She didn’t think of her hyperspace gift often, but something about Imri’s friendly emotional nudge brought the memory back.
